Chapter 385 Sharpness, the Undisputed Ace
The quiet corridor of the operating room at Aucester Hospital was filled with the hospital's president, vice president, head of cardiology, deputy head, specialists, and doctors, all standing in the waiting area outside the operating room, staring intently at the large display screen on the wall, observing Scarlett's entire surgical procedure.
Scarlett, dressed in blue surgical scrubs, had a calm gaze that seemed to penetrate like X-rays as she looked at the patient's heart. She gripped the scalpel tightly, and the sharp blade cut through the patient's skin.
"How can this be?" The doctors outside collectively looked at Scarlett in astonishment.
The scalpel cut through the patient's skin, but not a drop of blood flowed out!
"What's happening? How can there be no blood after a cut? This is impossible!" The deputy head of cardiothoracic surgery suddenly stood up from his chair, staring at the screen in disbelief. The camera captured a close-up of her hands, her technique and incision were different from other doctors, and the result was astonishing.
The head of the department calmly adjusted his glasses and said, "I've heard of such a technique before. When Zach was at Aucester Hospital, he could sometimes achieve this, but not always. Making an incision without a drop of blood is no simple feat."
Zach?
Hearing this name, all the doctors looked at the head of the department. "It's a pity that such a good surgeon, who was also the vice president of Aucester Hospital, is now nowhere to be found."
"Nowadays, the only person I can think of who can rival Scarlett is Zach," George added, and everyone fell silent.
The surgery continued, and time ticked by.
Everyone inside and outside was on edge, wanting to see if the first patient operated on by Scarlett herself could be alive.
Scarlett methodically opened the patient's pericardium, with Lisa and Cory perfectly coordinating. The three of them worked seamlessly on the operating table, their swift movements dazzling, but it seemed as if an invisible thread connected them, making it impossible for outsiders to intervene, leaving them in awe.
Piper walked in, wearing a white lab coat and carrying a cup of coffee. Her high heels clicked as she walked, and her tight skirt accentuated her long legs. With her exquisite makeup and short hair, she was both elegant and irresistibly sexy.
As soon as she appeared, the surgeons collectively flattered her, "Dr. Rivera, your presence lights up the entire operating room!"
Piper's seductive red lips curled into a slight smile. "Dr. Sienna Adams, you're teasing me again."
She then looked at the screen, where Scarlett, wielding the scalpel like a superhero, made Piper feel a bit intimidated.
How could a doctor in her twenties be so skilled and efficient?
How did she do it?
Sienna quickly stood up and offered one of the chairs to Piper. "Dr. Rivera, please sit. Everyone knows you're the most beautiful person at Aucester Hospital."
Piper chuckled, nodded at George, and sat down, then chatted with the head of surgery. "Is the one inside Dr. Taylor?"
"Yes, it's only been half an hour, and she's already shown incredible skill. No wonder she was the expected of the legendary ace doctor. I've heard of such techniques but never seen them."
Piper sneered, "Whether she's really that good remains to be seen."
Several male doctors nearby laughed, "Even if the surgery is successful, your status in our hearts is unshakable! No one can replace you."
"Exactly! Since Aucester Hospital was founded, who doesn't know Dr. Rivera? Many people come to our hospital because of you."
Piper half-accepted the flattery.
At Aucester Hospital, everyone knew Piper. Her talent was one thing, her outstanding looks another, and also, the hospital's behind-the-scenes owner, Sebastian, was her cousin's fiancé. Even the president and vice president had to show her some respect.
Piper sipped her coffee, crossing her long legs as she watched Scarlett perform the surgery.
Meanwhile, in the chairman's office at MBK Group.
Brian sat on the sofa, slowly sipping tea.
After pouring him tea, Yancy stood by cautiously and asked, "Mr. Kingsley, did you send Scarlett to Aucester Hospital to involve her in George's project?"
Brian slowly rotated the cup in his hand, as if playing with a toy or a treasure. But whether it was a treasure or a toy, it had to be under his control.
"She is a rare talent, and talent should be used to its fullest potential." He paused, looking at Yancy with a slight sneer. "George's project has a startup fund of twenty million dollars. Do you think I would spend twenty million dollars to play a game with her?"
Yancy had been with Brian for over thirty years, but he still couldn't understand, so he asked, "Then what do you mean?"
Brian took a sip of tea and said slowly, "Gold needs to be refined and tempered. If it becomes fine gold, it is the best weapon. If it doesn't withstand the refining, it is waste. Fine gold will be used, waste will be discarded."
Yancy dared not ask further. As for how Brian intended to use Scarlett as a pawn, he couldn't imagine, butu he thought that Scarlett seemed to have entered one of Brian's chess games, with her every move being watched by him.
Even where she was headed, Brian had the final say.
Seeing Yancy remain silent, Brian said, "Many things need to be done slowly, without haste. You'll understand in time."
Yancy nodded, "Yes."
Brian stood up and walked over to the computer, his gaze shifting to the display screen filled with dense stock market flow charts, red and green lines intertwined.
Suddenly, his eyes caught one of the green lines, and he pressed his finger on the desk.
Moving the mouse, his gaze grew colder. "The Turner Group's stock price hasn't been doing well recently."
"This situation has been ongoing for three days, but stock price fluctuations are common. Mr. Kingsley, there's no need to be overly concerned." Yancy replied.
Brian nodded. He could ignore others, but the Turner family required his attention. How could he not pay attention to the family he was planning to ally with in the future?
The same display screen appeared in Lawrence's office.
Lawrence leaned back in his chair, a cigarette in his hand with a long ash that hadn't been flicked off. The room was filled with the smell of tobacco.
"Mr. Turner, here's the financial report for the month." The Turner Group's Chief Financial Officer handed the monthly financial report to Lawrence. Lawrence flipped through a page, and his face suddenly darkened. "How long has this been going on?"
"It's been a week. The stock price was stable in the first few days, but it has been fluctuating and dropping for the past three days." The CFO replied.
Lawrence waved his hand, "I understand."
"Mr. Turner, it seems like a new real estate crisis is unavoidable," the CFO cautiously suggested.
Lawrence rubbed his forehead with a complex expression. "If a real estate crisis erupts, the entire asset chain of the Turner Group will be severely impacted. It cannot be taken lightly."
"All departments are on high alert, trying to minimize the risk. Mr. Turner, there's no need to worry excessively."
Eight hours passed.
Late at night, Aucester Hospital.
"Congratulations, Scarlett! You are turely an eye-opener for all of us. It's incredible!" Scarlett walked out of the operating room, greeted by thunderous applause from all the doctors and specialists in cardiothoracic surgery. This groundbreaking moment was etched into the memory of everyone at Aucester Hospital.
George personally walked up to Scarlett, excitedly shaking her hand. His somewhat aged face looked even more tired from staying up all night, but his physical exhaustion couldn't dampen his excitement and exhilaration.
"Scarlett! With you around, Aucester Hospital is truly fortunate. Thank you! This is the first time a special mitral valve replacement surgery has been completed in the country!"
Scarlett removed her mask, her face looking a bit pale from the sustained high-intensity concentration. She gave a faint smile, her city-toppling beauty possessing an indescribable ethereal allure. "George, you're too kind. This is what I should do."
"Don't be modest. We watched the entire surgery, and your technique and skills were flawless!" George was clearly overexcited, struggling to find the right words to praise Scarlett, and finally let go of her hand after a long string of incoherent compliments.
A large group of people surrounded Scarlett, leaving Piper alone at the back.
Biting her lip hard, Piper clenched her fists and walked up. "Scarlett, congratulations on overcoming the technical challenge."
She extended her hand gracefully, her smile radiant and without a trace of malice.
The crowd chimed in, "Scarlett, you're the first doctor to be praised by Dr. Rivera. That's amazing!"
The operating room was bustling with laughter and praise late into the night, but seeing Piper, Scarlett suddenly felt a chill. She glanced at Piper's hand and gave it a brief shake. "Thank you."
Piper looked around at the dozen or so doctors present and smiled. "It's so late, everyone must be hungry. I'll treat everyone to a late-night snack. Order whatever you like."
"Great! Dr. Rivera is treating us! We must go!" Everyone was excited.
"Scarlett, are you coming?" Piper asked.
Seeing that it was already past 1 a.m., Scarlett shook her head and declined. "You all enjoy yourselves. I have something to do."
Piper smiled, "Aren't you going to cut me some slack?"
Scarlett pulled off her rubber gloves. "I'll treat everyone another day. I'm tired tonight."
George nodded, "Alright, Scarlett, get some rest. The hospital will arrange a separate celebration banquet for you. By the way, Scarlett, this surgery is a revolutionary breakthrough for Aucester Hospital. Prepare yourself in the coming days. Once the patient is out of danger, Aucester Hospital will hold a press conference."
The doctors nearby all turned to Geoge. "Does that mean the media will interview us?"
"Of course! This is not only a milestone for Aucester Hospital but also a milestone in Libertya's medical history. Scarlett, get ready for a bright future!" George's tone was meaningful, and the reactions of the onlookers varied.
Piper clenched her fists, her face tense and silent.
Scarlett frowned in displeasure. "If there's nothing else, I'll be leaving now."
She walked out of the corridor, leaving behind a crowd of admiring and envious gazes.
Back in the locker room, Scarlett took off her surgical gown and pulled out her phone from the pocket of her white coat. There was a long list of missed calls and unread messages.
Kevin had called over twenty times, followed by eight text messages: [Call me back when you see this, no matter what time it is.]
Scarlett's brows furrowed slightly as she continued scrolling.
A message from Sebastian quietly appeared on the screen.
