Chapter 312 The Perfect Execution of the Plan

When Brooklyn heard the news, she just raised an eyebrow, not really caring. Her face was all messed up with scars and blood, but she seemed to have forgotten the pain, like she couldn't even hear anything.

This time, there was no way she could explain herself, and honestly, she didn't even want to try.

Instead of freaking out or trying to dodge the situation, Brooklyn braced herself for the worst. Her eyes, dull and lifeless, didn't focus on anything. The hallway was a mess, filled with people yelling and crying.

All of it felt distant and blurry to her, like she was in a different world—far away, strange, and cold.

She sat quietly on the bench, like a wounded fairy trapped in a glass dome, letting the chaos of the outside world swirl around her.

Karen, Lawrence, Jennifer, and Piper had rushed over, forming a revenge squad. If it weren't for the doctors and security guards, they would've torn Brooklyn apart.

When Piper called Karen "Aunt Karen," Brooklyn's face, which had been emotionless, showed a flicker of realization.

'So that's it. How did I not see it? Megan and Piper are connected. Everything Piper's done to me makes sense now. What a joke! I thought I could stay out of it, but I've always been in their sights. They're all in on it, and I'm just a pawn. I get it now. The photo with Zach, the picture in the duty room, my assignment to the AIDS village, and my title being rejected—it all makes sense.' After figuring it out, Brooklyn didn't scream or shout. She just gave a bitter, sarcastic smile, feeling helpless and mocking herself.

"Brooklyn! You killed the Kingsley family's grandson! You have to pay!" Karen broke through the security guard's hold, grabbed Brooklyn by the neck, and glared at her, every word dripping with venom.

Brooklyn slowly lifted her head, her bloodshot eyes meeting Karen's, and said weakly, "Mrs. Turner, you want to kill me? Go ahead."

Karen was taken aback by Brooklyn's words, shouting, "You think I won't?" She turned and grabbed a stun baton from a security guard, pointing it at Brooklyn, saying, "I'll kill you!"

"Aunt Karen! Don't do it!" Piper rushed to stop her. "Aunt Karen, the cops will be here soon. Killing her will land you in jail. If you act now, it'll be too easy for her."

Karen was crying uncontrollably, her makeup smeared, her mouth twitching with rage, looking absolutely ferocious.

Jennifer rubbed her temples, looking defeated. "Mrs. Turner, let's just wait for the police."

Right then, the operating room door swung open, and Megan was wheeled out, looking weak and lifeless. She raised her hand feebly and called out, "Mrs. Jennifer Kingsley..."

Jennifer stepped forward, grabbing Megan's hand gently. "I'm here."

Megan's tears started flowing, and she said in a pitiful voice, "I'm sorry, Mrs. Jennifer Kingsley. I couldn't save Sebastian's child. I'm so sorry."

Jennifer felt a surge of hatred but kept her face neutral. She shook her head. "I don't blame you. It's not your fault."

Megan's pale face was streaked with tears, making her look even more pitiful. "Mrs. Jennifer Kingsley, my heart hurts so much. I really loved this child, really..."

She choked on her sobs, unable to speak, just closing her eyes and crying. Anyone watching would feel their heart break.

Karen and Lawrence came up, trying to comfort her. "Megan, don't be sad. Take care of yourself. There will be more children in the future. Just focus on getting better."

Lawrence's eyes were filled with tears. He wiped them away with the back of his hand, saying firmly, "Megan, don't worry. I'll make sure you get justice."

Piper nodded at Megan. "The police will be here soon. Leave this to us," then turned to Karen and Lawrence. "Aunt Karen, Uncle Lawrence, you should go with Megan and rest."

Karen and Jennifer went into the ward, leaving Piper and Lawrence in the hallway. They both looked down at Brooklyn, ready to push her over the edge.

Brooklyn stayed calm, but when she looked up, the blood on her face shocked them both.

Resting her hand on her knee, she said in a flat tone, "Piper, you've really got a good plan."

Piper crossed her arms, looking down at the disheveled Brooklyn with a mocking smile. "You can only blame yourself for being so blind. Everyone says you're smart, but I don't see it."

Brooklyn didn't argue. She just kept smiling lightly. "Sending me to prison for the rest of my life is a solid plan."

Piper raised her chin and sneered, "Yeah, Brooklyn, you're really smart!"

Brooklyn, still sitting calmly, smiled. "Very well. For me, it doesn't matter where I am. Prison might actually be cleaner."

Brooklyn had seen through everything. She really felt that nothing mattered anymore, not even how she died.
