Chapter 169 Don't Fall For It.
A dozen minutes later, someone said, "Mr. Kingsley, we found out that the last time Mr. Kingsley was seen was at the West River intersection where she got into a black Lexus, but the license plate was covered."
"What about the call records?"
"The last call was from a pre-paid phone so that we couldn't trace it. Mr. Kingsley, this was a premeditated kidnapping."
Sebastian's sharp eyes glinted with a frosty chill. A premeditated one? It seemed like the same person who poisoned her wanted to finish the job since she didn't die.
What had Brooklyn done to piss someone off so much?
Shit!
Her head was throbbed from a heavy blow. She struggled to open her eyes and found herself in an abandoned house. Cobwebs adorned the windows, and the light pierced through, causing discomfort as she squinted.
"Oh, the beauty's awake."
Who was that?!
Brooklyn tried to turn around but realized she was tied to a pole, hands bound, and her upper body tightly secured. She struggled, feeling the friction and pain in her wrists.
"Don't bother. You can't escape."
Loren, wearing a hood and holding a sharp dagger, approached Brooklyn. The blade lightly grazed her face, the cold metal like a snake crawling, sending shivers down her spine.
"Who are you, and why do you take me here?"
Although she could not see the dagger, Brooklyn kept calm and avoid show fear.
"Someone wants to meet you, or we wouldn't bother."
His malicious tone was far from friendly!
Brooklyn narrowed her sharp eyes. "Which bastard wants to see me? Get him in front of me!"
"You have quite a temper, no wonder you're Sebastian's woman.. You've learned from Sebastian." The man chuckled darkly, the dagger grazing her face, threatening to draw blood.
"Fuck you! Get your boss to show himself. What? Are you bold enough to bring me here but not to show your face?"
Brooklyn tried not to show any fear. From movies, she knew that the more scared she was, the bolder the kidnappers became.
She believed there was nothing they could use to blackmail her.
But if Sebastian was in the car...
"What are you panicking about? The other esteemed guest has yet to arrive, so it's not time yet for my boss to show up?"
After that, Loren played with Brooklyn's phone. "Would you like to see your dear husband before you die? Sebastian is a top financial magnate. Imagine if the real estate legend died here."
"Pooh! Do you just want to kidnap him? You guys are so foolish."
"So let's bet on Sebastian coming over to die for you, okay?" He toyed with her phone, the password cracked. Loren found Sebastian's number and waved her phone in front of her.
"He won't come! There's nothing between us..."
The call went through!
Sebastian saw it was Brooklyn's number, and his nerves tightened. "Where are you?!"
"Mr. Kingsley, you seem quite anxious, right?"
It was not her!
"If you dare to touch a strand of her hair, I will make your death very miserable!" Sebastian's forehead veins pulsed as he gripped the phone so hard.
Brooklyn desperately shook her head, wanting to make a sound to warn him not to fall for it, but her mouth was taped shut and she cound not make a sound.
It seemed that she hoped to say "Please don't fall for it! Sebastian! You're so smart, don't fall for it".
Sebastian could almost confirm that Brooklyn was in their hands.
"Sebastian, if you want to kill me, I don't mind. Having your wife die with me won't be lonely."
Sebastian halted all actions of those checking the surveillance, and the room fell silent.
"Tell me, what do you want from me?" He remained calm, cold, and indifferent.
His coldness permeated the room, cutting through the electronic waves.
"Sebastian, you are loaded, but we are a bit tight on cash lately. Will you help us?"
Upon hearing the request for money, Brooklyn realized it was just a ruse. They wanted Sebastian's life, not his money! The money was just a lure to get him there!
"Sebastian, please don't fucking fall for it!"
His face remained impassive as sweat slowly seeped through. "How much do you want?"
"One hundred million dollars. It shouldn't be difficult for you, right?"
One hundred million dollars meant nothing to Sebastian. "Fine, one billion dollars. Tell me the time and location of the transaction."
"Sebastian, do you think we're naive? If we tell you the time and place, that's..."
"Cut the bullshit. If you want money, say it!"
Sebastian snapped, his anger evident in his voice!
A muffled sound suddenly came through the phone, indicating a kick to the body, followed by a suppressed groan.
Sebastian furrowed his brow, his fist clenched!
"Mr. Kingsley, if you don't want Brooklyn to suffer, you should be kind. She's in my hands now. Until you bring the money, I can do whatever I want to her."
"Wait! How do I hand over the money?"
With a sneer, Loren said, "Bring one hundred million dollars by yourself. And if you dare bring companions, I'll disfigure her face. If you call the police, I'll have to kill her first."
"One hundred million dollars? I might need a truck for that."
Loren hesitated for a moment. "Convert it to government bonds. I believe Mr. Kingsley can manage that."
Sebastian's brow furrowed deeply. "Fine."
"Very well. Mr. Kingsley, I'll be expecting for your visit."
Before Loren hung up, Sebastian demanded, "I can give you the money, but before that, I must ensure Brooklyn safety. Let her answer!"
