Chapter 185 Going to Be Exciting
Brooklyn barely had a moment to explain before Sebastian strode to the door. "I'm home; everything's fine," he assured.
The neighbor was stunned. Sebastian was drop-dead gorgeous! She'd never seen anyone like him. "And who are you?" she asked.
Sebastian placed a hand on Brooklyn's shoulder, his smile effortlessly charming. "Her husband."
The neighbor walked away, dazed. What a handsome man!
Sebastian had been introducing their relationship all day.
Brooklyn shook off his hand. "You don't need to explain. You said our marriage was a secret. What's this now?"
A mischievous glint appeared in Sebastian's eyes as he closed the door. "Times change, and I do what I want."
What did that even mean?
Sebastian was impossible to figure out.
"It's late; go wash up and sleep," Sebastian said, putting down his book.
"You go ahead; I still have work," Brooklyn replied, buried in documents.
There was so much work for tomorrow; it was overwhelming.
Sebastian took the files from her. "Dr. Mitchell? An excellent cardiologist? A young associate professor?" His tone was sarcastic.
"Yeah."
"With all those titles, is this your work efficiency? How many more surprises do you have for me?" Sebastian asked.
Brooklyn stood up. "Sebastian, I'm just an ordinary person. Why take society's reputation seriously?"
Sebastian's tall frame blocked the light, casting her in shadow. "So, you're staying up late to cover your shortcomings?"
Brooklyn lifted her face defiantly. "What if I am?"
"You can't. Staying up late makes you dull. The best way to boost your brain is sleep," Sebastian said, pulling her wrist. "Go shower, now."
Brooklyn had never seen this side of Sebastian before!
Pushed into the bathroom, she reluctantly started to shower.
Outside, Sebastian stood with arms crossed. Brooklyn had just been discharged from the hospital and was already working late; she was risking her health.
Brooklyn's phone rang on the sofa.
It was Megan.
Sebastian answered. "If you have something to say, tell me."
Megan was shocked. "Sebastian, what are you doing there?"
"It seems you have nothing to say," Sebastian replied impatiently.
Megan nervously twisted a pillow. "Sebastian, I just wanted to ask Dr. Mitchell about relieving back pain during pregnancy. I've been having a lot of it."
Megan had planned to scold Brooklyn, but with Sebastian on the line, she quickly made an excuse.
Sebastian's tone turned cold. "Ask Dr. Adams later."
Megan thought, 'Did he not care me at all?'
Alone in the villa, Megan had no outlet for her frustration. "I understand, Sebastian. I'll be waiting for you at home."
"No, I won't be back tonight," Sebastian said.
Megan suddenly remembered. "Sebastian, weren't you supposed to be away from Aucester? When did you come back?"
Sebastian ignored her. "Megan, don't forget your place. Don't ask."
He hung up just as Brooklyn emerged from the bathroom.
Slim Brooklyn wore loose summer pajamas, modest but hinting at her graceful figure. Her damp hair was wrapped in a towel, and her face flushed from the steam.
Sebastian's desire surged.
Seeing the phone in his hand, Brooklyn frowned. "What are you doing with my phone?"
Sebastian approached, his arm resting on the bathroom door, trapping her. His tall frame bent slightly, closing the distance, the air thick with tension.
"What are you doing?" she asked.
Sebastian's warm breath brushed her face. "I told you at dinner that I like things spicy."
