Chapter 97 Facing Dismissal

At this point, Brooklyn understood that Piper wasn't trying to dismiss her to uphold the hospital's reputation but simply because she wanted to get rid of her.

What could be the reason behind Piper's actions towards her?

After a brief moment of contemplation, Brooklyn seized the moment and smiled faintly. "Ms. Rivera, even if you want to dismiss me, you still need Mr. Clark's approval first. When you have the dismissal papers, then you can inform me. I have things to attend to, so I'll take my leave."

Piper snorted lightly. "Dr. Mitchell, you sound quite confident, huh? Do you think there will be someone higher up to continue supporting you?"

She was referring to Zach standing up for Brooklyn against the reporters.

Brooklyn smiled. "No, I have nothing to hide."

Piper sarcastically remarked, "How dare you say that? You go against VIP patients in the hospital, secretly conspiring with hospital leaders and engaging in shameless activities, yet you claim to have nothing to hide. Since you are so confident, I'll give you this opportunity."

With that, she walked away from Brooklyn, picked up the phone on her desk, and raised an eyebrow at Brooklyn as she dialed. "Keep your eloquence and tears for later; you'll have a chance to use them soon."

The call connected.

"Mr. Clark, it's me. The Cardiology Department is in chaos right now. Yes, the patients are demanding explanations. I suggest Dr. Mitchell's dismissal. Otherwise, not only will the Cardiology Department be greatly affected, the entire hospital will suffer a great impact. Understood."

Piper vividly exaggerated the impact caused by Brooklyn, making it seem like not dismissing her would result in huge losses for the hospital.

After hanging up the phone, Piper said, "Dr. Mitchell, please proceed to the Dean's office."

Leaving this statement behind, Piper walked out, with Brooklyn following closely.

As they exited the elevator, they both saw Zach, dressed in a clean white coat, standing tall outside, accompanied by several department heads and assistant department heads.

Piper's face instantly lit up. "Mr. Carter, good morning."

Zach nodded, his gaze fixed on Brooklyn. "Dr. Mitchell, how are you feeling? How was your rest yesterday?"

The group of people all looked at her, maintaining poker faces while each harboring their own thoughts.

Brooklyn thought to herself, 'This is bad. My reputation is already not good, and with Zach saying this, the misunderstanding will only grow.'

"I'm feeling much better, thank you, Mr. Carter," Brooklyn replied.

Piper smiled lightly. "Mr. Carter is always busy, and Dr. Mitchell is a key player in the Cardiology Department. I will take good care of her."

Zach's gaze didn't show any favoritism towards her, and he straightforwardly said, "Dr. Mitchell, come find me after you finish your paper. Communicate with me promptly if you have any questions."

Brooklyn bit her lip. "Yes, Mr. Carter."

Brooklyn dared not let her guard down, hoping that Zach wouldn't appear in such a manner again.

Piper sneered, "Dr. Mitchell, you certainly have a few tricks up your sleeve, I see. You can even win over a man like Mr. Carter. But I am more curious about how he would feel if he knew about your dirty deeds."

Piper's words today were full of hidden meanings, making it uncomfortable to listen to.

Zach, at the elevator entrance, didn't rush to leave. He turned his head to watch the two figures walk away gradually. After they entered the Dean's office, he collected his thoughts. "Bring me the surgical records for the Neurosurgery Department this month and prepare a detailed emergency manual. Have it ready by the weekend."

After giving out instructions, he decided not to go downstairs.

Several assistant department heads looked at him. "Mr. Carter, the elevator is here."

"I have something to take care of; you all can go ahead," Zach said.

Upon hearing Piper's words in the dean's office, George felt a headache coming on. He admired Brooklyn's talent and was reluctant to dismiss her, but the current situation was not favorable for her to stay.

Seeing George hesitate, Piper said, "Mr. Clark, the Cardiology Department is in turmoil. I don't want to tolerate the relevant personnel just after taking office, and I can't watch the situation deteriorate."

George, his hands marked with age spots, placed them on the desk. "Dismissing a doctor is a last resort, Piper. If we do that, we would be addressing the symptoms but not the root cause."

Piper argued, "The root cause of the problem is the series of actions Dr. Mitchell has taken recently. Her behavior has raised suspicions and fears among the patients, and the trust in the hospital has plummeted. You should see it. The Cardiology Department is in a state of panic."

George sighed and looked at Brooklyn. "Do you have anything to explain?"

George was giving her a chance.

Brooklyn politely bowed. "Mr. Clark, I apologize for causing such trouble for the hospital and putting you in a difficult position. However, I have not done anything against medical ethics. As for the other accusations, I hope rumors stop with the wise."

Piper aggressively attacked. "Dr. Mitchell, even if you are innocent, the impact was caused by you, so you should take responsibility."

Zach, standing outside the door, couldn't bear to listen any longer. He knocked on the door. "Mr. Clark."

Seeing him, George relaxed. "Mr. Carter, come in quickly."

Mr. Clark smiled faintly. "I happened to overhear Ms. Rivera's words just now, and I have a different opinion regarding Dr. Mitchell's situation."
