Chapter 191 Not Even Willing to Take a Glance
Bayside Villas was all lit up, neon lights flickering along the fence. Brooklyn noticed they weren't there before. Megan must've put them up; she loved those colorful lights.
Megan really saw herself as the queen of Bayside Villas.
"Sebastian, aren't you worried I'll confront your Ms. Turner now that you brought me here?" Brooklyn asked as she stepped out of the car. Her slender figure stood in front of the villa, taking in the lively scene.
Since Megan moved in, everything had changed. Quite the achievement!
Sebastian shut the car door, standing a few feet away, his tall frame and cold eyes dripping with disdain. "I'm more worried you'll lose your nerve before even making a move."
His words were dripping with irony and mockery. He basically told Brooklyn, "Stand your ground and don't do anything stupid."
Brooklyn crossed her arms, her eyes losing their sparkle like fading stars, trying to hold onto her dignity. "Sebastian, don't bother me."
"Sebastian, you're back!" Megan rushed out to greet him as his car pulled in, completely ignoring Brooklyn.
She linked her arm with Sebastian's, smiling charmingly. "Why didn't you tell me you were coming? You probably haven't eaten. I made your favorite dishes. I always have them prepared just in case."
Brooklyn watched their affectionate display like an outsider, her brows furrowing in discomfort.
Brooklyn had to admit Megan was a good lover. She was beautiful, like a fluttering butterfly, and gentle, always showing her tender side to him. She was obedient and accommodating, everything men liked.
So, when they were together, Sebastian was very happy.
Sebastian didn't say much; he just glanced at Brooklyn from the corner of his eye. For a moment, her eyes showed indifferent disregard.
"Okay, let's go inside. Don't rush next time; you're pregnant." Sebastian said to Megan. His words lacked warmth but were considerate enough.
They really were a perfect match.
As they walked ahead, Brooklyn followed behind, slowing her pace.
"Sebastian, try this. It's been stewing for a long time." Megan served him the bone broth like no one else was there. The rich aroma filled the air. The handsome man enjoyed her service, subtly lifting his brows.
It was such a blissful scene; Brooklyn couldn't help but envy it.
"I'm done. You two carry on." Brooklyn set down her utensils and got up from the table.
"Sit down." Sebastian didn't even look up, his cold words cutting through her pride like a knife, a slap to her dignity right in front of Megan.
Recalling Jennifer's harsh commands over the phone, Sebastian's endless torment, and Megan's intimate moments with him—all while flaunting her pregnancy, Brooklyn was jealous, but she wouldn't lose control again.
Standing there, Brooklyn forced a casual smile at Megan's smug face. "Enjoy your meal. I won't disturb you. Have a pleasant dinner."
Even if she felt cold inside, Brooklyn pushed her hopes down. Feelings of liking and disliking couldn't be hidden; Sebastian didn't like her, so why stick around and endure more embarrassment?
Sebastian's cutlery clattered onto the bone plate. "What are you doing? Come back."
Megan smiled softly, masking her satisfaction by linking her arm with Sebastian's. "Sebastian, why should we hold her back? Aren't you afraid of indigestion from looking at a resentful face? Come on, try this. I watched it being made. Should I cook for you in the future?"
Megan's soft, intimate voice and affectionate service contrasted sharply with Brooklyn's cold indifference.
Any man would know how to choose, especially when there's no love involved.
As Brooklyn walked away, Megan's smile widened.
The door at the end of the corridor closed heavily.
Megan held the food to Sebastian's lips. "Sebastian, have a bite."
Sebastian glanced at her impatiently. "Put it down."
Megan was taken aback. They were just fine a moment ago; why did his attitude change when Brooklyn left?
Sebastian forcefully pushed the chair aside, causing it to crash to the floor, startling Megan into silence.
Exasperated, Sebastian walked away, heading to the study on the second floor.
Megan helplessly put down the spoon, her eyes stinging with tears.
Everything that had just happened between Sebastian and Brooklyn wasn't about their own grievances; it was Sebastian and Brooklyn both metaphorically slapping Megan in the face.
Biting her lip, Megan stepped upstairs.
"Sebastian." She stood at the study door, closing it with her hand. "I have a question."
Sebastian remained expressionless, his eyes revealing a sinister glint that no one could decipher. "What is it?"
Megan held her breath, her alluring figure flawless from every angle.
She asked, "If I didn't have this child, would you even spare me a glance?"
