Chapter 27 She Is Learning from You

Returning to the villa once again, Brooklyn was placed on the living room sofa by Sebastian, with a medical kit beside her, a scene that was eerily identical to that night. Brooklyn frowned slightly, both because her knee indeed hurt and because Sebastian's behavior had been abnormal these past few days.

Brooklyn looked up at Sebastian, who was reading documents on the adjacent sofa, lounging back with an air of noble indifference, especially with his chiseled features highlighted under the floor lamp and the shadows of his thick lashes casting down on his face.
His demeanor always managed to captivate Brooklyn, no matter when.

Brooklyn shifted her gaze away and cautiously began to unwrap the bandage, the pain nearly causing her to cry out. The wound had worsened, the blood sticking to the bandage, making it impossible to remove it all at once. She could only painstakingly peel the fabric from her flesh.

During this process, Sebastian's eyes remained on his documents, his tone carrying a hint of disdain, "You'll stay at the villa for a while."
Brooklyn's head snapped up to look at Sebastian. She hadn't spoken yet, but the disbelief in her eyes was translated by Brooklyn according to his own thoughts. He lazily flipped a page, "You don't think I'm going to live with you, do you?"

A moment of embarrassment once again struck Brooklyn's pride. She had indeed thought so, but with Sebastian's words, she inevitably had to deny it, "Mr. Kingsley, you misunderstand, I just want to make sure no undesirables appear here."
Like Megan.
After all, if Sebastian were to live here, Megan would certainly come here if she wanted to see him. Brooklyn didn't want to see Megan's face at all.

Sebastian's brows furrowed slightly. Did this woman just refer to him as an undesirable?

"This villa has been inhabited by undesirables for three years already."
His calm rebuttal left Brooklyn momentarily at a loss for words. Their covert struggle had become quite evident, and they gave each other no quarter, being straightforward and direct.

"Why do you want me to stay here? I'm quite comfortable in my own apartment, and I'm of lowly status, Mr. Kingsley, how dare I disturb you on your turf?"

The bandage was now mostly removed, and the intensified pain caused Brooklyn to break out in a sweat on her forehead, but somehow, the words of Sebastian made her so angry that for a moment she forgot the pain.
The power of anger truly is formidable.

"Quinn just returned to the country. He's very curious about my life and will definitely visit the villa. As for when, I don't know."
Hmm?
Brooklyn gave a cold laugh, "Are you putting on a show for your brother?"

Sebastian lifted his eyelids slightly, each time he heard Brooklyn's mocking tone, he couldn't help but want to silence her lips!
"Aren't you already well-practiced in this?"

"Thanks to you."
Phew! She finally dealt with the bandage! Brooklyn wiped the sweat from her forehead with the back of her hand, her skin pale and glowing with sweat, slightly flushed, her lips somewhat pale from the force of her biting them just now, but... it was that fleeting vulnerability that seemed to pluck at someone's heartstrings.

"So, if you want Quinn to believe that we live together as a couple and are very happy, then you'll need to procure the necessary props. You may not live here, but please take out some of your personal items and place them in conspicuous spots."

Sebastian watched her incessant lips for a while, then hastily averted his gaze, "Fine."
Brooklyn applied medicine to her wound, her eyes surveying the vast living room. The decor was luxurious, but too opulent, too noble, so much so that it felt devoid of the warmth and vibrancy of life.

"Get whatever you need."
With that, Sebastian pulled out a gold card from the pocket of his suit and placed it in front of Brooklyn.

Brooklyn looked at the gold card, "Can I just swipe this card at will?"
Sebastian cast a sidelong glance at her, not saying a word.
The cards and money he gave her were always at her disposal, but Sebastian was surprised that Brooklyn, who had married him for money, had not swiped his supplementary card even once in these three years.
Sometimes, he even wondered whether Brooklyn married him just for the money, or if money could not satisfy her desires?

Brooklyn rewrapped her wound, her mouth corners tilting upward, "Mr. Kingsley, since you're so generous, I'll accept it."
Sebastian responded indifferently, "As you wish."

The night was pitch black, the living room bright as day.
Sebastian and Brooklyn sat quietly, each on a sofa, a distance apart, he motionless, she also still.
This moment in time seemed peaceful and beautiful.

Brooklyn shook her head.
She shouldn't harbor expectations about Sebastian.

Sebastian had read the two documents in his hands over and over, nearly memorizing the clauses. This process repeated several times, yet he remained seated on the sofa, not leaving.
He hadn't expected that sitting with this woman with ill intentions would bring him such tranquility.
This feeling was different from when he lived alone.

Brooklyn couldn't continue to sit still. She got up from the sofa, bit her lip, and decided to say something to Sebastian, who seemed not to want to talk to her, "I'm going to take a shower."
