Chapter 299 Sebastian Wants to Find Out the Mastermind
At Bayside Villas.
Dario handed over the news to Sebastian and said, "Boss, this stuff's gone viral in like two or three hours."
Sebastian glanced at it and snapped, "Looks like these internet companies wanna go outta business! Call the chairmen of these three companies, use my name. If this crap's still spreading in thirty minutes, I'll have a little 'chat' with them myself!"
"Yes, Mr. Kingsley!"
'These guys are getting too comfy, thinking they can mess with my business for clicks,' Sebastian thought.
The servant came in, dropped off some clean towels and tea, then bounced.
Dario handed Sebastian his phone, "Boss, your phone."
"What did the cops say? Any leads?" Sebastian asked.
Dario, looking worn out, replied, "Cops said there's not enough evidence, no fingerprints at the scene. Plus, the villa's been abandoned for ages, and the owner skipped town years ago. We can only ask Mrs. Kingsley and Ms. Turner now."
'It's pouring out there. Where the hell could Brooklyn have gone?' Sebastian thought, his wet hair dripping all over his shirt and the sofa. 'A tracking device!'
Sebastian turned on his phone. Sure enough, Brooklyn still had the watch on her wrist. But seeing where she is now almost made him lose it! 'Damn it, Brooklyn! Why'd you go to him?'
"Get the car ready. We're going to the hospital," Sebastian ordered.
"Now? Boss, you should rest. It's pouring outside..." Dario started.
"Shut up and get the car!"
Brooklyn had just bandaged her wound and came out wearing Quinn's coat, "Can I borrow your phone?"
Zach and Quinn both held out their phones. Brooklyn took Zach's and said, "This one has the number I need."
Quinn shrugged and said, "Brooklyn, no need to explain."
Zach smiled, trying to hide his awkwardness, "You're calling Ms. Wilson, right?"
Quinn frowned, thinking, 'That fiery lady? The one who's tight with Brooklyn. Why does it seem like Zach's got a thing for Brooklyn? This is bad news for Sebastian!'
Five minutes later, Brooklyn finished her call and came back. "Thanks, I'm outta here."
Zach quickly stood up, "Where you going this late?"
She paused, realizing she had nowhere to go. "Quinn, you got any cash?"
"Yeah, I do," Quinn replied.
"Book me a room at a hotel."
"Sure thing."
Before they bounced, Zach stopped her and said, "You can crash at my place tonight. I'll hit up a hotel. It's not safe for you to be alone in a hotel right now. Mr. Kingsley, if you're worried, you can bunk with me at the hotel."
Quinn was taken aback for a sec, finally getting the vibe between them and seeing Zach's thoughtfulness.
'He's a real gentleman. But Sebastian's still the best!' Quinn thought.
"I trust Dr. Carter. I'm not staying at the hotel."
If Quinn dared to stay out all night, Brian would grill him for sure. His wounds on his butt hadn't even healed yet.
After Quinn and Zach left, Brooklyn stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, staring out at the sprawling city.
Late at night, Sebastian barged into the hospital, waking up Megan and Kelly for questioning.
But to his surprise, their stories matched perfectly!
"I don't know who the attacker was. They had a mask on. The voice was altered, and I never saw their face."
Sebastian might've doubted Megan alone, but with Kelly backing her up, he had to take it seriously.
'Who the hell is behind this?' Sebastian wondered.
Dario noticed it was already 1 AM and said, "Boss, let them rest. We'll dig for evidence tomorrow. Luckily, all three of them are okay."
The house was torched, and there was no evidence left. If the victims didn't know anything, it was basically a dead end.
But Kelly couldn't wrap her head around why Brooklyn had called her specifically to tell her not to spill the beans.
The rain was relentless, with howling winds making it worse. The roads in Aucester were flooded, some spots with water up to four inches deep, causing roadblocks and almost paralyzing traffic.
"Boss, let me take you back to Bayside Villas," Dario said, opening a black umbrella, but the wind was so strong it wouldn't stay open. Rain pelted their faces and soaked their clothes.
Sebastian looked at the red dot on his phone screen, thinking, 'Brooklyn's still at Zach's place. This late, doesn't she think it's inappropriate?'
"No need, leave the car. Have Owen pick you up. I got somewhere to be," Sebastian said.
"But..."
"Scrub all the online news about Brooklyn. Use any means necessary, and don't report back to me." With that, Sebastian got into the car. The black vehicle roared away, kicking up huge waves on the flooded road!
