Chapter 298 Quinn Meets Brooklyn
The summer rain hit outta nowhere.
Brooklyn was just strolling down the street when the downpour wiped her mind clean.
She didn't bother finding cover; instead, she tilted her head back and let the rain drench her. She didn't give a damn about the time; She might as well go out like this.
A blinding light, getting brighter and closer, filled her vision. The sudden glare from the headlights made Brooklyn throw up a hand to shield her eyes.
The car screeched to a stop next to her.
The window rolled down, and a head popped out. "Brooklyn! What the hell are you doing here!? I just hit up the hospital looking for you. Why are you out here?"
'Looking for me at the hospital in the middle of the night? Quinn's gotta be losing it,' she thought.
Brooklyn's clothes were soaked, the thin fabric sticking to her, showing off her curves. She quickly crossed her arms over her chest and snapped, "What do you want?"
Seeing her like this, Quinn knew something was up. Without another word, he jumped out of the car and shoved her into the back seat. "Brooklyn, get in the car. We'll talk later."
As soon as Brooklyn got in, the seat got soaked from her wet clothes.
Quinn didn't give a damn. Brooklyn was in trouble, and he had to help. "Brooklyn, are you pissed at Sebastian? You have every right to be! If I were you, I'd be mad too! Sebastian screwed up big time. I'll back you up!"
Brooklyn hugged herself, her face blank, her eyes empty. "He's your brother."
"That doen't mean he can't treat you like this. Brooklyn, I'm taking you back to Bayside Villas to change. You'll get sick if you stay in those wet clothes."
Quinn glanced back and freaked out. "Brooklyn, why is there blood all over you? No way, we gotta get you to the hospital! This is serious!"
"No! I'm not going to the hospital!"
Quinn was about to turn the car around, but Brooklyn was dead set against it.
"What are we supposed to do then? That wound needs to be bandaged, or it'll get worse. Brooklyn, you're an adult. Stop being so damn stubborn!" Quinn pleaded, totally lost in their messy world.
'I can't just go to any doctor right now. What if something goes wrong...' she thought.
"Take me somewhere else," Brooklyn said.
"Alright!"
Seeing how bad she was, Quinn took off his jacket and handed it to her. "Brooklyn, put this on."
Though he didn't say much, Quinn's thoughtfulness caught Brooklyn off guard.
"Why were you looking for me in the middle of the night?" Brooklyn asked, finally feeling the sharp pain from the bite wound on her chest.
Quinn pressed his lips together. "The rumors are going nuts. I was scared if I didn't check on you tonight, you'd be so pissed by tomorrow that I'd never see you again."
Brooklyn smirked and asked, "What's going on?"
Quinn struggled to explain, so he handed her his phone. "See for yourself."
The news was full of trash talk about her and Megan.
#Brooklyn Used the Kingsley Family M,atriarch's Power to Nearly Drive Megan to Death.#
#Megan Braves Through Hardships for Her Child.#
The headlines were all over the screen, painting Megan as a saint and Brooklyn as the villain.
Brooklyn sneered, "I don't care. Let them talk all they want."
Quinn tried to comfort her, "Brooklyn, don't be upset. Sebastian will handle those rumors and clear your name."
'Why's Quinn suddenly acting all serious? I miss the carefree playboy,' Brooklyn thought.
The Ferrari pulled up at Zach's apartment building, and Quinn said, "Brooklyn, your doctor friend must be loaded to live here."
"Stop yapping and follow me."
"Alright, Brooklyn," Quinn replied.
She hit the elevator button, heading straight to the top floor.
As the elevator climbed, Quinn realized this must be Zach's place.
Sure enough, Zach opened the door.
Quinn helped Brooklyn and winked. "Dr. Carter, Brooklyn's hurt. Can you help her out?"
Seeing Brooklyn's state, Zach felt his heart sank. "What happened?"
"There was an accident. Sorry to bother you," Brooklyn said.
Zach thought there was no need for such formality between them. In front of Quinn, Zach just nodded. "Come in and sit for a bit. I'll grab the first aid kit."
Brooklyn sat on the sofa, wincing in pain. "Quinn, don't get the wrong idea. There's nothing between us."
Quinn shrugged. "I believe you, but I'm not sure Sebastian will."
Whether he believed it or not, she didn't care anymore.
Zach brought the first aid kit and put on medical gloves. "Where's the wound? Let me stop the bleeding first."
Brooklyn was stunned to realize she was at Zach's place and said, "No need. Just give me the supplies, and I'll bandage myself. Is there an empty room I can use?"
Zach didn't press further and led her to the master bedroom. He rarely used the other rooms, so they weren't tidy. The master bedroom was the cleanest.
After closing the door, Brooklyn pulled off her clothes. The wound on her chest was deep, the blood blurring the area, but the bite marks were still visible. The blood had soaked all her clothes, and it seemed the bite marks would never fade.
'How much does he hate me to be so ruthless and forceful?' she wondered.
Quinn and Zach sat in the living room, avoiding the topic of Brooklyn. Quinn said, "Nice place, Dr. Carter. You have good taste and some serious cash."
Zach handed him a glass of water. "Thanks."
