Chapter 166: Someone Wants to Harm Brooklyn
Two hours later, in the hospital corridor.
"What did you do to her? How did she suddenly become like this?" Zach emerged from the emergency room, gripping Sebastian's collar tightly! The two men were of similar height, locking eyes with flames of anger erupting between them. People passed by in the corridor outside the emergency room, but no one dared to stop and watch their confrontation.
Even those who had just passed by quickly changed their paths.
Zach was known for being a gentleman in the hospital. Yet, here he was, fighting with Sebastian in the hospital corridor, a shocking scene for anyone to witness.
The CEO of MBK Group being grabbed by Dr. Carter in a hospital corridor was even more astounding.
Sebastian's eyes, as dark as ink, burned with immense anger as he locked gazes with Zach. "Let go."
Zach not only didn't release his grip but tightened it even more, pulling at the collar of Sebastian's white shirt. "You really don't care about Brooklyn at all! Do you know she's been poisoned?"
"Poisoned? What are you talking about?" Sebastian's eyes suddenly narrowed. 'Has Brooklyn been poisoned?' he thought.
He had no idea at all since she hadn't mentioned a word when she returned home in the morning.
"You don't even know, do you?!" Zach asked.
Zach grew even angrier, raising a fist and preparing to strike Sebastian's face, but Sebastian deftly blocked his fist!
"Tell me, what's going on?" Sebastian's gaze was murderous.
Zach wrestled his fist free while loosening his grip on Sebastian's collar. "She was poisoned last night with a lethal toxin. Although she was promptly treated, traces of the poison remain in her body, so she needs a thorough detox. Yet this morning, she insisted on being discharged."
At this point, Zach stared coldly at Sebastian, his refined face contorted with anger. He emphasized each word, "She said she needed to solve a 'family issue!'"
Ultimately, it was Sebastian's fault.
Sebastian didn't chicken out from taking responsibility. In a swift move, he grabbed Zach's collar, exuding a lion-like aura of menace. "When could she wake up?"
"Given her condition, I can't tell," Zach replied.
With Brooklyn's condition deteriorating, Zach couldn't make a judgment.
"What a quack! I think you can be dismissed now!" Sebastian shouted.
Zach smiled wryly, feeling helpless and bitter. "Yes, I couldn't cure her immediately. It's my lack of medical skills. But you, Sebastian, as her husband, are indifferent to your wife. Shouldn't you be dismissed from her?"
"Heh, in what capacity are you speaking to me, Dr. Carter?" Sebastian mocked coldly.
The awkwardness in Zach's position was the biggest gap between them. As just a leader and a colleague of Zach, it seemed too powerless for him to fight for Brooklyn. "To uphold justice, does it matter?"
Sebastian released the crumpled white uniform from Zach's grasp. "Tell me, what happened? How and where was she poisoned?"
Suppressing his anger, Zach couldn't hide anything from Sebastian at this moment. After all, this was about the truth of the matter and the perpetrator. Sebastian had the right to know.
"Last night, her close friend suddenly called me. By the time I arrived at the hospital, she was already unconscious. You should ask Kelly about this or wait for Brooklyn to wake up," Zach said.
The gentle lines of Zach's face tightened with pain.
Two thoughts simultaneously unfolded in Sebastian's mind. First, Brooklyn had been poisoned. Secondly, during the poisoning, the first person she thought of wasn't him but Zach.
This realization made Sebastian even angrier.
"Brooklyn!" Kelly saw Brooklyn being wheeled out of the emergency room and rushed towards the stretcher, "Wasn't she already out of danger? Why is she back in there?"
Kelly's eyes widened in confusion when she saw Sebastian, wondering why he was there!
'Why is the atmosphere around them so tense?' Kelly pondered.
Zach glanced at the pale-faced Brooklyn, feeling a pang in his heart. "There was a minor accident. You take care of her. Thank you."
Seeing the tense situation between the two men, Kelly didn't dare linger and nodded before following the stretcher to the ward.
Sebastian gave Zach a cold glance and then turned to follow.
"What happened last night?" Sebastian asked.
Sebastian's intimidating presence made Kelly stutter. As a victim, she felt she didn't need to be afraid.
So, Kelly recounted the events of the previous night.
Sebastian's cold eyes seemed to ignite with flames as Kelly spoke. Immediately lowering her head, Kelly felt she was in trouble. No matter how she explained it, it all seemed to be her fault.
"So, Ms. Wilson, I really should thank you for taking her to enjoy herself for the night." Sebastian's voice was terrifyingly icy.
Gritting her teeth, Kelly said, "I didn't know it would turn out like this."
Looking down at Kelly, who was much shorter than himself, Sebastian said, "She better be okay. Otherwise, you won't escape blame either."
Leaving behind those words, Sebastian didn't linger in the ward for even a moment and swiftly left.
Standing tall and ablaze with fury on the balcony, he called Dario.
"Find out everyone who was at Nightfall Bar last night. Don't let anyone slip through!"
"Yes, sir! Right away," Dario replied.
Dario didn't ask why, but Sebastian's anger indicated that something serious had happened.
"If the bar doesn't cooperate, shut it down permanently tonight," Sebastian added.
"Sir, consider it done," Dario replied.
Poison? It couldn't have been accidental ingestion. Someone must have been trying to harm Brooklyn.
Once he found out the truth, the person behind this must pay with their lives!
