Chapter 329 She Doesn't Have AIDS

Jabari, Malawa.

Brooklyn was practically shaking, waiting for the new mother's test results. Her nerves were about to snap!

"What's the deal? Are the results in? What's the verdict?" Brooklyn grabbed Zach's hand, her eyes boring into his. "Don't just stare at me. Spill it."

Zach's grip on the test report was so tight it was nearly torn. His eyes were red, whether from excitement or fear, and he said, "Brooklyn."

Her eyes went wide, and her heart skipped a beat!

Zach pulled her into a bear hug, pressing her face against his chest. Tears of joy streamed down his face. "Brooklyn, it's over! You don't have to be scared anymore! It's all good now!"

In his arms, she was momentarily stunned. "Zach, are you okay? Are you losing it? Am I dying?"

"No! You're such a goof, and so am I! I'm even goofier than you!" He was both crying and laughing, leaving Brooklyn totally confused.

"You don't have AIDS! You don't!" He cupped her face, his tall frame casting a shadow over her, shielding her from the sun. The joy in his eyes was overwhelming, completely enveloping Brooklyn.

Brooklyn was a bit dazed, her eyes wide and unblinking. After a long pause, she smiled, "Zach, you're terrible at jokes and even worse at comforting girls."

"I'm dead serious. I couldn't believe it at first either, so I did another test overnight. The second time, I used your blood. I'm sure, there's no virus in your blood, not even a cold virus." Zach said.

Tears streamed down Brooklyn's face as she grabbed Zach's collar, "Are you serious?"

Zach exclaimed, "Absolutely! No doubt about it!"

Brooklyn let go of his collar, her lips trembling, "I want to go back to Libertya! I need to go back!"

'I need to find Sebastian. I can't wait another second!' she thought.

Zach's hand loosened, and the test report was blown away by the wind.

Brooklyn suddenly realized and said apologetically, "I'm sorry. I just needed to know I'm not sick, that's all."

Zach smiled wryly. He had thought that once he told her this news, he might never be able to hold onto her again. But he couldn't bear to see her sad, couldn't bear to see her cry alone.

"No matter what you mean, I'll support you. But right now, you're still exiled, so without an embassy's revocation order, you can't go back." Zach said.

Brooklyn nodded, her reason and intelligence finally returning.

She started to say, "I'll go to the embassy and find out," but stopped mid-sentence, realizing that since Brian had used his connections to send her abroad, he wouldn't let her return easily; how foolish she had been.

"Don't worry, at least now you know you're healthy. You have plenty of time and opportunities. I'll help you find a way to get you back as soon as possible." Zach said.

Brooklyn nodded like a child, "Thank you!" She then tugged at his clothes, "I'm sorry..."

"Brooklyn, besides thank you and sorry, can you say something else? I've heard it so much that my ears are immune to it, and it won't absorb anymore."

"Okay, are you hungry?" she asked.

"Yeah!" Zach replied.

Brooklyn gritted her teeth as she thought, 'The medical report is wrong, and the second set of data Piper gave me must also be fake. So, this is Piper's deliberate framing, aiming to force me out of the Kingsley family. Piper's scheming and methods are terrifying upon closer thought!'

On the hillside, a nurse in white looked around and dialed a number. "Dr. Rivera, she knows the truth now. What should we do?"

'She knows the truth? So soon?!' Piper thought as she closed her office door and lowered her voice, "Any other actions?"

"She's going to eat with Dr. Carter. They seem very happy."

'They're happy?' Piper thought before she said, "Get this done, and when you return from Malawa, you are the head nurse."

"Don't worry!" the nurse said.

"Good, listen..." Piper added.

The nurse had just hung up the phone when suddenly the ground shook violently!

"Earthquake! Earthquake!"

"Run! Get to open ground! Avoid the hillside! Avoid buildings! Hurry!"

The air was filled with the sound of people screaming and buildings collapsing! The tremors shook the vast land, splitting the ground open by three feet wide! Livestock fell into the deep crevices!

"Help me!"

"Run! Hurry! Don't look back!!"

It felt like they had wings on their feet, everyone running for their lives like champions in a 100m hurdles. Some ran while screaming, others ran while shouting.

"Medical supplies! Zach, we need to get the supplies out!" Brooklyn said, thinking the number of injured would surge after the earthquake, and without medical supplies, the survivors would also die.

"Got it!"

Two figures rushed back to the medical supplies warehouse. The tremors had toppled the shelves, and things kept falling. Brooklyn pushed a cart and started loading it with medicines.

"Alright! Let's go! The building is about to collapse!" Zach said.

"Penicillin! Penicillin is essential!" Brooklyn jumped to grab the medicine from the shelf, and a huge cardboard box fell down!

Zach turned and shielded Brooklyn with his body, the box hitting his back squarely!

"Zach!" Brooklyn said.

"Get out now!"

"Together!"

Zach pushed the cart out the door and then grabbed Brooklyn, jumping out!

The storage room collapsed with a crash!

Lying on the ground, the two suddenly laughed. Only Brooklyn and Zach would laugh while escaping for their lives.

They got up from the ground and pushed the cart, running towards the open ground!

The strong wind whipped their faces, and Brooklyn's scarf was torn away by the wind!

"Brooklyn! Hurry!" Zach grabbed Brooklyn's hand tightly in the rush, shielding her with his body, "Follow me!"

The villagers stood on a piece of open ground, watching as all the buildings collapsed! Not a single one was spared.

The roads caved in, communication was cut off, and the village and the surrounding hundreds of miles became ruins after the quake.

The billowing dust finally began to settle after an hour and the first wave of tremors temporarily halted.

Brooklyn sat on the ground, looking up at the devastation. The once beautiful home was now completely destroyed, with so many people dying.

"Dr. Mitchell! Dr. Mitchell, what are you doing here?!"

"Come on! It's really you! The one who scared us with the AIDS joke a few days ago was you!"

"Dr. Mitchell, you're actually RH negative blood type!"

Without the veil, Brooklyn realized her influence in the hospital was indeed significant. A group of doctors and nurses were treating her like an idol.

"A few days ago, I..." Before Brooklyn could finish, a figure came running, stumbling and shouting desperately, "Hurry! The epicenter has heavy casualties! Nairoville! The epicenter is northwest of Nairoville!"
