Chapter 504 Find the Murderer

Donny and his wife didn't even get a chance to see Brooklyn before Sebastian sent them packing.

At least it gave Brooklyn some peace and quiet. She didn't need to worry about any tricks from those two, and given her current condition, avoiding unnecessary visitors was for the best.

As Donny and his wife stepped out of the elevator, their faces were marked with awkward, questioning smiles. Donny suddenly grinned, "Sebastian, isn't this a bit much? We're family, after all. Treating us like this is kinda disrespectful."

As the eldest of the Kingsley family, Donny should have been the most prominent, but his current status was even lower than Quinn's other children.

Donny regretted leaving all those years ago, but now the Kingsley family's power was mostly in Sebastian's hands. If he wanted it back, he had to be polite to Sebastian, which made him furious.

Sebastian didn't care about Donny's little tricks. To him, Donny's actions were just desperate struggles.

"Are you blaming me?" Sebastian asked coldly, his tone stiff and unapologetic.

Donny forced a laugh, "Of course not. I'm just concerned about our family. If it affects Brooklyn's rest, my wife and I will leave."

Amarantha Lockhart chimed in with a sweet smile, "We've been back for so long and haven't seen Brooklyn yet. How about a family dinner sometime? I'll cook some of my best dishes, and we can all have a good chat. After all, we're family, right?"

Ha!

Playing the family card? Doesn't she know that in Sebastian's world, the concept of family was shattered by their own hands?

Now they were living in the Kingsley Villa as if nothing had happened, shamelessly.

Sebastian, with one hand in his pocket, his tall figure distant and indifferent, replied, "I'll arrange it if I have time. I have things to do, so you can go."

Without even a farewell, he walked away, leaving only his tall, imposing, and cold silhouette in the spacious white corridor, silently expressing his displeasure.

Amarantha angrily threw the flowers she was holding to the ground, sneering at Sebastian's departing figure, "He really thinks he's something now! Does he really believe the Kingsley family can't do without him? I'd like to see what makes him so arrogant."

Donny clenched his fists, his mouth twisted, "Sebastian, oh Sebastian, he really holds a grudge. He'll never forgive Dad and me for what happened. It's not going to be easy to get through to him."

A sinister look flashed in his eyes, filled with calculation.

Amarantha glanced at the hospital building, "I wish Brooklyn would just disappear! She's a disaster waiting to happen for the Kingsley family. Sebastian listens to no one but her. If she says something, the Kingsley family might end up in their hands."

Donny's eyes filled with alertness, muttering, "Indeed, with Sebastian's intelligence and connections in Aucester, he could easily take over the entire Kingsley family. Fortunately, my uncle is still the chairman of MBK and hasn't given up all his power. Otherwise, the consequences would be unimaginable."

"So, we need to work on your uncle."

"Exactly."

Amarantha gritted her teeth, "Brooklyn is really lucky. She's survived several attempts on her life, and now, just when something finally happens to her, Sebastian fixes it in less than half a day! If the culprit is found, Brooklyn's reputation in Aucester will only rise!"

Donny's eyes darkened, "At least it proves there are plenty of people in Aucester who want to take them down!"

"Hello. I'm Officer Ophelia Montague. We're conducting an investigation of all medical staff at Aucester Hospital. Please cooperate!"

Ophelia, holding her police badge, confidently organized a temporary investigation team in the hospital lobby.

Wearing blue jeans and a black T-shirt, her long hair tied in a neat ponytail, her unadorned face radiated righteousness, making her strikingly attractive despite her serious demeanor.

"Didn't expect a newbie like you to handle things so well," someone in the police team joked.

Ophelia nodded, "Of course. I'm like a brick for my country, ready to be moved wherever needed. No matter where I go, I'm a strong and reliable officer!"

"Ha! You sure have a way with words. Those five over there are your responsibility. Separate them for questioning, got it?"

"Don't worry, I've got this."

Dozens of police officers questioned people at Aucester Hospital all morning, creating a tense and oppressive atmosphere.

Sebastian walked into the lobby and spotted Dario talking to some police officers. Standing tall by the nurse's station, he called out, "Dario."

Dario quickly wrapped up his conversation and turned to Sebastian, bowing slightly, "Boss, the police are questioning everyone. So far, no suspicious individuals have been found; everyone has an alibi."

Sebastian nodded, "What about the surveillance room?"

Dario replied, "It's strange. I checked the footage with them. Although the surveillance was tampered with, no one entered the room from the time of the incident until now. The fingerprint samples collected are only from staff."

Dario's eyes widened slightly, and he lowered his voice. "Could it be that someone inside the surveillance room is involved? They might have planned everything, leaving no trace."

Sebastian turned the ring on his left hand, pondering for a moment, "It's possible. But there's another possibility: someone hacked into the hospital's surveillance system and stole the footage. Take me to the surveillance room."

"Got it!"

Dario and Sebastian entered the surveillance room. The staff stood up quickly, bowing respectfully, "Mr. Kingsley..."

"Pull up yesterday's footage."

"Yes, please wait a moment."

The footage showed the patient's private room, a critical care unit. Normally, medical staff would always be present, but in the minutes before the footage was cut, doctors and nurses left their posts for various reasons.

Some were called away, some ordered snacks, and some made phone calls.

The video paused with a nurse leaving the room, then resumed with the nurse returning, missing three minutes in between.

Three minutes?

In three minutes, the culprit could move from a blind spot, inject poison into the IV, and leave. The timing suggested they were close.

They must be in the nearest blind spot to the room.

"Pause."

Sebastian ordered, and the mouse clicked to pause.

Sebastian scanned the screen, his eyes quickly sweeping the corners.

"Based on the building's layout, the culprit's hiding spot must be in the right corner. They wouldn't need to avoid cameras because it's near the emergency exit. We checked nearby footage; the entrance camera was tampered with, but accessing the emergency exit requires a hospital access card, which can be stolen."

Ophelia's voice suddenly came from behind. Sebastian turned to see her, nodding, "Exactly, that's my conclusion."

Ophelia walked to the surveillance desk, pointing to the passage, "Although the camera here is broken, checking the access card records from last night will narrow it down."

Sebastian nodded, "Notify the maintenance department to pull the access card records from last night."

"Yes, Mr. Kingsley."

After arranging the staff, Sebastian's deep, dark eyes studied Ophelia. "Are you Thorne's subordinate?"

Ophelia shrugged, "Hello, Mr. Kingsley! I'm Ophelia, a newbie under Thorne. I've heard a lot about you. Seeing you in person, it seems the praise wasn't enough; you're even more impressive."

Ophelia extended her hand confidently, smiling.

Sebastian shook her hand, "Hello."

Ophelia continued, "Mr. Kingsley, if you were the culprit, how would you ensure the surveillance footage didn't capture the crime? Would you delete it afterward or hack the system beforehand?"

Sebastian pondered, "The latter. The culprit likely hacked the system."

Ophelia snapped her fingers, "Exactly. Killing someone is easy, but if the target is your wife, it's different. They must have a detailed plan."

"Oh?" Sebastian's view of the young officer shifted, "What's your plan? Track their server and find their ID?"

"Yes! That's my idea. Our tech team tried, but the firewall is too strong."

Ophelia looked embarrassed, apologizing, "Technical limitations can be a real challenge."

Sebastian tapped the table, "I'll handle it."

"You?" Ophelia doubted. "You're just someone who works behind your fancy desk all day. How do you know this stuff?"

Sebastian nodded to Dario, "Bring my laptop."

"Got it!"

Sebastian called Brandon, "Mr. Hernandez, it's been a while since we teamed up. Ready to test our synergy?"

Brandon jumped from his chair, "Of course! Anytime!"

"Access Aucester Hospital's surveillance system. We're tracking a hacker ID."

"Sure! What's in it for me?" Brandon asked, typing rapidly.

"Nothing," Sebastian replied bluntly.

Brandon sighed, "Alright, alright. No reward, but I'm in. Let's do this!"
