Chapter 432 Reunion After a Long Separation, Sweet Couple

After dinner, in the warmly lit and elegant villa hall, Brooklyn sat on a single sofa reading a book, with a pillow under her arm, leaning slightly.

In the quiet study, the only sound was the rustling of turning pages.

Under the light, Brooklyn, dressed in light-colored loungewear, had her hair falling down, covering one side of her face. The light cast a faint shadow, with part of her face hidden in the darkness. Her delicate nose was illuminated by the light, creating a contrast of light and shadow, making her look dreamlike.

Sebastian stood at the top of the stairs on the second floor, leaning against the railing, observing Brooklyn as she read, as if admiring a painting.

Silently, he took very light and slow steps down the wooden stairs.

Brooklyn noticed the light suddenly dimming significantly. Sebastian's shadow blocked the light, casting over her open book. She lifted her head, turned around, and looked up.

Sebastian suddenly bent down and took her book away. "Dr. Mitchell, it's ten o'clock at night."

Brooklyn spread her hands and hugged the pillow to her chest. "And then?"

Sebastian stood in front of her, he blocking her view and the light. Though he wasn't overly domineering, his presence was naturally intimidating. "Then, I want to remind Dr. Mitchell that after ten o'clock at night, it's time to sleep. Besides, you're a patient now, and patients need rest."

Brooklyn nodded in agreement. "Alright, I'll go upstairs and sleep then."

With that, Brooklyn handed the pillow to Sebastian, hiding the deep amusement in her eyes, and walked past him up the stairs.

Sebastian looked at the pillow that had been thrust into his arms, closed his eyes in exasperation, and turned to see the white figure ascending the stairs. "Brooklyn."

They looked at each other, Sebastian stood in the middle of the living room, while Brooklyn stood on the stairs. The wind blew, the curtains fluttered, and the shadows of the trees swayed, creating a romantic and passionate atmosphere on the walls.

Brooklyn looked down at him. "What's up?"

She had to pretend to be clueless!

Sebastian put down the pillow, one hand in his pocket, leisurely looking at Brooklyn's innocent smile. "Tonight, I thought we could..."

"Oh, I just remembered I have some work to finish. I'll go take care of it. You do as you please." Hastily leaving a sentence, Brooklyn fled to her room on the second floor, closed the door, and leaned against it, breathing heavily.

After taking a few deep breaths, Brooklyn clenched her fists in frustration. What was she avoiding? She had waited so long for this day, hoping to be with him.

Damn! What was she thinking just now?

After Brooklyn ran away, Sebastian was stunned. Such a big reaction? What was she afraid of? Or was she avoiding something? Or was it too sudden for her to adapt?

Did he approach it the wrong way? Should he have been more subtle?

Sebastian reflected in frustration for a while, but couldn't figure it out. He turned off the living room lights and went upstairs.

Brooklyn slowly took a shower, changed into her pajamas, and sat in front of the vanity, applying some skincare lotion. Looking at her suddenly unfamiliar face in the mirror, she felt like she had traveled through time.

She pinched her face uncertainly, 'This face is indeed attractive enough to draw men. I wonder if Scarlett was annoyed to death by too many suitors.'

Of course, this unscientific thought was purely a distraction.

Her heart suddenly raced uncontrollably, unable to calm down.

Thinking about what Sebastian had just said, Brooklyn felt as if a fire had ignited in her heart, memories flooding back!

Every time she and he were together, his madness, wildness, plundering, and the pain of being torn apart.

And his embrace, his tenderness, his intimate whispers of her name in her ear.

Brooklyn, a woman married for several years, actually blushed.

Sebastian took a cold shower, changed into his robe, and lay on the bed with his hands behind his head, recalling the past with Brooklyn. He had to admit, she seemed to have a magic, always making him unable to resist, wanting to embed her completely into himself.

Intense and crazy, indulgent and thorough.

At this moment, she was sleeping not far away.

For a normal man, what a torment!

Brooklyn found herself unable to sleep. Ten-thirty, eleven o'clock, tossing and turning, her mind racing, unable to fall asleep.

So strange!

Sebastian also found it hard to sleep. Every time he closed his eyes, he saw her figure.

Damn!

Sebastian threw off the covers and walked out of his room.

Almost simultaneously, Brooklyn also opened her bedroom door. With a room's distance between them, both of their movements came to a halt.

Their eyes met, and the moonlight was like water.

Her slightly flushed face was illuminated by the moonlight, her features clear, with a gentle ripple.

His slightly stunned expression flickered, his brows furrowed, and his thin lips lifted.

"Why aren't you asleep yet?" Sebastian's voice was a bit hoarse, probably from the strain he had been enduring, his blood rushing, breathing too fast. In the night, his voice sounded like an open invitation.

Brooklyn, being a doctor, of course knew what Sebastian's reaction meant, so her face turned even redder. "I... I got up to drink some water."

Sebastian furrowed his brows. "Me too."

They were clearly a married couple of many years, but why did it feel like the awkwardness of a young couple on their first night together?

Brooklyn internally mocked herself. They were an old married couple, so why the awkwardness? Although, in reality, the time they had spent together was less than that of a couple married for half a year.

Sebastian despised himself even more. The usually straightforward Sebastian was playing it deep today. Damn! He felt stifled!

Each holding a glass of water, they took a sip, each lost in their own thoughts.

Brooklyn pursed her lips. "Sebastian."

"What's wrong?" His low, pleasant voice responded, the echo lingering, sexy and subdued.

"I think, maybe we could..." Brooklyn's head lowered more and more, her grip on the cup tightening.

Sebastian set down the water glass. His arm, gentle as wisteria vines winding through moonlight, curved around her trembling waist as she stammered. Through the gauzy nightgown, their feverish bodies fused like molten glass meeting its mold - his palm branding the dip of her spine, her clavicle imprinting against his collarbone. When bare skin finally connected, it detonated neural fireworks that ricocheted from arches to hairlines, synapses crackling like live wires until even their fingernails hummed with forbidden voltage.

His tall figure bent down, one hand cupping her chin, his warm lips accurately capturing hers, entwining and merging, closely fitting.

In the brief moment they parted, his low, husky voice spilled from his lips. "Brooklyn, relax."

Her breathing was erratic, her whole being in a daze.

Following his lead, she gradually relaxed. His large hands caressed her back, passing through the silk robe, gently guiding and encircling her.

Sebastian bent his long arms and lifted her by the waist, striding up the stairs and kicking open the master bedroom door.

In the moonlight, her hair entwined around his arm, they quietly gazed at each other, saying nothing.

But after a long kiss, Sebastian stopped his next move, pulling the fallen robe strap back onto her shoulder, hugging her from behind, his lips close to her ear, whispering softly, "Let me hold you to sleep."

Brooklyn smiled softly. "Okay."

"I won't take advantage of a patient." He closed his eyes, a playful smile on his lips.

Brooklyn chuckled awkwardly. "Haven't you taken advantage of me enough?"

Sebastian tightened his embrace, trapping her slender legs between his. "After all, I haven't gotten your parents' consent yet."

"Okay."

They fell asleep in each other's arms, their breaths mingling. That night was peaceful and beautiful.

The next day, when Brooklyn woke up, the space beside her was already empty. She rubbed her head and threw off the covers.

"I wasn't wrong. Your habit of morning runs will disappear. How about that?"

She stepped out to see Sebastian returning from his run, a fine layer of sweat on his face. In his workout clothes, Sebastian looked healthy, young, and incredibly handsome.

"Why didn't you wake me?" she asked.

"You were sleeping soundly. I couldn't bear to. Are you awake now? Breakfast will be ready soon." Sebastian smiled.

"You're making it?"

Sebastian nodded. "Until you're fully recovered, I'll handle all the chores. You just enjoy."

Brooklyn swallowed, feeling like she had found a winning lottery ticket worth a million dollars on the street.

"Alright! I won't hold back then!"

Brooklyn changed her clothes and came out to find the efficient Sebastian already busy in the kitchen.

She tiptoed behind him, sneaking a few slices of cucumber he had just cut, the crisp chewing sound and cool breath refreshing her.

"Nice knife skills."

Sebastian turned to see Brooklyn sneaking a bite. "Hungry?"

"Yeah, I can't wait for breakfast. I'm starving." She even rubbed her stomach for effect.

Sebastian, holding an unfinished cucumber in one hand and a knife in the other, leaned down to her lips. His warm lips pressed against hers, gently tasting, his tongue tracing. Though his hands didn't hold her, their lips were tightly sealed, tenderly demanding, his tongue taking a piece of unchewed cucumber from her mouth, crisp and sweet.

After a long while, he reluctantly released her, his deep, dark eyes seeing through her bright pupils, his thin lips lifting. "Still hungry now?"

Brooklyn's face was burning hot. "Even hungrier. You stole the food from my mouth!"

Sebastian took a few slices and put them in his mouth, leaning down to her lips, his brows arching mischievously. "Fine, I'll give it back double."
