Chapter 371 She is Mine
In Aucester, the only folks who'd dare talk to him like that were the elders of the Kingsley family. No one else! She was bold.
"Miss, I'm gonna make you fall for me," Quinn said, raising his glass and taking a sip right in front of Scarlett, flashing a confident smile.
"Not leaving yet?" Scarlett was speechless.
"Of course, I am leaving, but remember this: I've got plenty of tricks up my sleeve. See you around, Miss." Quinn tossed the ring into his suit jacket pocket, "I'll hang onto this for you."
Quinn swaggered off, and the women who had been watching their interaction since the beginning couldn't hold back any longer!
"Who is this chick? Suddenly messing around with Mr. Quinn Kingsley? Shameless!" one woman cursed.
"She looks a few years older than Quinn. At her age, still trying to seduce men? Where did this tramp come from?" another young woman chimed in.
"She must be crazy, trying to climb the social ladder!" the first woman shouted.
All the gossip and insults floated into Scarlett's ears.
A woman in a red dress with heavy makeup, Lily, swayed her hips as she walked up to Scarlett. Several other women followed, and within a minute, they had Scarlett surrounded. Scarlett's lips curled slightly, staying calm.
"Who are you? You seem pretty close with Mr. Quinn Kingsley," Lily sneered sarcastically.
Scarlett scoffed, "None of your business."
"Such arrogance! Tell me, did you come here just to seduce Mr. Quinn Kingsley? Do you even know who he is? You lowly woman." Lily spat out the word "lowly" with ease.
Scarlett's delicate brows furrowed, her fair face showing displeasure, "And who are you? What position do you have to question me? His girlfriend or lover?"
"I just can't stand you!" Lily said arrogantly, crossing her arms over her ample chest, pushing her back out to emphasize her curves.
"Is that so?" Scarlett pretended to be troubled, "Why don't you call Mr. Quinn Kingsley over, and we can clear this up face to face."
"Who do you think you are, daring to ask Mr. Quinn Kingsley to come over! How dare you!" Lily looked around, "Ladies, what should we do with a woman like this in Aucester?"
"Drag her out and teach her a lesson, make her behave!" a woman replied.
Scarlett couldn't help but let out a light, almost dismissive chuckle. Arrogance dripped from their words; did they truly believe they could intimidate her?
In an explosive, impetuous motion, Lily raised her hand, intent on delivering a stinging slap to Scarlett's face. But Scarlett, ever quick and agile, seized Ethel, the woman to her left, and yanked her into the path of the incoming blow.
Lily's palm collided with Ethel's cheek with a resounding crack, leaving Ethel pale with shock, her hand flying to her stinging skin.
"You lowly woman!" Ethel screamed.
Scarlett let go of Ethel and shrugged innocently, "Slapping games require cooperation. You two did well just now. Want to continue?"
"You bitch! I'm gonna kill you today!" Lily screamed and lunged at Scarlett again, her long leg aiming the stiletto heel at Scarlett's leg.
Then Scarlett sidestepped, avoiding Lily's attack. Lily missed and fell hard to the floor! She landed on her chest, making a crisp sound. "It hurts so much!"
The other women, seeing this, glared at Scarlett with gritted teeth, "Who do you think you are, daring to mess with Lily!"
One woman raised her bag to hit Scarlett, but Scarlett swiftly grabbed her wrist, hitting a pressure point that made the woman's arm go limp, causing the bag to drop to the ground.
Scarlett's eyes were cold and unfeeling as she looked at her, "Want to keep going?"
She glanced around at the surrounding women, holding one as a warning to the others, "Who else wants to step up? One-on-one or all together?"
The women exchanged glances. With so many guests at the party, they didn't want to cause trouble, so they all took a step back.
Scarlett released the woman's arm, "Good. From now on, keep your distance, or I can't promise I won't take out my bad mood on someone."
Lily struggled to get up, clenching her fists, "I won't let you off!"
"Show me what you've got then. What else do you want? Come at me all at once." Scarlett couldn't stand unfairness. She had given the host face by not causing a scene, but that didn't mean she would tolerate random provocations.
A woman pulled Lily's arm, "Let it go, so many people are watching."
Scarlett's gaze shifted, realizing that their fight had attracted countless eyes, all now focused on her. In the crowd, she locked eyes with Sebastian, whose deep, distant eyes held hidden meanings.
James, on the other hand, seemed even more interested. He tapped his glass with his finger, finding Scarlett quite intriguing.
Scarlett frowned, damn it, she had planned to leave quietly, but these women ruined her plan!
Piper also noticed Scarlett but didn't want Scarlett to steal the spotlight and ruin the party. She gave Scarlett a cold look before smiling and saying, "Don't just stand here, everyone. The banquet is about to start. Please take your seats."
James, holding his glass, walked up to Scarlett and extended his hand, "Miss, would you like to sit with me?"
Scarlett adjusted her dress, "Thanks for the offer, Mr. Rivera, but it's not necessary."
"Why? Do you think you're too good to sit next to me?" His eyes sparkled with a challenge, one eyebrow quirking upward.
Scarlett shrugged, "Mr. Rivera, aren't you afraid of Sebastian?"
"Everyone appreciates beauty. What's wrong with trying to know a little more like a beautiful woman like you?" James kept his hand extended, determined to take Scarlett away.
At this moment, Quinn strode forward, blocking James, with a half-smile, "Mr. Rivera, you seem quite taken with my date?"
James's face changed, frowning, "Your date? I didn't know Mr. Quinn Kingsley had such a beautiful date."
Quinn placed a hand on Scarlett's back, lightly holding her waist, "Now you know, Mr. Rivera."
James was unwilling to give up just like that, laughing, "It seems the lady has the final say in this matter. Miss, I sincerely invite you to sit with me."
Scarlett felt mocked. Quinn and James were using her in their rivalry, as if she was a tool.
"Mr. Quinn Kingsley, Mr. Rivera, I'm afraid I can't accompany either of you today. Please find someone else." Scarlett subtly shook off Quinn's hand, and took a step forward, leaving them behind.
"Why?" Both men questioned in unison.
"Because she belongs to me." Sebastian, walking against the bright light of the crystal chandelier, his tall and slender figure moving gracefully, carried everyone's attention, dazzling and captivating.
