Chapter 383 Scarlett and Brian Play Mind Games

Quinn scratched his head, still not daring to tell Brian the truth. "I thought it looked nice, so I bought it. What do you think, Dad?"

Brian glanced at the ring and then at Quinn, who was obviously lying. His voice was low and steady, with a hint of displeasure. "Do you really think you can fool me with that trick? Are you interested in Sebastian's private doctor?"

Faced with Brian's question, Quinn was shocked. How could he got found out this quickly?

Quinn scratched his head, avoided the main point, and replied ambiguously, "Dad, I'm single, and she's unmarried. Even if I like her, what's the big deal? What do you think about her being my girlfriend? Isn't she pretty?"

Brian snorted lightly. "You want to pursue her? I'm afraid you won't even know how you got played in the end. Don't get any ideas."

Quinn was defiant. "I don't believe it. I'm definitely going to win Scarlett over."

Brian scrutinized Quinn. Usually, Quinn didn't care much about anything, but he was so determined about Scarlett. Was it true love or just a whim?

"I disagree. Also, you're not young anymore. Now that you're officially involved in the company's management, it's time to prepare for your own marriage. In a few days, I'll arrange for you to meet the daughter of the Rainbow Group."

Quinn's eyes almost popped out, his mouth agape as he looked at Brian. "Dad, you're setting me up on a blind date?"

"You want to refuse?" Brian's simple rhetorical question immediately made Quinn lose his confidence.

Quinn lowered his head. "I'll listen to you."

Brian patted Quinn's shoulder with his big hand. "Remember, don't follow Sebastian's example. He almost ruined his future for a woman."

Quinn didn't respond or resist outwardly, but he was stronly against it in his heart.

He admired Sebastian. If he met a woman he truly loved, he would be willing to risk his future, even his life.

Two days passed at a steady pace. Every day, Scarlett prepared breakfast and dinner for Sebastian on time, varying the dishes to let him savor familiar flavors he had enjoyed in the past.

On the third day, She got up and went for a run.

Unexpectedly, she found Sebastian also dressed in sportswear. When she went out, he went out too.

They met unexpectedly in the hallway on the second floor.

It was the first time Scarlett saw Sebastian in sportswear. He wore a pure white tracksuit, with loose-fitting top and pants, yet he managed to look clean, refreshing, and handsome. She had to admit, with his handsome face and tall, well-proportioned figure, even if he wore bed sheets, he would still exude the aura of an aristocratic young gentleman.

"Good morning, Mr. Kingsley," Scarlett smiled at the love-deprived Sebastian.

He responded faintly, "Let's go."

Did he wanted to run with her?

Scarlett was momentarily stunned but nodded. "Okay."

Dressed in black sportswear, Scarlett ran side by side with the all-white Sebastian around the garden in the villa's large courtyard. The garden paths were winding, and one lap was at least 1300 feet, equivalent to a standard track. They ran two laps without saying a word.

At first, they ran side by side, but by the third lap, Scarlett couldn't keep up with Sebastian. Watching his straight back, Scarlett was a bit lost.

Sebastian, with his broad shoulders and long legs, moved through the shadowy garden, his back straight and attractive. Especially when the sunlight slanted, his hair glowed!

He slowed down to wait for Scarlett for a few seconds. When she caught up, he spoke, "Have you thought about my proposal?"

Scarlett frowned slightly. "So early in the morning, Mr. Kingsley, are you sure you want to ruin the mood?"

Sebastian turned his head, his forehead slightly sweaty, looking masculine and robust, not at all like a man who had a knife cut through his heart. "The mood between us is good?"

Scarlett pouted. "When you're not talking, it's okay."

"Then consider it ruined. Answer me, have you thought about it?"

They ran side by side, not in a hurry, occasionally brushing against each other's arms or accidentally bumping into each other's legs. At first, it felt awkward, but after a while, they got used to it.

"My answer hasn't changed. I won't consider your proposal. And I don't need any help from you. I believe Mr. Kingsley isn't a petty person and wouldn't do bad things." she replied.

Sebastian looked down at her. With her ponytail, had a clean and smooth face, white with a hint of red, full of youth and vitality. She looked very young, like a fresh college graduate, innocent and reserved. But after getting to know her, one would find she was a biting scorpion.

He sneered, "I will do what I need to do. It's just a matter of time and opportunity, and also, my mood."

Scarlett chuckled. "Mr. Kingsley, it easy for me to misunderstand that you've fallen for me. I'm not like your fiancée, who waits obediently for you even if you ignore her for ten days or half a month, like a cat."

Sebastian suddenly stopped, his long legs standing on the garden path. "Of course, you're different. You're a cheetah, you could kill a cat with one bite."

Scarlett's clear, bright eyes looked back at Sebastian, her lips curling. "You're wrong. I'm not a cheetah, I'm a deceitful wolf."

She was good at self-deprecation!

Sebastian started running again, catching up to Scarlett's slender figure.

He would let her know that whether she was a wolf or a leopard, he was the best hunter.

MBK Group, Chairman's Office.

Brian put down the phone, took a sip of his freshly brewed coffee, and called Yancy inside. "Contact Scarlett. I want to see her."

Yancy was momentarily surprised. "Mr. Kingsley, why do you suddenly want to see her?"

Brian glanced sideways at the landline. "Do you know who just called me?"

Yancy shook his head. "Please enlighten me, Mr. Kingsley."

"Kevin called."

Yancy's back stiffened. "He called you directly? Kevin's got some nerve."

Brian snorted. "For Scarlett, his courage has grown. He directly asked me for her."

From Brian's tone, it was clear he didn't have a high opinion of Kevin.

Scarlett was very surprised to receive Yancy's call and even more surprised to hear his explanation.

Brian actually wanted to see her?

Filled with doubts, Scarlett arrived at the agreed location, Aucester's most exclusive tea house, where a cup of tea cost more than a bottle of wine.

A waiter guided she through pavilions and towers to a courtyard with an artificial lake. On the lake was a pavilion with open windows, surrounded by floating lotus leaves.

Walking across a winding bridge, Scarlett saw Brian sitting alone in the pavilion, drinking tea. He was dressed in a black suit with a dark blue tie, his appearance rigid and severe, matching his serious face.

His gaze was like a snake's, chilling to the soul.

Seeing Scarlett, Brian couldn't help but frown. Scarlett indeed had the looks to captivate Quinn.

"Hello, Mr. Kingsley."

Brian was suddenly shaken, his fingers tightening around the teacup. That familiar voice!

With just one sentence, Brian understood everything. Scarlett, who had captivated both of his sons, was clearly not just about looks. "Hello, Ms. Taylor. Please, have a seat."

Scarlett sat across from Brian, on the table was a set of exquisite tea utensils, with the fragrance of tea lingering in the air, perfectly complementing the scenic lake and mountains.

"I wonder why Mr. Kingsley wanted to see me," Scarlett said, sitting on a low stone stool, her mind racing about why the three men of the Kingsley family had sought her out one after another.

Brian poured Scarlett a cup of tea, gesturing for her to drink before speaking. "Ms. Taylor, you've been in Libertya for quite some time, haven't you?"

Had Brian secretly investigated her?

Scarlett's eyes narrowed slightly. "Almost twenty days."

Brian nodded. "Haven't you thought about going back? Your family must be worried."

Scarlett found the tea increasingly unpalatable. "I've always planned to go back, but my patient hasn't recovered yet, so I can't leave."

Brian couldn't help but take another look at Scarlett. Her tone was neither humble nor arrogant, displaying a calmness and elegance beyond her years. "I heard you're already engaged?"

"That's right. My fiancé is in Averlake, and we're about to get married." she replied.

This statement clearly indicated she had no interest in his sons.

Brian was slightly taken aback. "Ms. Taylor, don't you know that there are some unsavory rumors about you and my son Sebastian?"

The situation was becoming increasingly unpleasant, and Scarlett really couldn't drink the tea anymore. "Mr. Kingsley, you said they are just rumors. There is nothing improper between your son and me."

Scarlett dared to argue with him, quite bold.

Brian snorted lightly. "Don't you know that rumors can become reality if enough people believe them?"

Scarlett smiled. "I only know that wise people don't believe in rumors."

Brian's eyes showed a hint of approval, though he didn't show it openly.

Scarlett, whether in background or ability, was outstanding. If only...

He changed the subject. "Ms. Taylor, how is Sebastian's condition now?"

Was Brain just now thinking to ask about Sebastian's situation?

"He mainly has an emotional distress. Physically, he's fine, but treating his psychological problem will take some effort." She replied.

Brian sipped his tea. "Do you have confidence in your medical skills to cure him?"

Scarlett shook her head. "No, but I'll do my best."

Brian looked at the tea leaves floating in the teacup. "Since you're not confident, why would he let you stay by his side?"

"You can ask your son that question yourself. Also, Mr. Kingsley, I doubt you called me here today just to ask about your son's condition. What do you really want to discuss?"

Scarlett is truly too bold!

Brian frowned but smiled. "You're the first person to speak to me like this."

The sudden change in attitude made Brian seem like a kind and benevolent elder.

Scarlett returned a smile. "It only means that the people who spoke to you before were too good at pretending or were afraid to speak frankly because of your power.. But there's no conflict of interest between us, so I have no need to please you. On the contrary, since I'm treating your son's illness, you should be the one pleasing me."

Brian suddenly laughed heartily, placing his cup neatly on the stone table. At that moment, he changed his initial intention for meeting her today.

It would be a pity to let her go!

Brian adjusted his tie. "Ms. Taylor, how about we discuss a collaboration?"

Scarlett's lips curled and smiled. "Collaboration?"
