Chapter 79 Are You a Masochist?

She looked up in astonishment, Zach's gentle smile above her head, warm like a large piece of early spring sunlight.

Brooklyn reacted quickly, breaking free from his embrace and keeping a maximum distance from him. She lowered her face, with no emotional color on her face, frost forming.

Zach smiled gently, "I'm sorry, I offended you in haste to avoid more misunderstandings."

His clean temperament made her feel even more petty when she was angry.

"You came to find me, right? Well, I'm also looking for you." She got straight to the point.

"I didn't know you were at the hospital. You had the night shift last night. You should be resting at home today." Zach replied.

She forgot about the night shift matter.

"You know..." She hesitated, after all, it was a scandal, how could she speak confidently?

"I saw the news on the forum. I was about to go to the monitoring room on the first floor to check the surveillance footage." Zach explained.

Brooklyn thought, 'Did he actually thought of this too?'

Brooklyn nodded gratefully, still maintaining her composure on the surface, "I want to go, too. I must find the culprit. I won't let this matter go easily."

Zach looked at Brooklyn, who was bristling like a little leopard, and for some reason, he found angry Brooklyn more adorable than usual. When she was angry, her two eyebrows furrowed together, her already rosy and delicate lips pursed inward, her little face was indescribably charming.

"I will help you," he said firmly.

Brooklyn looked at him, "Of course, you should help me. This matter involves both of us, but now only I am being pointed at by everyone."

He smiled elegantly, "Don't worry, I won't run away. I will bear it with you. When necessary, I can pretend to be your boyfriend."

"No need. I appreciate your kindness."

"Dr. Mitchell, what are you rejecting?"

"I'm not!"

The elevator door opened, and the two hurried to the monitoring room.

But the surveillance footage had been cut off in advance, leaving no trace!

Damn it!

What to do now? If she can't find the culprit, how can she clear up the misunderstanding? Rumors are like bottomless pits. The more you struggle, the deeper you sink. In the end, she might become the target of public criticism!

Zach suddenly grabbed Brooklyn's wrist, "Come with me."

"What are you doing?"

Hurriedly leaving the monitoring room on the first floor, Zach took Brooklyn outside. As the revolving glass door opened and closed, a figure came in from outside, a man holding a woman in his arms. Brooklyn's forehead twitched. Why did that figure look so familiar?

Passing by them, Sebastian turned around and happened to see Brooklyn being pulled by a man in a white coat.

"What are you doing?"
Once outside, Brooklyn shook him off and gasped for breath, questioning him.

Zach looked around the hospital's large garden, filled with hibiscus and roses blooming in the flower beds, the flowers intricate and fragrant.

"I was afraid you wouldn't come out for some fresh air. You might get sick staying inside. Your current state is not suitable for going back. Take a walk here, or go out for a good meal, or maybe go back and rest." Zach explained.

Brooklyn chuckled at Zach's words, "Your face isn't in the photos, and you're not in a hurry at all."

"So, Dr. Mitchell, are you in a hurry to achieve something?"

"I have to do something." She raised her head stubbornly, looking at him. The stubbornness of a young woman and the refusal to yield of a strong woman showing on her face, making her image in Zach's mind more vivid.

A gust of wind blew, and the vibration of the phone in her coat pocket interrupted her gaze and her thoughts.

"Come to the obstetrics and gynecology department immediately."

The cold tone, and the commanding tone, belonged only to Sebastian.

She put away her phone, "I'll go back first."

"Dr. Mitchell, are you a masochist?"

She smiled, "Sort of."

She walked ahead, and he followed behind. Their steps were not slow, but he still fell behind a step when passing through the revolving door, so he missed the elevator.

Her figure disappeared.

Outside the obstetrics and gynecology department, at the attending doctor's office, a tall man stood with one hand in his pocket.

Brooklyn took a deep breath and walked up, "How is she?"

Sebastian didn't turn around. In the short few minutes he had been waiting here, he had already heard various versions of stories about Brooklyn, different words with different sarcasm, fresh vocabulary emerging endlessly.

Is Brooklyn really being slandered at the hospital, or is she being resented, causing public anger?

Suppressing his anger, Sebastian said, "The doctor is examining her. If she has any issues..."

"You've already said that if she has any problems, you won't let me go. It's only been a few hours, I haven't forgotten." Brooklyn replied coldly.
Dear CEO, Please Be Gentle!
