Chapter 426 A Thin Line Between Life and Death, Memory Restoration

The night was deep and enchanting.

The night in Aucester was far more dreamlike and ethereal than the day, especially the Royal Club under MBK Group, which stood out as the most dazzling gem in this enchanting night, radiating brilliance, towering and majestic.

Scarlett frowned slightly, "Is this where we're having our party tonight?"

Lisa looked over the grandeur and luxury of the entire building and clicked her tongue, "No wonder it's Aucester Hospital. Even a celebration party is this extravagant. They must be really rich."

Scarlett nodded, "Indeed."

At this moment, a doctor's voice interrupted their conversation with a chuckle, "Ladies, you might not be aware of the situation. Aucester Hospital is indeed wealthy, but the leader is also very shrewd. They chose their own Royal Club for the dinner, so the money spent goes right back to them. Isn't that clever?"

Scarlett turned to look at the Royal Club and couldn't help but smile. Indeed, businessmen were truly adept at making calculations.

Zach and others also got out of their cars. Once everyone was gathered, they all headed into the glass revolving door.

With over twenty people, one elevator couldn't hold them all, so they split into two groups.

Whether by coincidence or not, Zach happened to be in the same elevator as Scarlett. Moreover, the doctors in the team, seeing Scarlett and Zach together, automatically stepped back, isolating the two of them.

Scarlett and Zach stood one in front of the other. With the surrounding space empty, at a glance, they looked like a couple.

Scarlett stood in front, unaware of what was happening behind her, while Zach stood quietly behind her, his gaze calm and distant as he looked at her back. From a few inches away, he could smell the fresh scent of her hair. It was hard to describe the feeling.

The doctors behind exchanged glances, all curious. If Zach and Scarlett got together, it would be a wonderful story!

The elevator stopped, and Scarlett stepped out first. The people from the other elevator crowded over, and as she took a step, she was almost knocked over, instinctively stepping back and bumping right into Zach's chest.

She landed squarely in Zach's arms!

Scarlett turned around hastily, her bright, and intelligent eyes meeting Zach's gentle gaze. He seemed a bit caught off guard but maintained his graceful demeanor.

"Sorry, did I hurt you?"

Zach steadied her by the arm, "It's okay, watch your step."

A moment of awkwardness mixed with an inexplicable dryness quickly unfolded between Scarlett and Zach, then just as quickly dissipated.

The doctors waiting for more drama had to leave disappointed.

In the private room of the Royal Club, over twenty people gathered around a huge round table, and the chatter had not stopped since they entered.

"Being rich is great! This place is so damn comfortable!" A doctor exclaimed.

The private room had a prime location with a whole wall of floor-to-ceiling windows, offering a view of Aucester's charming nightscape and a river adorned with neon lights on both sides.

Looking up, they could see large patches of clouds in the dark blue sky, with a half-moon hanging between them and stars that, though dim, shone beautifully.

"With such good food here, I'm worried that I might not want to digest it after eating so much. What if I get a stomach ache?"

"Just use some digestive aids."

"If that doesn't work, Aucester Hospital's gastroenterology department welcomes you!"

While the doctors joked and laughed, Zach and Scarlett remained quiet. Neither spoke much. Scarlett held a cup of tea, sipping the slightly bitter liquid, keeping several people between her and Zach, afraid that Zach might do something she couldn't handle.

"Wow! The food is here! Finally!" A female doctor exclaimed. "Look at this! Is this food or art? Do they really need to carve the carrots so beautifully? I don't want to eat it."

As the dishes were served, everyone raised their glasses. One person suggested, "Everyone, our top hero today is Scarlett! We must toast to Scarlett!"

"Absolutely! Scarlett, I'll drink first to show my respect!" A male doctor downed half a glass of white wine without hesitation.

Scarlett frowned, "You guys are trying to get me drunk, aren't you?"

"Well, let's drink till we're happy! It's been a while since we've had this much fun. Dr. Taylor, don't spoil the mood!"

Lisa intervened, "Scarlett doesn't drink much."

"She might not drink usually, but today she shouldn't refuse, right? I'll toast to Scarlett too, bottoms up!"

"Wow! Scarlett, three drinks from us, can't you at least have one?"

They all drank decisively, but Scarlett hesitated. She hadn't drink in over two years, and even when she did, it was just a little bit of wine. She couldn't handle drinking like this.

Lisa couldn't stop them, and Cory hurriedly said, "I'll drink for her!"

Zach said, "Scarlett can't drink. You should let her off. If you really want to drink, I'll drink with you. How about that?"

With Zach's words, everyone understood. Zach was finally showing his affection!

"Alright! Come on, Dr. Carter, cheers!"

Scarlett looked at Zach, "Dr. Carter, you can't drink like this. You'll get drunk."

Zach downed a glass of wine, "It's okay."

At this moment, Scarlett's phone rang.

It was a strange number, originating from Aucester.

The private room was too noisy, so she walked out the door. Finally, she heard a woman's voice, she cried very sadly.

"Dr. Taylor, I don't want to live anymore. My illness can't be cured."

Scarlett's eyes darkened, "Who are you? Where are you?"

"I don't want to live anymore. I'll just jump from here!"

Scarlett's heart tightened, and she hurriedly asked, "Don't be impulsive. You have to believe in modern medical technology and trust the doctors! Where are you now?"

Jenny sobbed, "I'm on the top floor of the Royal Club. The night view here is beautiful."

Royal Club! The top floor of this very building!

"Wait there! I'm coming right now! Please, don't do anything rash!"

The call was disconnected. Scarlett quickly ran to the elevator and, while waiting, dialed an emergency number.

The rooftop was windy, dark, and desolate. A single misstep could lead to a fall into the abyss. The lighting on the rooftop was dim, but Scarlett could clearly see a slender figure standing at the edge.

"Don't be impulsive! Listen to me! Don't move!"

Scarlett spread her arms and slowly walked forward, "Listen, don't be impulsive!"

Jenny panicked and almost fell, she wailed, "I don't want to live anymore. My illness is incurable. No one wants me, not even my family!"

Scarlett carefully walked forward, trying to soothe her and divert her attention, "You're still young. There will be a way!"

Step by step, Scarlett was now only six feet away from Jenny.

"Miss, what exactly is your illness? Since you know me, you must also know my medical skills. If you trust me, tell me about your condition. No matter what type of heart condition you have, I can find a way to treat you, and you don't need to worry about the cost."

Jenny gritted her teeth, glaring at Scarlett with hatred. If Scarlett lived, she would surely die!

But, did Scarlett really not recognize her? Had her memory completely vanished?

Scarlett stared at Jenny, thinking she was too scared to speak, "Come down first. We'll figure out the problemt together."

Jenny suddenly sneered, "You don't remember me?"

Scarlett tried to discern something from her face but couldn't. Did she know Brooklyn from the past? "Do you know Brooklyn?"

Jenny sneered, "More than just knowing her. We have a history. Do you want to know? I can tell you before I die."

"Come down first! Whatever it is, we'll talk about it after you come down!"

Jenny suddenly laughed coldly, "Brooklyn, you've indeed lost your memory."

Scarlett's pupils contracted, filled with vigilance. She had an instinctive feeling that the relationship between Jenny and Brooklyn was not simple. "What's your relationship with her? What's your relationship with me?"

Jenny sneered, her eyes filled with bloodthirsty intent. She didn't believe Brooklyn could survive a second time.

Jenny grabbed Scarlett's wrist. Scarlett, caught off guard, slipped, and Jenny had her wrist in a tight grip.

"Let go!"

Scarlett suddenly realized that Jenny wasn't trying to commit suicide but to lure her up here. Jenny's goal was to kill her!

But why?

Could it be related to Brooklyn?

She had to find out!

"Brooklyn, you have a strong life. You survived last time! But today, I don't believe you'll survive!"

"Let go!" Scarlett swept her leg, kicking Jenny's knee and forcing her to kneel on the stone steps.

"Is Brooklyn's death related to you? Did you kill her?" Scarlett yanked her arm back, glaring angrily, trying to see through Jenny's soul.

Jenny wiped away her cold smile, "I'll tell you at your grave after you die!"

"Up there! Don't be impulsive! Step back!" Suddenly, a warning came from a loudspeaker below!

Scarlett smiled slightly. The emergency call had been effective and quick.

Jenny panicked! What to do? She was exposed!

Scarlett tightened her grip on Jenny's collar, "Tell me, you can't escape. If you tell me, maybe I can help you."

Jenny clutched her arm, "I won't trust you? I want to see which one of us will survive!"

Jenny flipped her body!

Scarlett and Jenny fell simultaneously!

Their rapidly descending figures seemed to plunge into an endless black sea, with a black tide below, ready to devour them!

's eyes suddenly widened!

Before her eyes, scenes flashed by rapidly, frantically, like a tsunami, rolling over similar scenes!

A bottomless cliff, torrential rain, a sweeping hurricane, a devouring black sea, and...

Jenny!

The last figure, like a black death god, smiled at her, shouting, "Brooklyn, go to hell!"

She was Brooklyn!

Truly!

The wastelands of Jabari, the earthquake site piled with corpses, the white medical team.

And the name she kept murmuring to herself until her death.

Sebastian.

I can't wait for you anymore, I can't wait for you anymore, Sebastian.

Scarlett closed her eyes, memories overlapping with reality. Her dry voice hoarse, "Sebastian, can't I still wait for you? I am your wife, I am Brooklyn."

Dear CEO, Please Be Gentle!
