Chapter 430 The Game of Cat and Wolf

The ward suddenly fell silent. Sebastian, the ultimate conversation stopper, had shut everyone up with just one sentence.

He actually buried the rings together?

Could this action be any more freaky?

Quinn choked and coughed several times before saying, "Sebastian, that wedding ring isn't just any ordinary thing. Isn't it bad to lose it?"

Kelly quickly chimed in, following Quinn's lead, "Generally speaking, between husband and wife, the wedding ring is quite important. Mr. Kingsley, don't you think..."

Brooklyn didn't rush to speak. She just watched Sebastian, who was being attacked from both sides, with a smile. The smile on her lips was subtle yet noticeable.

Brooklyn thought to herself, 'Sebastian, you handle this.'

Sebastian clearly wasn't going to be tormented by this matter. He remained calm and composed, showing no emotion. "I'll take care of the ring. You two are worrying too much."

Quinn insisted, "I'm being sincere, Brooklyn. The ring Sebastian had custom-made back then was said to be of very high quality."

Sebastian said, "Quinn, since you're so reluctant to let it go, I'll give you the coordinates. How about you dive in and retrieve it?"

Kelly fell silent.

Kelly had finally found a chance to counterattack Sebastian, but it was resolved so quickly. Quinn and Kelly together weren't even half as effective as Sebastian.

Quinn took an apple from the fruit plate and tossed it to Kelly. "Kelly, have an apple."

Kelly caught the flying apple with both hands and started eating.

Quinn took a bite of his own apple. "Kelly, you look like a little girl who never grows up."

"Quinn! I'm just short!"

Kelly stretched out her hands to scratch Quinn, and the two of them chased each other around the ward before leaving.

Given the atmosphere just now, if they didn't leave, they would probably be stared at by Sebastian the whole time.

Finally, the annoying people left, and the ward was once again harmonious with just Sebastian and Brooklyn. Brooklyn, who had been watching the whole time from the bed, finally spoke with a smile.

Brooklyn smiled, "Sebastian, it seems my team is bigger than yours. Even Quinn has defected to my side. How does it feel to be alone?"

Sebastian took a fragrant mango from the fruit plate, peeled it slice by slice. "Do I need help?"

"Don't you?" Brooklyn's bright eyes remained clear. She was in a very good mood.

"No. You can continue to expand your team, but in front of me, your allies are no match, whether I take them down one by one or all at once."

Brooklyn let out a light snort. "You're just like before, your narcissism only grows."

Sebastian finished peeling the mango, sliced it evenly, and placed it on a transparent glass plate with a delicate fruit fork.

He enjoyed it. "Thanks for the compliment."

The sticky mango juice didn't get on his hands at all during the peeling process. His fair, clean, and slender hands remained spotless.

Whenever Brooklyn peeled a mango, her hands were almost always covered in the orange-yellow juice.

"Sebastian, how many times have you practiced? You can peel a mango so cleanly? Professional level." She asked.

He forked a piece and put it in her mouth. The sweet and fragrant mango tasted better than anything she remembered.

Sebastian took a few tissues and wiped his hands, which had nothing on them. "That was my first time."

"First time?"

Sebastian nodded. "Something this simple, does it need a lot of practice? Master the technique, understand the growth pattern of the peel, and follow it. It's that simple."

Brooklyn, with her mouth full, puffed her cheeks and said, "You're not lying to me, are you?"

Sebastian smiled indulgently at her, one hand gently ruffling her hair. His deep, dark eyes sparkled with a cunning light. "This is the difference between using your brain and using brute force. So, Mrs. Kingsley, the strength of a team isn't about the number of people, but about your mind."

He lightly tapped her head with his finger, like teasing a child.

Brooklyn looked up, swallowed the mango, and glanced at the door of the ward. "Then, Mr. Kingsley, please fully utilize your high IQ later."

As she finished speaking, there was a knock on the door.

Sebastian withdrew his hand, his tall figure turned towards the door, a slight frown of displeasure appearing on his face. "Alright."

He forked another piece of orange-yellow fruit and put it in her mouth, indulgently.

"Come in."

The elegant and unmatched Sebastian sat back on the sofa, casually picked up a document, crossed one leg over the other, and looked leisurely and indifferent.

Piper stood at the door in a white lab coat, smiling slightly. "Scarlett, I'm really sorry. I've been so busy that I only now have time to see you."

Scarlett?

Did Piper not know?

Brooklyn's peripheral vision glanced at Sebastian, a hint of cunning in her eyes, hidden but present.

Sure enough, Sebastian casually said, "Since Dr. Rivera is so busy, you should go back to work. We don't need your help here."

Piper smiled gracefully, looking completely unaware. "Sebastian, that's not quite appropriate, is it? Scarlett is a doctor at Aucester Hospital. We're colleagues. If something happens to her, of course, I should come to see her."

Brooklyn wore a faint, almost imperceptible smile, a blend of politeness and sarcasm.

Sebastian turned a page in his document and continued, "So, Dr. Rivera, you're not just Scarlett's colleague but also the head of cardiology. Let me ask you, if an employee has an accident at a celebration party, as a leader, shouldn't you explain or take responsibility?"

Piper was momentarily speechless, awkwardly laughing and changing the subject. "Scarlett, you're so lucky to have Sebastian as your personal doctor. When you're not well, he takes care of you himself. He didn't even have time to accompany his fiancée when she was hospitalized."

Brooklyn finished the fruit in her mouth, wiped her lips, and smiled slightly, polite and harmless, friendly and kind. "Maybe the fiancée wasn't qualified enough. But a wife, that's a different story."

She crumpled the used tissue into a ball, squeezed it tightly, and it became a solid little ball.

Piper's back straightened noticeably, then she pretended not to understand. "Scarlett, I don't get what you mean."

Brooklyn tossed the paper ball, drawing a white arc into the trash can.

"Oh? Right, I almost forgot to explain. Dr. Rivera, long time no see. Do you remember me? The last time we met was in Jabari. Remember? That heavy rain, the earthquake, the downpour in the disaster area, it was quite something."

Piper's hands clenched silently in her large pockets, her lips bit slightly. "You're Brooklyn?"

She smiled slightly. "Hard to believe? I guess so. I was diagnosed with AIDS, a disease that shouldn't have let me live this long, let alone survive a fall off a cliff."

Her smile deepened, especially the sharpness in her eyes, seemingly able to see through Piper's panic and feigned calmness!

Piper's mouth twitched, then she laughed in shock. "You're really Brooklyn? That's wonderful! It's no wonder Sebastian stays by your side all the time! No wonder he canceled his engagement with Megan."

Brooklyn chuckled, her fair and delicate face full of sarcasm. "Speaking of which, I really envy Megan for having such a good cousin. I don't have a cousin, so I ended up with AIDS and almost died at the bottom of a cliff."

Piper gritted her teeth, smiling. "Since you're fine, I'll get back to work."

Brooklyn nodded. "Alright, take care, Dr. Rivera. I won't see you out."

Piper turned angrily, glanced at Sebastian, but he kept his eyes on the document, not even giving her a look.

Just as her hand touched the doorknob, Brooklyn's voice came from behind. "Dr. Rivera, since we'll still be colleagues, please take care of me!"

Piper didn't respond and pushed the door open!

After she left, Brooklyn smiled lightly. "What an actress!"

Sebastian turned another page. "You have a lot of patience with her. Since you know she's the one who framed you, why not expose her directly? If you don't want to see her again, I can have her leave Aucester Hospital immediately."

Brooklyn shook her head. "What's the rush? Right now, I'm the cat, and she's the mouse. I don't like to kill in one bite. Let her be. After all, the person I want to deal with most isn't her."

Sebastian's mouth curved into a sly smile. "Brooklyn, we really are becoming more and more like each other."

Brooklyn, having finished eating, put down the fruit plate. "It's your influence." Seeing Sebastian pretending to review documents, she frowned. "Are you really looking at those files?"

Wasn't he just putting on a show for Piper?

"I don't have time to play petty games with Piper. I prefer being a wolf, taking down my prey in one bite."

Brooklyn shrugged. She had to admit, Sebastian was indeed like a wolf.

As they spoke, the door to the ward sounded again.

Sebastian and Brooklyn both looked up, exchanging a smile. Brooklyn asked, "Do you think this person is your opponent or mine?"

Sebastian raised an eyebrow, smiling cunningly. "Why can't it be both of ours?"
