Chapter 125   Quinn's Matter

Brian called her, and it turned out he wanted to ask about Quinn. Brooklyn was conflicted.

Should she reveal the truth?

She thought about it and decided she couldn't say anything. If Brian found out what Quinn had done, no matter how much he favored him, he would probably whip him.

Brooklyn smiled gently. "Dad, Quinn just returned to the country. We've only met a few times, so I'm not clear about his life."

Standing beside her, Quinn silently clasped his hands together in his heart, thinking Brooklyn was simply an angel!

Quinn took a deep breath, feeling like he had narrowly escaped death.

But if Brian were that easy to deal with, he wouldn't be Brian.

Brian continued, "You are the eldest daughter-in-law of the Kingsley family. In the future, you will manage the entire Kingsley family. Your current concealment and indulgence are of no benefit to you or anyone in the Kingsley family."

Oh no, Brian was going to reprimand Brooklyn. He intended to get information out of her. Brooklyn felt immense pressure and was very nervous. Her hands clenched even tighter.

"Dad, I understand what you mean, but I really don't know much. Why don't you ask Quinn?" Brooklyn suggested.

She had to remember to breathe and not suffocate from the tension.

Brian looked at Quinn, his gaze sharp as a knife. After glaring at Quinn, he continued to press. "Tell the truth. Don't make me repeat myself."

Brooklyn gritted her teeth, and so did Quinn.

Their standoff reached an impasse.

Brooklyn's brow almost arched up. If she spoke, would Quinn be beaten to death?

Quinn's actions, when taken together, could be misconduct towards her.

This sounded like terrible news.

Quinn said, "Dad, what happened at the party was my impulsiveness. It had nothing to do with Brooklyn."

Brian retorted, "Who allowed you to speak?"

Brooklyn was stunned. Were they confronting each other and putting her in the spot to verify? Such a clever strategy truly matched the Kingsley family's style.

So it was about the party.

It seemed Brian had found out. But with so many people present that day, word had spread, and everyone tacitly understood.

Brooklyn said, "Dad, I accidentally fell into the swimming pool that day. Quinn was trying to save me. Please don't be angry or blame him."

Brian replied, "I'll discipline my son however I see fit. It's not your place to offer opinions."

Brooklyn felt a bit awkward after hearing that. Indeed, she had no right to make suggestions.

Brooklyn said helplessly, "It seems Quinn did make a mistake. I understand."

As the last word fell, the moment Brian hung up, she heard his words to Quinn through the receiver, harsh and relentless, not like a father, but like an enemy.

"Kneel!"

At that moment, Brooklyn's phone slipped from her hand and fell to the floor.

What would Brian do to Quinn? Would he kill him? Would he punish or execute him physically?

Brooklyn was imagining the typical things a mob boss would do to a betraying underling when a tall figure silently stood by her hospital bed.

Her eyes were fixed on the phone, and a pair of shiny black leather shoes stopped right next to it. Following the line of his pants upward, she saw Sebastian's cold, handsome face.

"Are you a ghost? Walking without making a sound, you scared me to death!" Brooklyn gasped.

"That's because you have a guilty conscience," Sebastian said.

Brooklyn felt speechless and didn't want to say more to him. She lifted the blanket, intending to pick up her phone, but to her surprise, Sebastian lightly kicked it, sending her phone 6 feet away.

Brooklyn was extremely annoyed!

"Sebastian, what's gotten into you? Why are you picking a fight with a phone? Pick it up for me!" Brooklyn reprimanded.

For some reason, she became so bold that she actually asked Sebastian to pick up the phone for her. As soon as she finished speaking, Brooklyn bit her lip and thought, 'Oh no, I had spoken without thinking.'

Sebastian sat on the sofa, not offering any explanation for his sudden departure earlier. He glanced at his Patek Philippe watch. "We leave in an hour. We're heading back to Aucester tonight."

Brooklyn felt very helpless.

His plans changed at the drop of a hat, and he always did things according to his schedule and mood.

"Whatever you please!" Brooklyn said and lay down angrily. Today, she was injured, her spirit was hurt, and she was frightened. Right now, she just wanted to hit someone and curse.

Sebastian repeated, "Didn't you hear me? We leave in an hour."

Brooklyn responded, "I'm not deaf. I heard you."

Sebastian added, "Then get up."

Brooklyn was puzzled. Didn't he say an hour later?

She was yanked up by him, and of course, she was carried away directly.

After he carried her away, her phone was brought over by a nurse.

Brooklyn didn't expect there would be a dinner before they left.

They sat face to face at the dining table. Brooklyn ate slowly while sneaking glances at Sebastian.

Sebastian ate elegantly, sipping his soup, his pace unhurried, showing no signs of being in a rush.

"Mr. Kingsley, why are we suddenly going back? Did something happen?" Brooklyn asked.

Brooklyn was uneasy. His phone call had mentioned the Mitchell Group, and Brian had been pressing Quinn about what he had done. Putting it all together, she felt something bad was about to happen.

Unexpectedly, Sebastian coolly replied, "Don't talk while eating."

His words made Brooklyn not want to say anything more.

She felt extremely speechless. He used to love interrogating her and lecturing her at the dining table, leaving her speechless. Now he was reminding her not to talk while eating!

Why did she always think of these things?

After dinner, Sebastian carried her onto the helicopter, which took off for Aucester, carrying her heavy doubts and worries.

They arrived in Aucester after 8 PM. Brooklyn thought Sebastian would take her to the hospital, but the black Rolls-Royce went straight to Bayside Villas.

Brooklyn sighed softly in her heart. She was back again!

Sebastian was a man of action. He said nothing the entire way and directly carried her to the main bedroom on the second floor, ordering her to lie down obediently.

"Do you think I have a better option than lying down?" Brooklyn said sarcastically.

Sebastian ignored her. After a while, the Kingsley family's private doctor, Dr. Adams, arrived. She carefully examined Brooklyn. Dr. Adams was a renowned general practitioner from a well-known hospital in the United States, with excellent medical skills.

Sebastian inquired, "How is she?"

Dr. Adams nodded. "Mrs. Kingsley's arm injury needs proper rest, but there are some things I'm not sure if I should say."

Both Brooklyn and Sebastian frowned. Sebastian glanced at Brooklyn. "Please, go ahead."

Brooklyn interrupted, "No need! Dr. Adams, I'm also a doctor. Everyone has some minor issues now and then. I'll be more careful in the future! Dr. Adams, thank you for your hard work. It's late. Let the driver take you back."

Sebastian gave Brooklyn a cold look and continued to press, "Speak, tell the truth."

What was Brooklyn trying to hide? Sebastian had to know!
