Chapter 291 Sebastian Sends Flowers
'How dumb can I be? How can I still have a lifetime to feel this embarrassed?' Brooklyn thought.
Zach was chilling on the couch, seriously going through some papers, but he'd sneak a peek at her now and then. Sometimes their eyes would lock, and she couldn't help but notice the softness in his gaze.
Sebastian's surprises and romantic gestures were like a wild storm—exciting but left a mess in their wake. Zach, on the other hand, was all about that steady, warm love. No big flashy moves, just deep, genuine care.
With a sigh, Brooklyn closed her eyes and thought, 'Sebastian, where are you? Are you with Megan, taking care of her and the kid?'
Zach's phone buzzed in the room.
After answering, Zach quickly said, "You rest up here. If you need anything, hit up the nurse. I gotta handle something urgent."
"Okay, go ahead."
Zach left, and the big hospital room suddenly felt empty, leaving her feeling kinda lost.
Meanwhile, in Megan's room...
Karen and the others were gathered around Megan's bed, looking super worried.
"Megan, thank God you're awake. You scared me. Are you feeling okay? I'll get the doc." Karen clung to Megan's hand like she was afraid she'd disappear.
Megan blinked a few times, her vision finally clearing. She instinctively touched her belly, eyes widening as she asked, "What about my baby? How's Sebastian's and my baby?"
Karen and Jennifer exchanged a knowing smile, and Karen bragged, "See? A mom always thinks of her kid first. Megan's not even married to Sebastian yet, and she's already all about their baby."
Jennifer looked at Megan with a rare smile, holding her other hand, "The baby's fine. You've had a rough day, Megan. We'll make it up to you."
Megan smiled sweetly, "Thank you, Mrs. Kingsley. As long as the baby's okay, everything's fine. You love kids so much; as long as the baby's safe, that's all that matters."
Her words hit Jennifer and Karen right in the feels, especially Karen, who kept singing Megan's praises to Jennifer, making Megan the clear favorite for the Kingsley family.
In the room, Lawrence also chimed in with support. Suddenly, Megan was the obvious choice, known for her gentle nature, refined manners, and impeccable grace.
After buttering up them, Megan softly asked, "Mrs. Kingsley, where's Sebastian? I wanna see him."
Her pitiful look was on point, leaving Jennifer no choice but to say, "Don't worry. When he comes, I'll make sure he stays with you."
Lawrence laughed, "Megan might be with the Turner family now, but her heart's always been with the Kingsleys."
Jennifer smiled slightly, with her own plans in mind, "If Sebastian agrees, Megan will be my daughter-in-law."
"How could he go against your wishes?" Lawrence's tone was rock solid; he wasn't about to let Megan get disrespected again.
Karen chimed in, "When Megan was out cold, Sebastian was busy with the group's stuff. We get it, and Megan gets it. But now that she's awake, Jennifer, as a mom, I really feel for her."
Jennifer dialed Sebastian's number, and it rang a few times before he picked up.
Sebastian was lounging in the MBK Group president's office, phone in one hand, mouse in the other, lazily staring at the screen. "Jennifer," he said.
"Megan's awake. Get to the hospital now. She's carrying your kid!" Jennifer snapped.
Dario, standing by the desk, could already tell something was up from Sebastian's expression.
"I'm busy," Sebastian replied curtly, thinking, 'I'm really busy; otherwise, I'd already be at the hospital with my wife, Brooklyn.'
"I don't care how busy you are! Get over here now! And Brian's on his way to the hospital ,too. Everything you've been up to lately..."
"Alright, I'll be there," Sebastian cut her off, hanging up and rubbing his brow in frustration. "What's the latest with NC Group?" he asked.
Dario quickly answered, "Just got the news. The other side's showing signs of backing down. Looks like this might just be a test run. No clue if there'll be another round."
"Got it." Sebastian put down the mouse and stood up. His tall frame moved to the center of the office. "Get the car ready. We're heading to the hospital."
Dario nodded, "Yes, sir!"
The car sped along, and when they passed a flower shop, Sebastian had the driver stop. "Wait here for me."
Sebastian got out and bought a bouquet of camellias. As he was about to leave, he muttered, "Damn it! Give me a bouquet of lilies, too."
His face darkened as he got back in the car, holding two bouquets.
Dario stayed silent. One wrong word and he could be out of a job. He drove quietly, glancing at Sebastian's tense expression in the rearview mirror, feeling like something big was about to go down.
The car pulled up to the hospital entrance, and Sebastian got out with the camellias.
Dario asked, "Mr. Kingsley, what about the lilies?"
"Take them upstairs and give them to her," Sebastian ordered, not even wanting to say Megan's name.
Dario picked up the flowers. "Yes, sir."
'If Jennifer doesn't see Sebastian, she's gonna chew me out,' Dario thought.
Unexpectedly, as they marched into the hospital, they ran into Brian's black Hummer squarely.
Brian got out, his black suit radiating silent menace and authority. Seeing Sebastian, he called out first, "Sebastian."
Sebastian's brows furrowed, and he greeted, "Dad."
Seeing the flowers in Sebastian's hand, Brian snorted, his deep, stern voice leaving no room for argument, "Come with me!"
