Chapter 162: I Wish You All Happiness!
Kelly's outburst left a young emergency room doctor startled, unable to grasp the meaning behind her fierce demeanor. Kelly was absolutely furious.
"You mean Dr. Mitchell, right?" the doctor asked.
"Obviously! Who else could it be? How is she? Is she okay?" Kelly shouted.
Another doctor, taken aback by Kelly's appearance, swallowed nervously. Doctors generally had a sense of cleanliness. Kelly's disheveled look and complexion were quite visually striking.
"The poison in Dr. Mitchell's body hasn't been neutralized yet, but..." another doctor said.
"Not neutralized yet? Damn it! Are you all incompetent doctors here? It's been hours, and you're telling me the poison in her body still hasn't been neutralized?" Kelly was irritated.
The doctor was taken aback by her barrage of criticism and was left speechless. "Madam, we've done everything we can, but this poison is potent, so..."
"Are you telling me that my bestie isn't going to make it?!" Kelly asked.
Kelly, her slender frame clutching the doctors' uniform tightly, was on the verge of erupting into a physical altercation.
The two doctors exchanged glances, shocked. "Madam, that's not what we meant. Please let us finish. Dr. Carter personally led the rescue just now. Trust me, Dr. Carter cares more about Dr. Mitchell than you do. The poison in Dr. Mitchell's body is being neutralized, but it takes time, understand?"
Kelly finally released their uniforms, her previous grip having torn off a few buttons. The doctors' white uniforms now hung crookedly on them.
"As long as she's okay, that's all that matters. If anything happens to her, I'll blow up this hospital!" Kelly threatened.
The two doctors hastily left.
As a woman barely reaching five feet tall but with explosive force, Kelly was like a fierce warrior. In a short while, Brooklyn was wheeled out, with Zach by her side, his eyes bloodshot from crying.
Kelly wiped her face haphazardly, looking up and seeing Zach. After a night of turmoil, his face showed undeniable fatigue, his hair disheveled atop his head. Yet, even in this state, it didn't diminish his extraordinary appearance, with his elegant and handsome face.
Kelly couldn't help but blurt out, "Zach?"
Zach, fully focused on Brooklyn, couldn't engage in conversation. He replied briefly, acknowledging her question.
Kelly swallowed hard. "You like Brooklyn, don't you?"
Zach blushed at the question. "Is that not allowed?"
Kelly was so delighted she momentarily forgot Brooklyn was still in critical condition. "Yes! Absolutely! Dr. Carter, thank you so much."
The sudden change in Kelly's expression and tone was quite rapid.
Accompanying Brooklyn to the observation room, Kelly stole glances at Zach along the way. Having only heard Brooklyn mention Zach in passing, Kelly had assumed Dr. Carter was an older man. She couldn't believe an older man could be interested in a young female doctor. But now she realized that Zach was young, charismatic, and incredibly handsome.
"Brooklyn, are you blind? How would you reject such a high-quality man like him, loyal and devoted, and still pine for that heartless Sebastian?" Kelly was confused.
In the hospital room, Zach remained by Brooklyn's side. Kelly, usually carefree, could see the depth of Zach's feelings for Brooklyn in his eyes, deep as the sea, tender as a moonlight.
Out of courtesy, Zach couldn't hold Brooklyn's hand, but his gaze enveloped her tightly like an embrace.
The pale figure on the bed only breathed softly. Kelly wiped her face and scolded gently, "You fool, you're such a fool."
Confused by Kelly's words, Zach didn't want to hear Brooklyn being scolded. "Why do you call her that?"
Kelly, looking down at Brooklyn, smiled mischievously. He was catching on.
Setting aside the towel, Kelly looked at Zach seriously. His appearance seemed even more handsome now. Probably feeling that pajamas were inappropriate, Zach had put on the white uniform the nurse had brought, and his clothes underneath were unseen. Excluding his feet, he looked remarkably refined and clean.
"I mean Brooklyn is a fool in matters of relations. Do you know what I mean?" Kelly asked.
"About being married?" Zach answered.
His reply was natural, almost as if to regard Kelly as his alliance.
Kelly widened her eyes. "Excuse me, do you know she's already married? Do you know who her husband is?"
Zach nodded.
Gritting her teeth, Kelly abandoned all pretense. "Dr. Carter, since you already know, I won't hide it from you. I've known Brooklyn for many years. Her life has been incredibly tough."
Thinking about her family background and her three-year marriage, Kelly couldn't hold her tears any longer.
Sniffling, Kelly continued, "Anyway, Brooklyn has had it really tough, suffering a lot. Her marriage with that jerk is like a prison, turning my goddess into a servant. Since you like her, please always care for her."
"Brooklyn is very smart, but when it comes to matters of a relationship, she struggles. So, please be patient with her. I can see you care a lot about her. Please save her and pull her out of that whirlpool. Can you do that?" Kelly asked.
Kelly's plea was sincere and urgent like a parent entrusting a child. She genuinely hoped for Brooklyn's happiness. Only by leaving Sebastian could she find true happiness.
Zach patiently listened to her words, then nodded decisively. "Don't worry, I will."
Kelly wiped away tears, saying, "Really? Then I wish you all happiness!"
