Chapter 209 Brooklyn, You Idiot!
Brooklyn hung her head, sobbing, "Sebastian, when did you get so unreasonable? I've made my feelings clear. If you don't sign, we'll still get divorced after we separate for a while."
Sebastian shoved the table, smashing dishes. He stepped on the broken glass and grabbed her. "Separation means no sex. Are you really going to force me?"
Brooklyn glared at him. "Let go of me! Get out of my house!"
She struggled, pushing him away.
"Brooklyn, I won't let you leave me, not today, not ever." He softened his grip, wrapping around her waist.
Brooklyn sneered, "I said, leave. This is my house. Get out now."
"You invited me here. Did you think I'd leave so easily?" His strong arms trapped her, and his warm breath was on her hair.
Brooklyn's eyes filled with tears. "Fine, if you won't leave, I will!"
'What was I thinking? Inviting him over? Cooking for him? Thinking we could part peacefully?'
Brooklyn slammed the door and left.
Sebastian stood there, bathed in moonlight, feeling empty and alone.
He glanced at the jewelry box on the table and realized she was angry because Megan had the same piece, but it wasn't from him.
"Tell Megan she's banned from Bayside Villas," Sebastian instructed Dario coldly.
"Yes!"
Worried about Brooklyn, Sebastian added, "Brooklyn just drove off. Follow her."
He had completely fallen for Brooklyn. She was the love of his life. How could he let divorce papers separate them?
Brooklyn drove aimlessly, tears streaming down her face. If she didn't love Sebastian deeply, she wouldn't have let him torment her for three years.
She pulled out her phone and texted Jennifer, [We're getting divorced. Don't worry.]
Brooklyn felt too exhausted to keep driving. She parked under a tree-lined road and leaned back in her seat to relax.
She'd heard marriage was the grave of love, but thinking about her years with Sebastian, she wondered if love ever existed between them.
Tears slid down her cheeks. The dim streetlights cast shadows on the windshield, illuminating her face intermittently. Through her blurry tears, she couldn't see the road ahead or return to the past.
Unbeknownst to her, Sebastian had been following her since she left home.
Dario gripped the steering wheel tightly, avoiding eye contact with Sebastian, who radiated a cold aura.
'What happened to the boss? He was in a good mood before dinner. How did one meal change everything?' Dario thought.
Sebastian's eyes were deep and empty. He replayed the image of Brooklyn's tears. He hadn't realized how much her tears hurt him until now.
He loved her, and this realization grew stronger and more certain. He couldn't lose her.
Brooklyn's phone screen lit up. But she didn't want to answer. However, when she saw the caller ID "Quinn" on the screen, she tensed up.
'Why is he calling? Did Sebastian notify him?' she thought.
Quinn's excited voice came through, "Brooklyn! Are you on Lotus Avenue? I think I saw your car. Are you driving?"
Brooklyn hadn't paid attention to where she was. Quinn's reminder made her realize she was near Lotus Avenue, close to a street full of bars and nightlife.
"It's me," Brooklyn sniffed, trying to fake a cold.
Quinn, not noticing her tone over the loud music, laughed, "Come on, Brooklyn, I'll buy you a drink. Being a doctor with no nightlife is boring. Women need nightlife too. I promise I won't tell Sebastian!"
Brooklyn frowned. She didn't like bars, but tonight she wanted a few drinks to numb her pain.
"No, I need to go home later. You have fun."
"Come on, Brooklyn, you're so close by. Join us! Or, I could come pick you up? It's just a five-minute walk. Wait for me!"
