Chapter 483 Both Sarcastic and Wicked

Brooklyn smiled quietly. Sebastian, a man whose thoughts ran deeper than the ocean and were harder to predict, had a knack for dealing with people both openly and covertly. No matter the method, once he made a move, it was enough to make the opponent suffer.

When it came to Kevin, it was clear that Sebastian didn't even bother with subtlety.

"Mr. Kingsley, you're insulting me," Kevin said, trying to keep his usual cool. Though he was fuming inside, he kept his expression calm.

Sebastian, still holding Brooklyn's hand, effortlessly shattered Kevin's defenses with his calm demeanor. "Mr. King, you're smart enough to know the difference between a compliment and an insult. I don't need to spell it out, do I?"

The woman beside Kevin, with her rose-colored lips, was ready to jump to his defense. "Mr. Kingsley, your words are too harsh. I know you're a big deal in Aucester, but I didn't expect you to be so hurtful."

Before Sebastian could respond, Brooklyn stepped forward, her radiant smile instantly diminishing the woman's confidence. "Miss, stating facts and insulting someone are two different things. Kevin understands that, don't you?"

Sebastian's eyes remained steady, but the fleeting smile on his lips revealed his good mood. His wife truly delighted him.

The woman was left speechless by Brooklyn's words. She wanted to retort but was unable to find the words, so she could only respond with a cold smile.

Kevin, trying to ease the tension, changed the subject. "Daisy and I are going to check out the front. What are your plans?"

Sebastian replied, "We'll just walk around. Please, go ahead."

"Alright..." Kevin's longing gaze lingered on Brooklyn, but he had to move on. As he passed by, he took one last look before walking away.

Once they were alone, Brooklyn sighed. "I never thought Kevin and I would end up like this."

Once considered a perfect match, everything had changed.

Kevin had secretly tried to undermine the Taylor Group, almost pushing it to the brink. He seemed harmless on the surface, but was a constant threat.

Sebastian led her away, not wanting to stay in the same air. Walking hand in hand through the streets of Emporcia, they were a striking couple, but they only had eyes for each other.

"You're not at this point with him; you were always on different paths. He was using the Taylor Group from the start. Now that his plan failed, he's openly hostile. But I have to admire Kevin; he can still talk about your family after pulling out his investment."

Sebastian shook his head, unwilling to comment further on Kevin.

Brooklyn shrugged, exhaling a cold breath. "I guess Mr. Kingsley isn't that shameless."

"If it's a contest of shamelessness, I concede." Sebastian smiled, his expression full of noble sarcasm.

Brooklyn pouted. "High-level schemer!"

After the brief encounter, they enjoyed a relaxed and pleasant time. Brooklyn didn't experience any dizziness or headaches, making her wonder if she was ever sick.

"Sebastian, if the blood clot in my brain is benign, maybe I won't need surgery."

On the way back from their outing, Brooklyn suddenly brought it up.

Sebastian looked at her intently. "Are you afraid of surgery?"

Brooklyn nodded, honestly admitting her fear.

"Any surgery can damage nerves, especially brain surgery. Post-surgery, you can't fully return to your previous state. It's a fact. Plus, the complications can be troublesome. Generally, if surgery can be avoided, it is."

Having performed many heart surgeries, she couldn't help but think about the impact of one on herself.

Sebastian held her hand tightly, comforting her. "No matter the aftermath, I'll be by your side. If you can't be a doctor anymore, you can focus on being Mrs. Kingsley. We can have children, and you can stay with me and the kids."

The word "children" came so naturally from him, surprising Brooklyn, who had never discussed it with him.

"Children... I'm not in a condition to get pregnant now."

In her heart, she wanted to be a mother and have a baby with him.

"No rush. You're the priority. We'll have children later."

With him holding her shoulder, his gentle words warmed her heart.

"If medication can dissolve the clot, that would be best. I hope the experts here can offer a better treatment plan."

"They'll do their best. Just keep a positive mindset and don't let this get to you. Everything's gonna be fine."

She closed her eyes, leaning against his chest, breathing in his scent, and said, "Sebastian, I feel really happy right now."

"You'll be even happier."

"Mr. Kingsley, Mrs. Kingsley, the expert team is ready. Please come in."

"Alright."

They headed to the hospital for pre-surgery tests. Brooklyn was led to the comprehensive examination room, with Sebastian by her side, never leaving her.

His every gesture and look provided her with immense encouragement, making the daunting tests seem easy.

After all the tests, they waited for the experts' final results.

The answer shocked them.

Dr. Everett Stevens approached with some papers, looking surprised. "Mrs. Kingsley, you don't need brain surgery. The clot isn't pressing on the central nerves and won't affect your daily life unless you experience extreme emotions."

Brooklyn was stunned. "Dr. Stevens, my previous tests showed the clot in a different location. I'm sure of it."

Everett's forehead wrinkled deeply. "But the current location is stable. I'll prescribe medication to dissolve the clot, though it will take time. But don't worry, there are no side effects."

Sebastian, holding Brooklyn's hand, said, "Create the best treatment plan. The duration doesn't matter; I want absolute safety."

"Mr. Kingsley, we'll tailor the plan to Mrs. Kingsley's needs. But I need your consent on one matter."

Everett adjusted his glasses, looking at them deeply.

"Of course, go ahead."

"Medication might slightly affect fertility. It's best not to plan for pregnancy during this period. Can you accept that?"

Brooklyn immediately asked, "How long?"

Sebastian was surprised by her concern but felt pleased.

"Six months, but it depends on the recovery. It could be three months if things go well."

Sebastian squeezed Brooklyn's hand and nodded. "Alright."

Everett's plan was the best, crafted by a top medical team just for Brooklyn.

Looking at the thick treatment plan, Brooklyn couldn't help but laugh. "Is this a treatment plan or a business proposal? I've never seen such detailed doctor notes."

"That's because Dr. Mitchell's patients never received the level of care Mrs. Kingsley is getting." Sebastian took the thick file from her, collected the medication, and left the hospital.

Outside, the sky was clear, and the warm breeze was gentle. This afternoon felt more beautiful than ever.

The wind brushed through her hair, separating two worlds. She couldn't believe she had avoided surgery, prepared for the worst, but fate was kind.

"Where do you want to go? Now that you don't have to worry about your condition, let's relax." His loving voice was soothing.

Brooklyn thought for a moment. "I want to take you somewhere I used to go often."

"Alright."

Without hesitation, he agreed to go wherever she wanted.

In the car, Brooklyn teased, "Aren't you curious where we're going? Aren't you afraid I'll sell you out or kidnap you for ransom?"

They were sitting close together, their shoulders touching, almost glued.

"I'm not afraid. Wherever Mrs. Kingsley wants to go, I'll follow."

He smiled, his expression charming. Before she could express her gratitude, he added, "Half a year... I'll have to endure some hardship."

Brooklyn squinted. "I'm taking medication and getting treated. What hardship are you enduring?"

Sebastian sighed, pretending to be aggrieved. "You can't get pregnant or take birth control during treatment. What do you think I'll endure?"

Brooklyn was speechless, unable to find a retort.

After a while, she managed to say, "Not just sharp-tongued, but also bad."

The car drove smoothly through Emporcia's bustling city, quickly reaching the outskirts of Averlake. The view was wide, and the area was sparsely populated, with private villas separated by large spaces.

The setting sun bathed the west in golden light, and the scenery was breathtaking through the car window.

Finally, the car stopped outside a large private courtyard filled with flowers and connected to a white two-story house with a rustic, simple, and cozy design.

Sebastian looked around the courtyard, nodding in approval. "What is this place?"

Brooklyn opened the low wooden gate. "This is my private retreat. Mr. Kingsley, please come in."
