Chapter 572 This Departure, Things May Change Upon Return

Brooklyn really hated having her picture taken; she could never relax in front of a camera.

So...

"Dr. Mitchell, could you give us a little smile? Just a tiny one? You look amazing, and a smile would make you look even better. Please don't frown." The staff showed her how to lift the corners of her mouth, but Brooklyn felt completely awkward.

Facing all these people and all this equipment, and still having to smile?

She wasn't a professional model; it was really hard for her to smile naturally.

Seeing this, Zach gently said, "Brooklyn, just smile like you normally do. No need to force it or pose. Your natural smile is already beautiful."

The photographer nodded, "Yes, exactly. Your unintentional smile just now was beautiful. Please smile again."

Brooklyn rubbed her forehead, "Sorry, everyone. I find it hard to smile when looking at the camera."

She found it strange herself. She could smile, and she wasn't some cold, emotionless woman. Did she have some kind of camera phobia?

No way. She didn't have such a pretentious condition.

Zach approached Brooklyn and comforted her, "It's okay. If you're not feeling it right now, we can wait. No rush. I know you don't like taking pictures normally. They don't know you yet, but you can do this."

Brooklyn felt even more speechless after his comforting words, "Do I have a problem? Maybe a psychologist should analyze me."

"Haha! Problem? Your problem is that you're too beautiful. Even without a smile, you're captivating. If you smile, you might dazzle everyone."

"Alright, stop joking. You go first. Maybe I'll find the feeling after you finish." Brooklyn really needed to figure out the reason. Was it the surgical lights that made her resistant? Did she instinctively want to keep a straight face when seeing the camera?

"Okay, I'll go first. You sit and rest for a bit."

Zach stepped in front of the camera, "I'll go first. Dr. Mitchell will take her turn later. Everyone wants to see a beauty's smile, but it might take a while."

"Haha, Dr. Carter, you really know how to talk. Let's start with you, then. Dr. Carter, please look at the camera."

Brooklyn watched Zach take his photos. His white uniform made him look even more handsome, and his tall figure was even more charming under the reflector.

It had to be said, Zach truly deserved the title of the most handsome doctor at Aucester Hospital.

After a while, George arrived. The TV station's promotion was a big deal, affecting the hospital's reputation, so George took it seriously.

"Dr. Clark, you're here." Brooklyn greeted.

George nodded and gestured for silence. Brooklyn understood, and they watched Zach pose.

"Yes, very good. I've always said Zach has potential. He might become a leader at Aucester Hospital someday." George joked.

Brooklyn grinned, "Dr. Clark, are you planning to step down and let him take over? I'll thank you on behalf of Dr. Carter."

"Haha, I wouldn't mind."

After watching for a while, George casually mentioned, "By the way, Dr. Mitchell, the new patient in the OB-GYN department today, what's her relationship with you? She's not an ordinary patient; Mr. Kingsley personally called about her."

Brooklyn thought for a moment, confirming she didn't know, "Maybe she's a friend of his. I'll check on her after we're done here."

"Dr. Mitchell, are you ready? Dr. Carter is finished."

What? So soon?

She hadn't prepared herself yet.

"Alright, I'm coming." Brooklyn had no way.

George looked at the hospital's two excellent doctors, feeling very pleased. With such outstanding young doctors, Aucester Hospital's reputation would surely soar, becoming the top hospital in the area.

The photographer joked, "Dr. Mitchell, you seem so tense in front of the camera. Were your wedding photos with Mr. Kingsley taken while sleepwalking?"

Brooklyn adjusted her hair. She couldn't say they hadn't taken wedding photos yet.

"It's been so long, I don't remember how it felt."

"Then let's try to find that feeling today. Imagine your husband standing next to you, and you'll surely smile sweetly."

Brooklyn nodded, doing her best.

She could easily pull off a serious, cool look, but the sweet smile the photographer wanted was still elusive. Was her face not done properly during plastic surgery?

That idea was too far-fetched.

Each theme required five photos, and Brooklyn barely managed to complete two. She was tired, and so was the photographer.

"How about just two photos? I think that's enough. We can add more if needed later." Brooklyn was practically begging for mercy. She never liked taking pictures; maybe that was a flaw.

As soon as she finished speaking, the photographer and the few nurses watching were stunned!

From the hospital garden, a tall figure in black walked over, exuding confidence.

He walked leisurely, looking very relaxed.

Brooklyn turned and saw Sebastian. The late afternoon sunlight cast a warm glow on him.

Brooklyn couldn't help but smile, a graceful and warm smile.

The photographer quickly pressed the shutter, capturing a few shots. After a whole afternoon, this was the most beautiful one!

Genuine emotion, no trace of posing. Her usual cool demeanor was completely gone, replaced by happiness and sweetness in front of her loved one.

Sebastian approached, and everyone greeted him. He responded with simple nods and naturally took Brooklyn's hand, "I went to your office. Dr. Warner said you were here taking photos. Are you done?"

Brooklyn raised an eyebrow, "Not yet, but we can finish later."

The photographer quickly interjected, "We're done. Those last few shots were perfect! Dr. Mitchell, you will definitely be satisfied when you see them."

"Since we're done, can we leave now?" Sebastian's smooth voice whispered in her ear.

"Yes, we can leave." Brooklyn nodded.

Zach, seeing the couple, teased, "Hey, Sebastian, Brooklyn, since the photographer and equipment are all set up, why don't you two take some photos together?"

Brooklyn looked up at Sebastian, "What do you think?"

Unexpectedly, Sebastian agreed right away. "Sure."

Sebastian realized they hadn't taken any photos together, except for the formal wedding registration photo.

The photos published by reporters weren't pure either. Today was a chance to make up for that small regret.

Sebastian wrapped his arm around Brooklyn's waist. One in a white uniform, the other in a black suit, standing in the lush garden, they looked like a perfect couple, naturally charming without any special poses.

"Dr. Mitchell couldn't smile earlier, but now she looks beautiful!" The relaxed atmosphere and the photographer's joke made the scene even more cheerful.

"How about Dr. Carter joining in? A photo of the three of you!"

Zach was pushed over by a few nurses. He stood next to Sebastian, their heights similar, their temperaments contrasting but harmonizing in the camera.

"This photo is the most attractive one at Aucester! Can we use it for TV promotion?" The photographer admired the photo, praising it.

Sebastian smiled elegantly, "Of course, but how much is your station willing to pay us for the promotion?"

The photographer laughed awkwardly, "Mr. Kingsley, don't joke."

After the photos, Sebastian accompanied Brooklyn to change clothes. They walked hand in hand under the admiring gazes of the hospital staff.

In the car, Brooklyn asked, "Why did you come to pick me up today?"

"I'm going to Aqua Vista City tomorrow morning. It might take about ten days."

"Tomorrow? So soon? Why didn't you tell me earlier? If it's ten days, you'll need a lot of things. Let's go home, and I'll help you pack."

Sebastian smiled at Brooklyn's concern, his deep eyes showing the softest expression of the day, "Are you in such a hurry to get rid of me?"

"Am I? Did you figure that out?" Brooklyn teased him, her smile radiating warmth.

"Are you tired of me?" Sebastian said unhappily.

"Honey, you're so smart. There are handsome men everywhere; I want to try more options."

Sebastian started the engine, the car speeding away with his good mood, "I really want to take you with me. Otherwise, you might make a mistake while I'm away."

Joking, the car arrived at the villa.

Before they entered, the housekeeper came out quickly, "Mr. Kingsley, Mrs. Kingsley is here."

Jennifer was here?

Brooklyn looked at Sebastian in surprise. "Did Mom tell you she was coming?"

Sebastian was also unaware, "No, let's go in and see."

They entered, and Jennifer turned from the living room sofa, smiling warmly to greet them, "You're back. Working late today?"

Brooklyn remembered that Jennifer had never visited in the months they lived here. What was happening today?

"Mom, you're here." Brooklyn let go of Sebastian's hand and gracefully walked over to talk to Jennifer. Sebastian remained indifferent.

"Yes, I came to see you two. You haven't been home lately, so I had to come myself. You should make it up to me."

Brooklyn felt Jennifer's unusual warmth, "You're right. It's our fault. You rest here, and I'll cook tonight."

Jennifer beamed, holding Brooklyn's hand and nodding, "Of course, I've been wanting to taste your cooking."

Brooklyn went to the kitchen, leaving mother and son in the living room.

Sebastian unbuttoned his jacket and loosened his tie. "Mom, why did you suddenly come? What's going on?"

Jennifer looked around and lowered her voice, "Sebastian, what's happening with you and your dad? Why are you suddenly being sent to Aqua Vista City? And I heard your dad wants someone else to work at the company. What's going on?"

Sebastian took off his jacket, standing tall and calm, "What's happening, Mom, don't you know?"

Jennifer was stunned, her expression momentarily confused, "Sebastian, what do you mean?"

"Nothing."

"Sebastian, remember, you're the eldest son of the Kingsley family. MBK should belong to you. You've done so much for the company. How can you... Sebastian, you can't go to Aqua Vista City. If you go, everything here might change. Do you understand?"

Sebastian rolled up his sleeves. "Mom, how can you be so sure? As the eldest son, no matter where I go, I'm still the heir. What are you worried about?"

"I..." Jennifer took a deep breath, "Alright, I'm not worried. It's late, I won't stay for dinner. I'll head back."

Sebastian's tone softened, not wanting Jennifer to feel hurt, "Since you're here, stay for dinner. Brooklyn is cooking. You should try it."

Jennifer was surprised by Sebastian's gentleness. He had always been cold, never this considerate. She agreed, "Alright, alright..."
