Chapter 210 Triggering a Crisis

Brooklyn massaged her temples, craving some peace after a chaotic day. "I told you not to come. I'm leaving now."

Quinn pouted in disappointment. Brooklyn was too stubborn to be swayed.

"Alright. But you want to drink, come find me. I'll send my friends away to keep you company!" said Quinn.

"Just have fun. Don't worry about me." Brooklyn quickly hung up. She didn't want to deal with Sebastian or even talk much to Quinn.

Besides the noisy bar, there were quieter spots nearby.

Brooklyn parked and walked to a clean-looking bar.

Dario saw her and asked, "Boss, should we go over too?"

After a rough dinner, Sebastian supposed she didn't want to see him. He rolled down the window, watching her unsteady steps. There were lots of things going on in his mind, but he couldn't go up and hug her. "No, just wait here."

"Yes, sir."

Dario rarely saw Sebastian so sad, almost tasting the bitterness in the air.

The bar was crowded. Some drank alone, some rambled drunkenly, and others cried on the phone.

Brooklyn went to the restroom to wash her face, removing her smudged eyeliner. Her reflection showed a fresh, clean face, but her eyes were red from crying, and the swelling was obvious without makeup.

She returned to the bar and chose the most secluded spot.

"Mr. Kingsley, what are you looking at?"

Quinn ignored his friend, staring at the scene.

'What was going on? Didn't she go home? Why was she here?'

Quinn was about to ask when he saw a car parked outside. 'Sebastian's car?!!'

He wasn't drunk, so why was he seeing things? 'Brooklyn is drinking alone, and Sebastian's car is right outside? What is happening?'

"Brooklyn!"

Quinn barged in, pulling a chair between Brooklyn and a stranger, draping an arm over her shoulder like a child.

Brooklyn was stunned. "Quinn? You..."

'Damn, how did we end up at the same place? Quinn likes lively bars, so why is he here? This place doesn't match his playful personality at all,' Brooklyn thought.

"Birds of a feather flock together, Brooklyn. We're like family. But where's Sebastian? His car seems to be outside."

'Did he follow me?' thought Brooklyn.

Brooklyn felt too hurt to speak, taking a sip of water.

"Oh! Did you guys have a fight? It's normal for couples to argue. It'll blow over. If you're feeling down, you can crash at Kingsley Villa tonight. We can go together!"

Brooklyn didn't want to say much in front of Quinn. "Yeah, we had a fight. It's a couple's issue. Stay out of it, or Sebastian might beat you up."

Quinn fiddled with the trinkets on his clothes. "Brooklyn, Sebastian's cold on the outside but warm on the inside. He's really kind! Don't be fooled by his strict and cold demeanor towards me. He even gives me money to have fun."

'Cold on the outside but warm on the inside? Maybe, but it doesn't matter to me anymore.'

"Alright, you have fun. I'm going home."

Trying to find peace but ending up with trouble, Brooklyn stood up to leave.

Quinn awkwardly smiled. "Sebastian is right outside. Don't you want to give him a chance?"

"Adult matters are not for kids to meddle in, got it?" Brooklyn snapped, shutting him up.

Quinn had no choice but to shut up and go find his friends.

Brooklyn left the bar, the cool breeze lifting her hair and the hem of her clothes. She looked beautiful tonight but also very weary, fragile enough to make Sebastian want to protect her.

The wind cleared Brooklyn's mind, making the harsh reality even sharper.

"Dr. Mitchell."

Hearing her name, Brooklyn turned to see Zach walking against the wind.

'What was going on tonight?'

"A colleague told me you were at the bar. I was worried about you being alone, so I came to check on you," Zach's gentle voice drifted through the night.

Brooklyn felt warmth in her heart but still kept her distance. "I'm about to go home."

Seeing her red eyes, Zach guessed she hadn't had a good night. "If you want, I can keep you company. Being alone might make you overthink."

A vulnerable Brooklyn meeting a sincere and passionate Zach—if she didn't feel any anything, it would defy medical logic.

'But I'm sorry, I can't accept your kindness,' Brooklyn thought.

Brooklyn took a small step back. "I'm fine. I'll handle it. Thank you, Mr. Carter."

Zach couldn't help but grasp her wrist. He had rushed over with so much to say, but she clearly wasn't in the mood to listen. "If you're ever tired or weary, I'll be waiting for you."

Brooklyn's eyes welled up. "Thank you, but I'm sorry, I can't."

"Boss, Ms. Mitchell."

Sebastian's deep eyes were filled with anger. He resisted the urge to get out and confront Zach, feeling a burning rage inside.

"Drive back!"
