Chapter 381 The Ninety-Nine Roses I Gave You
'Sebastian's feelings for Brooklyn run deeper than any of us could have imagined.' Thinking of this, Kelly felt a pang of guilt. She had once tried to set up Brooklyn and Zach... Well, she too had been fooled by Sebastian's cold exterior. "I think, after experiencing Brooklyn's death, Sebastian probably won't ever love another woman again. I later heard that Sebastian almost died."
Scarlett's mind was a whirlwind of emotions. She hadn't expected the cold Sebastian to be carrying such a story.
"I heard you're his personal doctor now, so please take care of him. He may seem cold, but he's not a bad person." Kelly said.
"I don't know how to take care of him," Scarlett said.
"If you can, just smile at him. His life is so bleak," Kelly said.
Scarlett would try her best.
Halfway through the concert, Kelly fell asleep, leaning on Scarlett's shoulder for the rest of the performance. When she woke up, everyone else had already left. "Oh my God, I actually fell asleep. I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to. Did I make your arm sore?"
Scarlett smiled and shook her head, "No, you slept soundly, so I didn't wake you. Did you sleep well?"
Kelly scratched her head, "Well, actually, I'm not a big fan of classical music. I thought you might like it, so..."
Scarlett picked up her bag and ruffled Kelly's hair, "I prefer watching surgeries."
Kelly's eyes widened as she looked at Scarlett. Did Scarlett just ruffle her hair? Such an intimate gesture!
Kelly was very happy.
Scarlett, seeing her own hand, quickly pulled it back as if shocked, "Shall I take you home?"
"Sure." Kelly nodded happily.
After seeing Kelly off, Scarlett returned to Sebastian's villa.
"Ms. Taylor, you're finally back. I've been waiting for you for over an hour." As soon as Scarlett walked in, Quinn's voice floated out from the hall, playful and inherently roguish.
"What are you doing here?" Changing into slippers, Scarlett stood at the entrance, keeping a sixty-foot distance from Quinn, her chin slightly raised as she looked at him.
Quinn shrugged, "I came to see you. Ever since the party, Ms. Taylor has been flying around in my mind every day. I was worried you'd get too tired, so I came to check on you."
Scarlett frowned, "Where's my ring?"
Quinn turned and picked up the roses from the glass table, striding over to Scarlett, "These are for you. Take the flowers first, then we'll talk."
The ninety-nine fresh red roses, just about to bloom, vibrant and dewy.
"What do you mean?" Scarlett didn't rush to take them, her eyes lightly scanning the flowers before fixing on Quinn's face.
Quinn raised an eyebrow, his thin lips curling into a suggestive smile, "It's obvious. I'm giving you roses to please you and pursue you. And Ms. Taylor, don't use your fiancé as an excuse. Nowadays, even married people can be pursued, let alone engaged ones. You don't have to reject me right away. I might be more suitable for you than your fiancé?"
Scarlett was so angry she couldn't even stay mad, crossing her arms and leisurely looking at the tall Quinn, "Quinn, how old are you? Are you even an adult?"
"I am 22 years old. I'm officially working at MBK Group now. Although my position and experience can't compare to yours, I definitely have potential. Plus, I'm the young master of the Kingsley family. How can I not measure up to your fiancé? And I'm younger than you. What more do you need to consider?"
Scarlett couldn't help but laugh, both amused and exasperated, "Mr. Kingsley, stop joking. I really don't have feelings for you."
Quinn pointed at Scarlett and laughed, "Don't you have feelings? You, the ice queen of our circle actually laughed at me. And you say you're not interested in me!"
Scarlett put away her smile, "Mr. Kingsley, there's no way we could be together, OK?"
"You're no fun. Take the flowers, and we'll talk about the rest later." Quinn said.
Scarlett couldn't argue with him, so she took the flowers, "Alright, now give me my ring."
"Hold on." he suddenly shouted.
"What for?" Scarlett was puzzled.
Quinn took out his phone, moved next to Scarlett, put an arm around her shoulder, and leaned his head close to hers, raising the phone, "Look up!"
The screen captured a picture of the two of them embracing, the red roses adorning the foreground, making them look like a sweet, loving couple.
Scarlett's face changed, and she reached for his phone, "Delete the photo."
Quinn smirked at the screen, "Scarlett, we really look good together. Imagine how many likes this photo would get if I posted it on Instagram?"
"Quinn, stop messing around! This kind of trick is really childish." Scarlett was speechless.
Quinn locked his phone and put it in his pocket, "The method doesn't matter. What's important is that you accepted my flowers and took a photo with me. Our relationship has already made a qualitative leap, so I still have a chance, right?"
Scarlett silently held her forehead, "Quinn, you..."
"What about me? I am young, handsome, and wealthy. You won't lose out."
How could he be so thick-skinned? Scarlett was exasperated. "So you're not planning to give me my ring?"
Quinn walked around the living room, tapping the back of a sofa chair, "It's not impossible. I heard you cook for Sebastian yourself. Tonight, I want to taste your cooking too. If I'm satisfied, I might give you the ring back."
As they were negotiating in the living room, the villa's front door automatically opened, and Owen brought Sebastian back.
Thinking of Sebastian's proposal, Scarlett frowned. Sebastian wanted her to team up with him, and now his brother Quinn was pursuing her.
"Sebastian, you're back." Quinn immediately said.
Sebastian saw Quinn and then noticed Scarlett holding a large bouquet of roses. His brow furrowed slightly, "Quinn, what are you doing here?"
Quinn casually draped an arm around Scarlett's shoulder, "I came to see Scarlett. Sebastian, why are you back so early today?"
It was only a little after five, and Sebastian was already back?
Clearly, Quinn didn't know that Sebastian's villa was directly connected to his company's computer system, with all day surveillance on all entry points. Plus, the cameras outside the main gate could catch even a bird flying in, let alone someone as conspicuous as Quinn carrying a bouquet of roses. Sebastian knew the flowers were for Scarlett.
But seeing Quinn with the flowers made Sebastian change his meeting schedule and leave work early, which was a behavior that was hard to explain.
Sebastian walked into the living room and sat on the sofa. For some reason, Somehow, he felt that the roses Scarlett was holding were particularly eye-catching. "Scarlett, come here."
Scarlett walked over with the flowers, "Mr. Sebastian Kingsley, what do you need?"
He said, "Put the flowers down first."
Scarlett sniffed the flowers, "Alright."
She seemed to actually like the roses.
She placed the flowers in a large vase and returned, "What is it? Go ahead."
Sebastian glanced at Quinn, then looked at the newspaper, "You mentioned checking my heart last time. Let's do it today."
"Why the sudden check-up? Is your heart bothering you?" Scarlett observed his face, which didn't show any signs of illness.
He nodded, "Come to my room."
"Alright, I'll be right there."
Quinn protested, "Sebastian, you can't just exploit Scarlett like this. She just got back, let her rest a bit."
Sebastian stepped onto the stairs and looked down at Quinn, "A doctor's duty is to treat patients at any time. Also, you should address her as Dr. Taylor."
Sebastian was even dictating this? Calling her Dr. Taylor? Quinn couldn't do it! "I'll wait here."
Sebastian said, "Go home for today. The check-up will take a while. Also, the project I gave you is three days overdue. I'll give you until midnight tonight."
"What? Tonight! Sebastian, that's too rushed!" Quinn was shocked.
"If you think that's too much, how about by eleven?"
"No! I'll head back to the office right away. Sebastian, take your time with the check-up. I'll come back another day to see Scarlett." Quinn grabbed his keys and hurried to the entrance to change his shoes. He knew Sebastian was strict about work and didn't dare disobey.
Scarlett came out with a medical kit just as Quinn was rushing out, "Mr. Quinn Kingsley, you're leaving? Not staying for dinner?"
"Another time. Take care! I'll be back." Quinn replied.
Sebastian frowned, "Scarlett, come on."
They went upstairs, and Sebastian lay on the bed. Scarlett set up the equipment, a stethoscope hanging around her neck. When she looked down, he was staring at her.
"Do you like roses?" Sebastian asked.
Scarlett leaned in to listen to his heartbeat, the cold stethoscope pressing against his chest through his shirt, making it hard to hear clearly.
"I don't mind them." After a moment, Scarlett added, "You need to take off your shirt."
Sebastian nodded, "Alright, you do it."
Scarlett's fingers trembled slightly. Why did that sound a bit suggestive?
She unbuttoned his button one by one, revealing his firm, well-toned chest. The defined abs showed a shocking surgical scar running across his skin.
Scarlett's hands paused, stunned, "Is this scar from the surgery two years ago?"
"Yes." Sebastian lay flat, his eyes watching her lowered gaze, her long lashes fluttering, a look of surprise on her delicate face.
"What's wrong? Is there a problem?" he asked.
Scarlett quickly looked up, "The post-surgery recovery wasn't great, otherwise, the scar wouldn't be so clear."
Thinking of what Kelly had said, Scarlett felt conflicted.
For someone as emotionless as Sebastian, how deeply must he have loved someone to almost lose his life?
The woman named Brooklyn seemed quite fortunate.
Sebastian's expression remained unchanged, "What's going on between you and Quinn?"
Scarlett shrugged, "He's trying to pursue me."
His brow furrowed slightly, a hint of displeasure crossing his stern face, "Reject him outright, by any means necessary."
She looked down at Sebastian on the bed, amused, "Mr. Kingsley, you're overstepping. Who pursues me is not of your business."
"Don't forget our arrangement." he added.
"Mr. Kingsley, I am your doctor. I can cure you or let you die without a trace. If you want to use my family to threaten me, you better hope you live long enough to see it through." As Scarlett spoke, she unbuttoned his shirt without hesitation, revealing Sebastian's body in full view. The belt wrapped around his waist, the rest of him exuding a raw sensuality.
Sebastian's fugure was impressive.
Suppressing her amazement, Scarlett continued, "You've probably seen countless doctors, but none can cure you completely. I'm your last hope, am I right?"
Sebastian suddenly sat up, grabbing her wrist tightly, their eyes locking with a rising tension, "Scarlett, are you threatening me?"
Scarlett met his furious gaze, placing the stethoscope on his chest with her free hand, smiling slightly, "Mr. Kingsley, don't get so worked up. Your heart can't take it. Listen, your heartbeat is already..."
Before she could finish, Sebastian's thin lips pressed against her talkative mouth, swallowing all her words in a kiss!
