Chapter 212 From Now on, I am Your True Husband.

When Sebastian came downstairs, Brooklyn was still there.

"Hold on a second."

His gentle tone was a big change from his usual coldness.

He slipped the gold card into his pocket, standing just a few feet away from her. He didn't want to pressure her at all.

Brooklyn stopped. She was in a rush to get to work and was already late.

"I'm in a hurry, can you..." Her tone softened.

"Just a moment; it won't take long. Or, I can drive you there." He grabbed his keys when he said that.

"No need, you have to go to work too. Let's just talk here."

Their polite distance only made things more awkward.

He frowned, "Did Jennifer talk to you?"

Brooklyn was startled. 'Why would Jennifer tell him?'

"Is it true?"

She hesitated when he asked again.

Brooklyn thought that there was no way could she let him know what Jennifer did. It'd be too embarrassing. "She did, but it was nothing important."

Sebastian's brow furrowed. 'So that's it!'

Her casual remark must  hide Jennifer's coercive tactics. He knew Jennifer's ways too well. "Did she give you a hard time?"

Brooklyn smiled, shaking her head, "She's my mother-in-law, so why would she? If that's all, I need to go to work."

He quickly caught up to her, grabbing her hand, "No matter what Jennifer said, don't let it shake you. Leave the problems to me. From now on, try to see me as your husband."

She was surprised and moved. 'His gentleness is unusual. When is he ever like this? He is Sebastian, after all!'

Brooklyn felt conflicted.

"Did you sign the divorce papers?" she broke the awkward atmosphere.

He shook his head, "No, I tore them up. No matter how many times you give them to me, I'll tear them up. I said I wouldn't sign, so I won't."

"How can you do this!"

She was so angry that she almost laughed!

'Sebastian's tone is like a child throwing a tantrum. What's he trying to do?'

"Don't even think about it. With your methods, you won't win against me. No matter what you do, I won't divorce you," he said bluntly, his domineering tone somehow fitting.

'Fine, if he won't sign, then he won't. I'll keep trying,' she thought.

She shook off his hand. "I'm going to work."

He suddenly remembered something. "Wait."

'Wait again? What's his deal?'

He pulled out a gold card from his Hermès wallet. It was a secondary card to his bank account, meaning she could use it freely without worrying about overdraft.

"Take this and buy whatever you want." He pried open her hand and placed it inside. "Don't you want a divorce? Before that, why not use me well? I have nothing but money, so don't be shy."

If their relationship weren't so awkward, she would have laughed. This side of Sebastian was warm and almost adorable.

"Do you agree to the divorce? That’s the main point."

"That depends on your behavior," he replied.

Lately, everyone seemed to be giving her money. Brooklyn felt her life was about to turn around.

Then, she put the card in her bag and was about to leave.

However, Sebastian stopped her again, leaving her speechless.

"Take this too. It's a new car in your name. From now on, it's yours. Since you want a divorce, start treating yourself well. Your worth determines what kind of man you'll find in the future."

'Does he not realize how weird that sounds?'

Brooklyn saw the emblem on the key—Maybach!

'A luxury car worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. If I, a doctor, drove it, people would definitely notice!'

"No need; my car is fine," she said, unable to accept it.

Sebastian frowned, "Is it fine? You can go check. I accidentally hit it while reversing earlier. My bad, I was too careless and wrecked it."

She was speechless.

'Fine! I'll take it as long as he agrees to the divorce!'

With the gold card and the keys, she suddenly felt like a wealthy woman.

Watching her leave, Sebastian put his hands in his pockets, sighing in relief. 'With that, she won't be tempted by financial offers.'

By providing her with the best material things, ordinary men wouldn't dare approach her easily.

He raised her worth to filter out the bad men for her.

How could she know his intentions?

Pulling out his phone, Sebastian wanted to confront Jennifer but thought twice. 'If I ask directly, Jennifer will think Brooklyn complained to me.' His fingers scrolled down to find Quinn's number.
