Chapter 115 Could She Be Falling for Him
After speaking, she suddenly realized she might have said too much. Brooklyn quickly adjusted her demeanor to cover up the awkwardness. "I have something to do, so I'll be leaving now."
Brooklyn frowned, thinking, 'Why did I always reveal my true feelings so easily in front of Zach?
'Could I be falling for him?
'No way! That's too ridiculous!'
She took strides and left the room quickly before Zach could say anything.
Watching her leave, Zach couldn't help but giggle at the empty doorway. He thought, 'Brooklyn is so adorable; what am I supposed to do?'
Back in the office, Sienna and Felix were all staring at her with strange expressions. Brooklyn felt suspicious. "What's going on?"
Sienna pointed to her seat, prompting her to shift her gaze to another direction. There sat a tall, thin young man in casual attire with an unruly hairstyle, sitting restlessly with his legs swinging.
"Why are you here again?"
Quinn swiveled the chair to face Brooklyn, twirling a keychain around his finger, squinting with a roguish smile. "Dr. Mitchell, long time no see. I'm sick again."
The key in his hand was hers.
All her belongings were in his hands.
"Tell me, what's wrong this time?" Brooklyn pulled a pen from her pocket, ready to take notes. "Heart, liver, spleen, stomach, kidneys, or maybe brain and blood vessels? Do you need a full-body checkup?"
Quinn inquired, "Are you really going to do that?"
Brooklyn tossed aside the pen and paper, speaking seriously, "Give me my stuff, and you can leave."
Quinn poked his forehead, annoyed. "I stayed up late last night handling things for you and Sebastian, and I personally came to return your stuff. Shouldn't you show some appreciation?"
Brooklyn put her hands back in her pockets, raised an eyebrow, and smirked. "I feel very sorry for you."
"You're simply unreasonable."
"That's great. I didn't plan on dealing with you anyway. Give me my stuff, and if Sebastian finds out you keep coming to the hospital, what do you think will happen?"
Quinn's face showed anger. "You're ungrateful and utterly unlovable. No wonder Sebastian is so deeply attracted to Megan."
Everyone watched Quinn and Brooklyn's heated conversation with wide eyes. They thought this handsome guy's persistent pursuit was truly admirable.
Brooklyn snatched the key from his hand. "Where's my phone?"
Quinn glanced around the office at the doctors who were enjoying the show and chuckled, saying, "If I hand it over in front of them, it might cause misunderstandings. How about we step outside?"
"Put it on the table, Mr. Kingsley. I'll give you one minute. Don't test my limits."
Quinn suddenly clutched his stomach and groaned. "Dr. Mitchell, I think I've been poisoned. I ate a poisoned apple."
Brooklyn gritted her teeth. "Dr. Adams! Take him for gastric lavage and enema. The patient has food poisoning!"
After driving Quinn away, Brooklyn picked up her phone. Kelly had sent dozens of voice messages on NewsFeed, asking about last night's party in great detail.
Kelly messaged: [Was last night exciting? Fun?]
Brooklyn replied: [Exciting and fun! From looks and physique, he's A-grade.]
Kelly was amazed and messaged: [Next time, take me with you! So, how did you fare?]
Brooklyn rubbed her forehead and replied with one sentence: [Repeated failures.]
Kelly: [So, you failed again?]
Brooklyn: [My spirit remains strong, but Kelly, your necklace clashed with Megan's.]
Kelly: [That's terrible!]
Brooklyn put down her phone and found another person had entered the office. It was a tall, slender figure with a scent of Givenchy perfume that even the disinfectant couldn't mask. It was Piper.
Her arrival was never a good sign.
Sure enough, Piper was here for Brooklyn.
"Dr. Mitchell, you seem quite free."
"On the contrary, I'm very busy."
Piper sneered, saying, "I don't care what you're busy with. Put your work aside. There's a task you need to cooperate with immediately."
Brooklyn inquired, "What task?"
Piper replied, "The AIDS village medical aid team is short of a cardiologist. You're a top-notch expert, so you're the first choice!"
They couldn’t believe Piper was actually assigning Brooklyn to volunteer in an AIDS village. Although the medical aid there was for charity, it was known for its high risks. No one knew what could happen.
Sienna didn't dare protest. Felix tentatively said, "Dr. Adams, Dr. Mitchell is a pillar of the internal medicine department. Her leaving is not appropriate, is it?"
"What? Do you want to go?"
Brooklyn smiled, "Since Dr. Adams trusts me so much, I will, of course, go without hesitation. When do I leave?"
"If you're so willing, then get ready quickly. You need to leave at 3 PM!"
Sienna couldn't help but scream, "It's almost noon already!"
