Chapter 459 The Poor Performance of the Ruse of Self-Injury

"Not for now. I'll let you know when I need your help." Hearing his offer to help, Brooklyn's first reaction was to refuse.

She really didn't want to rely too much on Sebastian. Not only did she not want to depend on him, but she also wanted to help him.

Sebastian didn't expect Brooklyn to refuse so directly. "By the time you ask for my help, it might be too late. With your personality, you won't ask for help until you can't hold on anymore. I don't want to see that happen."

He didn't want her to be too strong. If his wife was too strong, what would be the point of him being her husband?

He still hoped that she could hide behind him at the right time.

Brooklyn shrugged. "What do you want to do?"

But Sebastian threw the question back at her. "Tell me your thoughts. Since you want to avenge Bianca, you must have a plan. Go ahead."

Brooklyn chewed her food slowly, her expression a mix of mischief and pride. "I don't like to talk about it. I'll show you."

Sebastian let out a snort of laughter. "Alright!"

"Who booked the place? Let him come out!"

As the two were enjoying their meal, a discordant argument suddenly broke the peaceful atmosphere of the restaurant.

A woman's sharp, arrogant voice rang out, as if she owned the place, scolding the waiter harshly.

Brooklyn twirled her glass, raising an eyebrow at Sebastian with a smile. "Someone's here to provoke you, Mr. Kingsley. What do you think about this?"

However, Sebastian didn't even glance to the side, maintaining his noble demeanor. "The side dish is a bit late."

To Sebastian, the troublemaker was just a side dish?

If the troublemaker heard this, they would be furious.

Brooklyn leisurely watched the commotion. At the service counter, a woman in a dress was arguing with the waiter, looking like she was about to force her way in.

"Miss, you can't go in. Mr. Kingsley has booked the place for tonight. Please leave." the waiter persuaded.

"Mr. Kingsley? Who? I don't care who it is. I want to dine here tonight. Let me in, or my boyfriend will come in and you'll see what happens!"

Boyfriend?

Brooklyn couldn't help but smile. So she had someone backing her up!

"Miss, you can't go in!" The waiter tried to stop her, but the woman still managed to force her way in.

The woman stepped into the restaurant, wearing a couture gown from the season's latest collection and carrying the newest Hermès bag. She paused under the crystal chandelier, arms folded, and looked at the sole couple in the room with a chilling smirk. "So it's this Mr. Kingsley."

Brooklyn's eyes flickered between the two. The woman's heavily made-up face was young and beautiful, with the air of a second-rate celebrity.

Sebastian didn't bother to speak to such a woman. He continued to sip his wine and cut a small piece of steak, saying to Brooklyn, "What do you want to do after dinner?"

"You decide. I'll follow your lead."

"Alright, let's take a walk in the square. The scenery is nice at night."

"Sure, we haven't taken a walk together in a while."

Seeing herself completely ignored, the woman stomped over to their table in her high heels. "Mr. Kingsley, my boyfriend and I want to dine here tonight."

Sebastian glanced at her coldly. "Oh? And what does that have to do with me?"

"You booked the place for tonight. I want to dine here. Don't you understand?" the woman snorted.

Brooklyn silently sympathized with her, eating her salad. "Miss, find another place. Tonight, this place belongs to my husband and me."

This woman must have a death wish to challenge Sebastian.

"Don't think that just because you have money, you can do whatever you want. You can't take away other people's rights. I want this table!" She pointed her chin at the waiter. "Come here, I want to order!"

Brooklyn shook her head, giving the woman a sympathetic look. "I advise you to leave now."

As the argument continued, a silver figure suddenly rushed in from outside, moving so fast that it was impossible to see who it was.

Suddenly, a loud, crisp slap echoed through the room, the force evident.

"Do you want to die?"

The voice sounded familiar.

Brooklyn and Sebastian simultaneously looked at the man who had slapped the woman. It was James.

"You... you hit me? How could you hit me, darling?" The woman, with half her face red from the slap, looked pitifully at James's cold expression, her heart sinking.

"Slapping you is the lightest punishment! Apologize to Mr. Kingsley and Mrs. Kingsley now!"

James grabbed the woman's slender arm and pulled her towards Brooklyn. "I'm sorry for disturbing your meal. I'll make her apologize right away."

The woman was completely stunned, staring at James with wide eyes. "You... how could you do this? I..."

Feriously, James slapped her again. "Apologize!"

This time, the other half of the woman's face turned red and bruised, tears streaming down her face. "I... I just wanted to dine here with you. What's wrong with that? How was I supposed to know he booked the place? Why can't we eat here just because he booked it?"

Brooklyn coldly watched the scene unfold. "Mr. Rivera, hitting a woman is not something a man should do."

James stood tall by the table. "She is out of line. She deserves it."

The woman, crying, said, "James..."

"Apologize! I told you to apologize to them! Now!" James shouted.

His angry shout made the woman shiver, and she squeezed out a low, "I'm sorry."

Sebastian, sitting straight, finally spoke lazily, "Alright, take your woman and leave. Don't ruin my wife's mood."

James smiled slightly. "Mr. Kingsley, I'm sorry for disturbing your meal. I'll host a dinner to make it up to you both. Please honor me with your presence."

He then glanced at Brooklyn. "I must have terrible taste in women. If I'd picked someone with even a fraction of Ms. Mitchell's poise, this wouldn't have happened today."

Sebastian sneered. "Mr. Rivera, don't compare any random woman to my wife. Just because my wife isn't angry doesn't mean I, as her husband, don't mind."

James laughed to ease the tension. "Mr. Kingsley, you're right! Enjoy your meal. We'll take our leave."

Sebastian ignored him, while Brooklyn nodded.

James dragged the woman, her face red, out of the restaurant.

The restaurant returned to its quiet atmosphere. Brooklyn's smile was as cold as ice. "What is James trying to do with this act?"

Anyone could see that the slapping and the scene were a poorly executed act.

Sebastian seemed to have finished eating. He put down his knife and fork, making a slight clinking sound. "James wants to show me his sincerity, but he chose the wrong method and the wrong place."

Brooklyn was puzzled. "Oh? Why is James trying to please you? As far as I know, the Rivera family has a significant influence in Aucester, and he's currently the chairman of Infinite International Group. He doesn't need to lower himself to please you, does he?"

Sebastian wiped his mouth with a napkin. "Infinite International Group has a project that needs my help, and it's urgent. He's desperate and can only use this tactic in front of me."

Brooklyn smiled slyly. "So, did his tactic work today?"

Sebastian put down the napkin, looking at Brooklyn with a half-smile. "Honey, do you know the best way to keep a donkey excited? Hang food in front of it, always give it hope, but never let it get it. Give it a little reward at the right time."

Brooklyn also put down her knife and fork, her eyes sparkling. "Husband, you're really bad."

"I'll take that as a compliment." Sebastian accepted it as a matter of course, even enjoying it, shamelessly.

"I'm truly impressed, Mr. Kingsley." Brooklyn smiled.

"Thank you, Mrs. Kingsley."

"Wait, I want to ask, why are you targeting James? It seems like you don't have any direct conflict with him, right?" she asked.

Recently, James had been behaving, but Simon gave Brooklyn a bad feeling.

Sebastian's smile disappeared, and he said seriously, "He once openly coveted my wife. Isn't that conflict direct enough?"

"Your jealousy has a long delay." she pretended to be speechless, but she was very happy.

Sebastian's smile faded, and he said seriously, "It's not just that. James has been secretly causing trouble, teaming up with Kevin to attack MBK's stock market. Although he has now corrected his actions and severed ties with Kevin, a small punishment is still necessary."

"Oh? I see."

"Also, Piper's definitely tied to the cliff incident, and since we can't take down the Rivera family directly right now, let's at least make life a little harder for him." Sebastian added.

Her husband really understood her!

Oh the other hand, James's assistant was worried, "Mr. Rivera, what did Sebastian say? Can we start the project on time? If we delay any longer, it will cause significant losses. The major shareholders are already getting restless."

James held a cigarette, the smoke swirling around him, reflecting his frustration. "Sebastian wants to teach me a lesson. I don't have a solution."

His sigh was filled with regret, remorse, and more self-blame.

He shouldn't have listened to Kevin's words, making it impossible to retreat now.

Sebastian was a taboo not to be touched lightly. How could James have forgotten that?

"So what do we do now? Is there any other way with Sebastian?"

James took a drag on his cigarette, slowly exhaling the smoke. "No, we can only wait for his response."

He had already shown goodwill, and he believed Sebastian understood, but he didn't know how Sebastian would respond.

"Lawrence, being suppressed feels terrible!" James pressed the cigarette into the ashtray, crushing it. The half-smoked cigarette crumbled into powder.

"Mr. Rivera, Sebastian is now dominant. We and several companies in Aucester all rely on him. Everyone is angry but doesn't dare to speak out. It's really frustrating." Lawrence, his assistant, sighed.

James snorted. "A moment's impatience spoils a great strategy. Notify the finance department to donate one million dollars, no, ten million dollars, to Aucester Hospital in my name. Do it now."
