Chapter 581 With Teamwork, A Married Couple Can Weather Any Storm
As expected, Eugene was really worried about Ronnie.
Sebastian, always polite and humble, said, "My wife works at Aucester Hospital. Last night, a family of four was brought in after a car accident. Could it be your son? Maybe you should call to check."
Eugene didn't waste a second. He grabbed his phone and dialed Leroy's number. In the few seconds it took for the call to connect, his expression shifted several times.
Finally, the call connected, and a female voice answered, "Hello..."
Eugene urgently asked, "Who are you? Where's the phone's owner?"
Brooklyn, guessing the caller was Leroy's father, smiled politely. Her gentle voice carried the authoritative tone of a doctor. "Hello, the phone's owner is currently unconscious. May I ask who you are?"
"I'm his father. How is he?!"
"So, you're Mr. Gutierrez's father. Mr. Gutierrez hasn't shown any signs of waking up yet. I'm his attending physician, Brooklyn Mitchell."
The moment Eugene heard the name Brooklyn Mitchell, his eyes darted to Sebastian.
What a coincidence?
But before he could voice his thoughts, Brooklyn continued, "Mr. Gutierrez, your granddaughter has a congenital heart condition and was frightened by the accident. She is still unconscious. We have top specialists for treating Tetralogy of Fallot in children. As long as you cooperate, I assure you your granddaughter will be fine."
'Cooperate? Cooperate with her treatment, or something else?' Thinking of this, Eugene once again looked at the ever-calm Sebastian. This man's intentions were unfathomable. He had already learned about last night's banquet. Now, his son's family was all in the hands of Sebastian's wife. Would he let them go so easily?
On the surface, it seemed like a negotiation, but what was he planning behind the scenes?
Eugene knew very well why Sebastian had come to Aqua Vista City in person. The project was stalled, and with Sebastian's ruthless methods, he was bound to take risks.
Eugene's palms were already sweaty. In all his years in office, Sebastian was the first person to make him feel so uncertain.
After a moment of internal struggle, Eugene suppressed his agitation and anxiety. "Don't worry, I will cooperate fully."
"With your assurance, I am relieved. I will personally perform the heart surgery and ensure your granddaughter's health."
"Thank you, Dr. Mitchell."
There was an underlying message in their conversation. By the end of the call, Eugene's forehead was covered in a fine layer of sweat.
He slowly put down his phone, and his expression towards Sebastian was no longer distant. The two exchanged a knowing look. "Mr. Kingsley, you have an extraordinary wife."
"Thank you, Mr. Gutierrez. I will pass on your compliment. Mr. Gutierrez, you are busy with your duties. I will personally arrange for the treatment of your son and his family at Aucester Hospital. They will recover in the shortest time possible. You can rest assured and wait here."
Without spelling it out, the message was clear. Eugene, having navigated the political arena for years, was well-versed in such interactions. Sebastian's scheming was second nature to him. He hadn't mentioned the project, but Eugene already had a plan in mind.
"Thank you, Mr. Kingsley. I appreciate it."
Sebastian smiled faintly. "One good turn deserves another. Mr. Gutierrez, your coffee is getting cold. Wouldn't you like another cup?"
Sebastian took a sip of his coffee, his expression unreadable. "Mr. Gutierrez, how do you find my coffee?"
Eugene, feeling uneasy, brought the cup to his lips. How could he focus on the coffee when his mind was on his family? Yet, he tried to keep his voice calm. "Mr. Kingsley, the coffee lives up to its reputation. I am impressed."
This was probably the most difficult cup of coffee Eugene had ever had to drink.
Sebastian's smile was fleeting, disappearing as quickly as it came.
Leaving Eugene's home, Sebastian got into his Bentley. Bill turned to his relaxed boss. "Mr. Kingsley, how was your coffee with Mr. Gutierrez?"
Sebastian chuckled lightly. "What do you think?"
Bill didn't dare answer carelessly and laughed awkwardly. "With you handling it personally, Mr. Kingsley, I'm sure there won't be any major issues."
"Head back to the office. Also, there's a party at the Bruce residence in three days. Find a way to get me an invitation." Sebastian ordered.
Bill hesitated for a moment. "Mr. Kingsley, Mr. Cooper holds a high position. It might be difficult to get into his private party."
"Difficult or not depends on who is trying."
Bill didn't dare question further. "Understood. I'll make it happen."
Sebastian gave him a sidelong glance. "In the future, when I ask you to do something, don't tell me you'll try. Tell me you will."
Bill's forehead broke out in a cold sweat. "Yes!"
That afternoon, Leroy and his wife woke up. Seeing their children so well-behaved with Brooklyn, they were relieved.
Brooklyn busied herself taking care of the children, checking on them, and promising to perform the surgery personally. The couple was deeply moved. Knowing that Brooklyn was Sebastian's wife only added to their gratitude.
Sebastian had effortlessly left a positive impression on them.
This connection would be highly beneficial for Sebastian in establishing his network in Aqua Vista City.
Ronnie quickly grew fond of Brooklyn, and they formed a close bond. The child was very obedient to Brooklyn.
Eugene doted on Ronnie, who usually had the final say at home. Yet, he listened to Brooklyn without question.
Soon, three days had passed.
That morning, Bianca and Brandon met at the entrance of the Mitchell Group. They were heading to the Turner Group again.
Bianca was fuming. "Damn, Megan! Even at the brink of ruin, she's still resisting! Holding onto the Turner Group like it's her lifeline! Damn it!"
Brandon pinched her cheek. "Sweetheart, you gotta take things one step at a time. The Turner Group is huge. You can't just swallow it in one bite. Let it survive a few more days."
Bianca couldn't let it go. Thinking about the humiliation they suffered in Megan's office that day, she wanted nothing more than to wring Megan's neck and give her a good kick.
"With Megan's attitude? Mr. Kingsley was too kind, just trying to acquire the Turner Group without throwing them in jail. If it were up to me, Megan would spend the rest of her life behind bars. Damn, letting her act all high and mighty!"
"Relax, she'll get what's coming to her." Brandon comforted.
The black Mercedes sped towards the Turner Group.
Bianca adjusted her tailored blazer, straightened her A-line skirt, and, in her hot pink high heels, walked up the steps alongside Brandon.
Both dressed in black, they exuded a powerful aura. The Turner Group employees, seeing them again, were on high alert.
Brandon sneered, "The Turner Group's stock is plummeting. No matter how angry Megan is, she won't dare take it out on us again. She only dared to lash out because Mr. Kingsley wasn't there. Now, whether he's here or not, the Turner Group is doomed."
Bianca smirked, her eyeliner accentuating her seductive eyes. "Mr. Hernandez, today we take down the Turner Group. That promise from the other day still stands."
Brandon shrugged, his charming eyes glinting with mischief. "No worries, I can still invite you to my place." He raised an eyebrow.
In the office, Bianca and Brandon sat on one side, Megan and Lawrence on the other. Four pairs of eyes glared at each other, the tension palpable.
Brandon pulled out his laptop, slowly tapping on the keys before turning the screen towards them. "Mr. Turner, Ms. Turner, as expected, today's stock price has dropped even further. You've probably seen today's financial news. The next step for the Turner Group is bankruptcy. And with the assets you've secretly transferred, you won't even cover a third of the debt. If the authorities find out about your asset transfers, you might spend the rest of your life in prison."
"Mr. Kingsley offered you a way out, but you chose to walk into a dead end. Should I advise you, or..."
Lawrence's face turned pale with anger. He knew he was beyond saving, but he couldn't stand the thought of the Turner Group being swallowed by Sebastian. Yet, who else but Sebastian would dare make a move on the Turner Group now?
Megan's eyes were bloodshot. They had lost, completely and utterly, to Sebastian. They couldn't even hold onto their last bit of hope.
Bianca pulled out a document and waved it in their direction. "Mr. Turner, this is our final visit. After today, even if you beg anyone, you won't get another chance."
Three hours later, the tension in the office had dissipated.
Lawrence was the first to leave, his face twisted with humiliation.
Megan angrily threw the pen she had used to sign the papers onto the floor, breaking it in two. Black ink splattered across the white floor.
Bianca tapped the agreement on the table, her red lips curling into a victorious smile. "Ms. Turner, I hear sweets are good when you're feeling down. There's a dessert shop if you turn left and walk a bit. Eat as much as you want, it's on me!"
Megan was so furious that she wanted to scream. "Bianca, you're nothing but that woman's lackey, just a lackey!"
Bianca didn't get angry. She held back Brandon's hand, which was ready to strike, and smiled sweetly. "Just a loser. Let it go."
"Breaking news: This afternoon, the Mitchell Group officially acquired the Turner Group. All Turner Group assets now belong to the Mitchell Group's chairwoman, Brooklyn. The Turner Group is no more in Aucester..."
"The four major families in Aucester are undergoing a massive reshuffle. The Turner Group is gone. Who will take their place?"
"The Mitchell Group's trade division has emerged. How will this business legend write its history?"
"The Mitchell Group acquired the Turner Group, but the chairwoman, Brooklyn, did not make an appearance. What do you think about the mastermind behind this grand move?"
Receiving Brandon's good news, Sebastian was changing clothes, preparing for the evening's party at the Bruce residence at 8 PM.
As he adjusted his tie, he spoke calmly into his phone on speaker. "The acquisition of the Turner Group was expected. The next step is to restructure it. Traditional industries can't compete in today's market. Mr. Hernandez, find me some financial experts. I want to transform the Turner Group into a financial company."
Brandon squinted. "Mr. Kingsley, you mean a complete overhaul of the Turner Group?"
"Yes, let go of those who need to go. Bring in trustworthy people to oversee the Turner Group. If someone doesn't fit, find a reason to fire them. Although the Turner Group's industrial sector is large, it can't sustain the entire chain. To turn a profit, we need a new approach."
"I've already drafted a plan. Follow it, and I want the Turner Group to be restructured within six months. It's a lot of work, but once it's done, Mr. Hernandez, you'll be handsomely rewarded. It's a win-win situation. I'm sure you'll like it."
Sebastian methodically laid out all the follow-up tasks, as if the entire strategy was already mapped out in his mind. He just needed to move the pieces to control everything.
This level of strategic planning and command was awe-inspiring to Brandon.
"Mr. Kingsley, don't be so blunt! With our relationship, talking about money hurts feelings."
"Then would you prefer to help for free?"
Brandon decided to change the subject. "How are things in Aqua Vista City? I heard your father gave you an impossible task. What's your plan?"
Sebastian finished adjusting his tie and straightened his suit collar in the mirror. "Step by step, breaking through each layer. So far, no one has been able to stop me from achieving what I set out to do."
