Chapter 608 Mr. Kingsley, I'm Outside, Come Pick Me Up

Sebastian's lips curled into a subtle, almost ethereal smile, a stark contrast to the plump, middle-aged man sitting across from him. His refined demeanor made his innocent and sincere retort even more striking.

Susie's harsh words, tossed out without much thought, were effortlessly deflected by Sebastian. The guests couldn't help but shift their attention to her.

Sure, Susie was the Jordan family's daughter-in-law, but with Marc in prison and no release date in sight, she was just clinging to the title while staying with the Jordans to care for her child.

Miguel gripped his cane tightly, his fingers rubbing the embedded ruby as he tried to smooth things over. "Mr. Kingsley, you're a well-traveled man. Surely, you wouldn't take offense at the words of someone who hasn't seen much of the world?"

Sebastian kept his calm smile, listening without interruption.

Seeing that Sebastian wasn't letting it go, Miguel continued, "Marc's been stuck in Aucester, separated from his wife for a long time. Mr. Kingsley, please don't hold it against her. Women need support, and it's just unfortunate that Marc was careless."

Miguel's words were pointed. Everyone knew Marc's arrest was Sebastian's doing. Essentially, Sebastian had sent Marc to prison.

Miguel's insinuations were far from polite.

Sebastian suddenly laughed. "Mr. Jordan, speaking of Marc, I remember offering him a business deal in Aucester. Unfortunately, the project fell through. But it's no big deal, just some money lost. Marc is my family, I wouldn't hold it against him."

The guests were stunned. Miguel had accused Sebastian of sending Marc to prison, yet here Sebastian was, lamenting the money lost on Marc's behalf and calling him family. Miguel's expression shifted dramatically.

Susie gritted her teeth. "Sebastian, stop calling us family! You were the one who got Marc imprisoned, and you have the nerve to call us family here! Sebastian, you damned bastard!"

Susie was furious, disregarding the guests as she cursed at Sebastian. Her anger and resentment were so intense that she wished she could turn them into a knife and kill him.

"Susie!" Catherine stood up abruptly, her glamorous and sexy dress accentuating her allure. As she rose, her hidden charm was fully displayed to everyone.

"We're here to celebrate a birthday, not to argue. Do we really need to dig up old grudges today? Is that something to be proud of?"

Catherine knew that if Susie kept causing a scene, the night would be ruined.

Susie snorted, pulling her chair back and sitting down. "If he doesn't want people to know, he doesn't do it! He may look glamorous on the outside, but he knows best what shady dealings he has done behind the scenes!"

"Susie, enough already!"

"No! Sebastian doesn't deserve to be at my son's birthday party. He's the one who got Marc imprisoned! Dad, get him out of here!"

Sebastian adjusted his suit, frowning slightly. "It seems I'm not welcome here tonight. I won't disturb you any further. I'll take my leave."

His deep voice fell, and everyone widened their eyes in shock!

Sebastian was actually leaving. In the business world, who would dare to offend the Kingsley family? If he left in anger, the consequences would be dire.

"Wait!"

"Mr. Kingsley!" Catherine and Miguel spoke in unison. Catherine glanced at Miguel, her face falling. "Mr. Jordan, I invited Sebastian. If you disrespect me like this, I can't stay either. Since someone doesn't welcome me, I'll leave as well."

Susie bit her teeth hard. "I didn't say that."

"Shut up! Men are talking, women shouldn't interrupt!" Miguel, fearing the situation would get out of hand, angrily rebuked Susie and then tried to appease Sebastian. "Mr. Kingsley, you're a valued guest of the Jordan family. How could you leave? Please, sit down. Dione, pour Mr. Kingsley some wine! Susie, apologize to Mr. Kingsley immediately!"

Dione, more composed than Susie, hadn't said a word until now. She obediently left her seat, smiling softly as she picked up the wine bottle. Her slender fingers held Sebastian's glass. "Mr. Kingsley, Susie was out of line. Please don't take it to heart. Let me pour you some wine."

Sebastian lazily adjusted his suit sleeve, not touching the glass. "No need for an apology, but if I hear similar remarks again, don't blame me for being meticulous."

"Of course, Mr. Kingsley, you are known for your perfectionism. It's only right to be serious. Let's drink, let's drink." Miguel suppressed his anger. The hatred for Marc's imprisonment and the recent frustrations made his anger towards Sebastian almost uncontrollable.

But publicly, the Jordan family couldn't afford to oppose Sebastian.

He raised his glass, forcing a smile. "Mr. Kingsley, I personally toast to you. Let's bury the hatchet, shall we?"

"Mr. Jordan, you're exaggerating. We're family, where's the enmity?"

"Ha ha, well said! Mr. Kingsley, you and the Jordan family are relatives. We'll rely on you in Aucester!"

"Indeed, Mr. Kingsley is now in Aqua Vista City, and with Ms. Cooper... Ha ha, should we toast to them too?"

Catherine shyly lowered her eyes. "We haven't... Please don't spread rumors."

The more she tried to deny it, the more it seemed true.

Sebastian suddenly clarified coldly. "You're all prominent figures in Aqua Vista City. Are you trying to take over the journalists' job now?"

"Of course not! It seems we misunderstood."

Meanwhile, Brooklyn's car finally found Marc's mansion, a massive and intimidating structure resembling a forest castle, located in a remote and somewhat eerie area.

She got out of the car, adjusted her coat, and walked towards the mansion's entrance, only to be stopped by two security guards. "Miss, please show your invitation."

Brooklyn shrugged. "I don't have an invitation. I'm here to see someone."

The guards exchanged glances. "See someone? Who are you looking for? Mr. Jordan is dining with guests and can't see you."

Brooklyn crossed her arms, her tall figure standing on the first step, the night wind blowing through her long, seaweed-like hair, emitting a faint fragrance.

"I'm not looking for Mr. Jordan. I'm looking for Mr. Kingsley."

Hearing the commotion, two maids quickly ran over, seeing Brooklyn as unfamiliar, not recognizing her as any wealthy lady from Aqua Vista City.

"Which Mr. Kingsley are you looking for?"

Brooklyn sized up the maids. "Sebastian."

"Sebastian? You must be mistaken. Mr. Kingsley isn't someone you can just meet. Are you crazy?"

"What? Not allowed to see him?"

"Lyle, get her out of here."

Brooklyn took out her phone from her bag. "Since you won't notify him, I'll contact him myself. But if anything happens, I'm not responsible."

The maids exchanged looks, then laughed coldly. "Stop pretending. We've seen this trick many times. Everyone has a few poor relatives."

The call quickly connected, and Brooklyn exhaled a breath of cold air. "Mr. Kingsley, I'm outside the Jordan Villa, but they think I'm not important enough to let me in."

The maids laughed even more mockingly. "Who are you fooling? Mr. Kingsley came with Ms. Cooper today."

Brooklyn hung up, smiling as she put it back in her bag. "Miss, who do you serve in the Jordan family?"

The girl snorted. "I'll scare you. I'm Mrs. Susie Jordan's maid!"

"Susie?" Brooklyn raised an eyebrow. Of course, only Susie could train such maids.

"How dare you call Mrs. Jordan by her name!"

Brooklyn looked at the other maid. "And you?"

"We serve Mrs. Dione Jordan. Not just anyone can call her name!" Even the maids had such arrogance. The Jordan family was indeed bold.

"Dione's maids, very good!"

Sure enough, the master reflected the servants.

"Brooklyn."

The questioning outside had just ended when Sebastian, holding his phone, ran out from the main hall. The distance from the hall to the mansion's entrance included a flower bed and a lawn, yet Sebastian took less than two minutes from hanging up to reaching Brooklyn.

In his haste, the hem of his suit was caught in his belt, but despite this, he still looked dashing and elegant.

Brooklyn smiled. "Why the rush?"

Everyone around was stunned.

Sebastian affectionately touched her head, his hand running through her hair, his eyes full of love.

"My dear came to see me, of course, I had to hurry. Were you waiting long?"

Brooklyn gently pulled his suit hem out, smoothing it. "Not long. You looked handsome running over."

Sebastian smiled. "Let's go inside. It's lively in there."

"Alright!" She smiled brightly.

Brooklyn turned to the stunned maids. "I'll personally greet your masters later. With such dedicated helpers, I'll be sure to speak highly of you."

Inside the banquet hall, Sebastian's sudden departure had caused quite a stir. "Mr. Kingsley left in such a hurry. Could something have happened?"

"It must be urgent. Otherwise, Mr. Kingsley, who is usually unflappable, wouldn't have rushed like that."

As they spoke, two figures entered the hall. The tall man held the beautiful woman close; their intimate gestures and tightly clasped hands under the dazzling crystal lights made them look like a perfect couple.

Catherine's hand slipped, her wine glass tilting and spilling red liquid onto the table and her dress.

Sebastian held Brooklyn's waist, and they walked slowly through the crowd, smiling with each step, captivating everyone.

So this was Brooklyn, her faint smile exuding unparalleled charm.

Miguel's eyes were instantly drawn to the woman, his old face smoothing out several wrinkles. "This..."

"Let me introduce you all. This is my wife. She heard it was Mr. Miguel Jordan's grandson's birthday and came from Aucester to personally congratulate him."

Brooklyn extended her hand, gracefully bowing slightly. "I'm sorry I'm late. Congratulations, Mr. Jordan. Congratulations, Mrs. Jordan."
