Chapter 204 Forcing Her to Divorce

"This..." Brandon hesitated on the phone.

Sebastian's nerves tightened. He wanted answers but feared they'd bring more pain.

"What's wrong?"

Brandon said, "Even Brooklyn probably doesn't know. That person left no trace."

"How could someone leave without a trace?"

"It's true. I've tried everything and found nothing. But Mr. Kingsley, isn't the real issue your wife? She's not ordinary. I wondered how you married her, and now I see why!"

Sebastian frowned. He had no idea.

He never dug into Brooklyn's past, just went by what she told him.

At first, he wanted to hear everything from her. Later, after everything that happened, he didn't want to hear anything.

"Any other findings?"

Brandon rubbed his nose. "Honestly, it took so long to find nothing that I'm doubting myself."

Sebastian looked down the hallway. "Maybe..."

'She was just too good at hiding, erasing her past so thoroughly,' he thought.

"Maybe what?"

"Nothing, just that your skills have regressed."

"Can't you say something nice?"

"I won't say what you want to hear."

"There's one more thing. Your wife had a crush in college, but that person left Averlake, so it went nowhere."

He didn't care about that!

"I don't want to wait any longer."

Sebastian said out of nowhere.

Brandon was stunned. "What are you going to do?"

"Confess to her."

Brandon exclaimed, "Did I hear that right? Confess?! To Brooklyn?"

He was shocked.

Sebastian had made up his mind. He didn't want to hide anymore. No matter what she thought, he had to tell her he loved her!

The next day, Brooklyn got up, stretched by the window, and was surprised to see lilies blooming in the flower bed.

The white lilies were bright and pure.

She was sure they weren't there a few days ago. 'How did they suddenly bloom?'

She leaned out to smell the flowers. The light, elegant fragrance was really pleasant.

At breakfast, the three of them sat in silence.

Sebastian forked a piece of broccoli for Brooklyn.

She was stunned, and so was Megan.

"Thank you."

"Pass me the milk," Sebastian said.

The milk was right between Brooklyn and Sebastian. 'Can't he get it himself? Does he really need me to serve him?'

"Fine."

She handed him the milk, but Sebastian didn't let go, his hand covering hers briefly. It felt oddly intimate.

Megan smiled warmly, "Sebastian, eat more of your favorite dishes."

She forked a piece of greens for him, smiling with her eyes.

"Working overtime today?"

He took a sip of milk, pretending to ask casually.

Brooklyn thought he was acting strange. "I shouldn't be working late. Why?"

He didn't say anything more. 'Good, she's not working overtime.'

Brooklyn went to work, and after her rounds, her phone rang.

"Brooklyn, free up your lunch break. I need to see you."

It was Jennifer!

Brooklyn felt a headache coming on.

"Yes, Jennifer."

All morning, Brooklyn was anxious about the noon meeting. 'What did Jennifer want?' she kept thinking. 'To scold me? To mock me?'

At noon, Brooklyn got off work and changed clothes to meet Jennifer.

In the restaurant, Jennifer wore an elegant cheongsam, exuding a noble and graceful aura.

"Sit down."

Jennifer's demeanor was cold and straightforward, as if she had lost patience with Brooklyn.

Brooklyn nodded, pulled out a chair, and sat down. "Jennifer, what do you need from me?"

Jennifer put down her coffee cup, opened her Hermès handbag, and pulled out a bank card, pushing it across the table.

"What's this?"

Jennifer sneered, "This is your purpose for marrying into the Kingsley family. It might not be enough for your ambition, but take this money and leave. I will never agree to you being with Sebastian. You will never set foot in the Kingsley family!"

Brooklyn wasn't shocked. Jennifer's words made her feel more grounded.

A VIP gold card from the bank, with a minimum deposit of fifty million dollars. So, there were at least tens of millions in it, a significant amount for a doctor.

"Jennifer, you want to use this money to force me to divorce Sebastian?"

"You're smart. I don't want to wait any longer. I'll give you a week to finalize the divorce with Sebastian. I don't know why he refuses to divorce, but let me make it clear: it's either you or me. If you want him to lose his mother, stay by his side. Otherwise, what awaits him is a public fallout with his mother!"

Jennifer was ruthless and decisive, always achieving her goals.

She issued her a final ultimatum: one week.
