Chapter 378 What Kind of Person is Sebastian?
The next day, the weather was fine. Sunlight streamed through the window screen, casting a slanting light on Scarlett's face, highlighting her beautiful features, but her face was filled with gloom.
Whenever she thought about the owner of this villa being Sebastian, Scarlett got a headache.
And thinking about his demands made Scarlett's whole body ache.
Running in her workout clothes, she sought to distract herself through exercise. She couldn't think about i. Sebastian was just a jerk, and she couldn't take jerks too seriously.
Although Sebastian had used medication to fall asleep, he slept very soundly and comfortably that night. After changing into his workout clothes, Sebastian went up to the third floor.
Opening the curtains, Sebastian stepped onto the treadmill and happened to see Scarlett running in the garden through the window. She held her arms steady, her back straight, and her gaze fixed ahead, showing no emotion.
Was she not moved at all by his proposal?
Sebastian gradually increasing the running speed.
His steps quickened, and soon he was drenched in sweat. Large beads of sweat rolled from his forehead down his face, mixing with tears. The dopamine from the exercise made Sebastian feel an unfamiliar excitement.
Strangely, he had never felt this excited despite working out so many times before.
Could it be because of her, who was poker-faced and smiled insincerely?
Impossible! Sebastian refused to admit it deep down.
Scarlett returned from her run, quickly showered, and went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast.
How strange, Sebastian hadn't come down on time to mock her today? Could Sebastian have overslept?
Scarlett opened the fridge, took out some fruits, and froze in her actions.
Of course, he probably drank a lot last night, so were his words just drunken talk?
She washed the fruits and put them in the juicer. As the machine ran, Scarlett leaned against the counter, lost in thought again.
Stupid Sebastian! Drinking with a bad heart!
Wait, why was she worrying about whether he drank or not?
He could ruin himself however he wanted, what did it have to do with her?
The juice was ready. Scarlett poured two glasses and stood there in a daze again. No, she was his personal doctor, so it was only natural to be concerned.
If anything happened to him, it would be her fault.
Yes, that was it.
Good, she finally figured it out.
"Mr. Kingsley, good morning." Carrying breakfast out of the kitchen, she saw Sebastian coming down the stairs. He was wearing a clean, crisply ironed white shirt, rolling up his sleeves to reveal his lean, muscular forearms.
Sebastian seemed different from yesterday, looking quite spirited.
Scarlett stood at the table and introduced the breakfast, "Mr. Kingsley, there are freshly squeezed juice, medium-rare steak, avocado chicken breast salad, thick soup, whole wheat bacon toast. Enjoy it."
At the six-foot-long dining table, they each occupied one end. Sebastian looked at the white porcelain plate in front of him. Today's meal seemed quite lavish.
Sebastian picked up the knife and fork, looking across the table at her, "It seems Ms. Taylor is improving quickly."
Scarlett cut the steak piece by piece, "Thanks to Mr. Kingsley's tolerance, I must repay the favor."
Not only had she improved in cooking, but her understanding of Libertya's traditional culture had also increased rapidly. She read the traditional books Sebastian left on the shelf every day, completely absorbed.
Sebastian rested his arm on the table, "I look forward to your repayment."
Scarlett pretended not to understand, her eyes wandering between the plates, quietly eating.
Halfway through the meal, Scarlett couldn't hold it in anymore, "Mr. Kingsley, I must see my assistant today. "
Sebastian took a sip of juice and, surprisingly in a good mood, nodded, "Okay, I'll give you the address, and you can go yourself."
"Really?" She clearly didn't believe it, leaning forward and widening her eyes in inquiry.
Sebastian chewed his steak slowly, "It could also be false."
"I believe you! Thank you." The ice on Scarlett's face suddenly melted, like the first thaw after a snowstorm, bright and clear.
Sebastian couldn't help but shake his head. Scarlett suddenly made him feel like laughing.
Scarlett drove quickly to the address Sebastian had given her. It turned out to be a two-story villa, guarded by two stern, expressionless men in black suits.
Seeing Scarlett approach, the villa door was opened by one of the men in black, who bowed and said, "Ms. Taylor, please come in."
It seemed Sebastian had informed the guards in advance.
"Scarlett! Are you okay? Did he hurt you?" Lisa hugged Scarlett, checking her all over to make sure there were no injuries.
"I'm fine. What about you guys? Did they give you any trouble?" Scarlett asked.
Cory shook his head, "No, it's strange. Since we moved in, they woulf serve food on time. The villa has all kinds of entertainment facilities. Except for not being able to go out, everything else is great!"
Lisa pulled Scarlett to the dining room, "Look, this is today's breakfast. The food is amazing! I've even gained weight."
She didn't make this food today.
Scarlett understood. That bastard Sebastian never sent the food she made to Lisa. He did it on purpose.
Sebastian, that jerk.
"So, you two are enjoying VIP treatment here?" Scarlett frowned in despair. She had been anxious for a week, only to find out it was all for nothing?
"Not really. We can't go out, so it's not very free." Lisa shook her head.
Scarlett rubbed her tightly furrowed brow, "I see. You still have to stay here. I'll find a way to get you out."
"Take care of yourself. We're really fine here." Cory said.
Leaving the villa, Scarlett sat in the car, feeling a bit conflicted.
Could Sebastian not be as bad as she thought?
At this moment, at the Turner Manor.
Megan was holding the phone. "Piper, are you sure about what you just said?"
"Absolutely. Scarlett is Sebastian's personal doctor, but Scarlett's voice is exactly like Brooklyn's. I'm worried that Sebastian misses Brooklyn so much that he's using Scarlett to replace her. Megan, you need to keep a close eye on Sebastian." Piper replied.
Megan gripped the curtain tassel tightly, clenching her teeth, "I gave up my career for him, and he's still not satisfied?"
Piper said, "Megan, There were other factors involved in your decision to quit, not just him."
Megan was speechless. Over two years ago, she had a miscarriage, Brooklyn died, and Sebastian went through a lot. Everything happened suddenly.
While Sebastian was unconscious, Brian found her and arranged her engagement to Sebastian, but the condition was to leave the entertainment industry.
In the end, Sebastian had no idea.
"Piper, I'm resentful! I listened to Brian, but what do I have now? My career has gone, and so was my love." Megan was upset.
"Alright, what's the use of complaining? You must get in touch with Scarlett now. You need to find a way to become friends with her and make her give up any thoughts of liking Sebastian." Piper suggested.
"I won't let anyone take Sebastian away! Never!" Megan said.
In the café, Scarlett sat by the window, stirring her cup of Blue Mountain coffee.
Megan walked in, saw Scarlett, and smiled.
"Ms. Taylor, is it really you?" Megan, in a pale yellow spring dress, stood opposite her. Her wavy long hair draped over her shoulders, her delicate features finely made up, with slanted eyeliner and cherry-red lips. She was truly a beauty.
Scarlett nodded, "Hello, Ms. Turner."
Megan was taken aback. Scarlett's voice was really identical to Brooklyn's! No wonder Sebastian was so strange. If Piper hadn't told her in advance, Megan would have been scared to death.
Megan suppressed her unease and smiled gracefully, "You know me?"
Scarlett shrugged, "You are Sebastian's fiancée, how could I not know? I'm more curious about how you know me."
Megan sat down uninvited across from her, "As you said, you're my fiancé's personal doctor. How could I not know you?"
Megan ordered a caramel macchiato and then looked at Scarlett. Scarlett's appearance was very different from Brooklyn's, she was more beautiful, and her aura was more striking.
"Ms. Taylor, you probably know some things about Sebastian, right?" Megan probed.
Scarlett took a sip of the bitter coffee, "As his doctor, I'm privy to information I need to know, and I won't pry into things that are none of my business."
Megan's coffee arrived. She held the cup handle, smiling lightly and gently, "Then, how much do you know about Sebastian's ex-wife?"
Sebastian had an ex-wife? Scarlett really didn't know. She only knew Sebastian was the CEO of MBK Group. As for his personal life, she wasn't interested.
"I don't know." Scarlett replied.
Megan smiled, her fair face radiating warmth, "It's just as well. Sebastian's ex-wife hurt him deeply and hurt me deeply too. But she's already passed away, and it's all over."
"Why are you telling me this?" Scarlett stirred her coffee slowly. Sebastian had a deceased wife?
Instinctively, Scarlett felt Megan's approach wasn't coincidental, and her words weren't casual.
Megan sipped her coffee, sighing heavily, "Ms. Taylor, I'm afraid you'll get hurt, so I wanted to warn you. You're an exceptional doctor, and I don't want you to be blinded by something."
She observed Scarlett's reaction, but unfortunately, Scarlett showed no response. "I think Sebastian keeps you around because your voice is very similar to his late wife's. Do you understand ?"
It was a moment of sudden realization!
Scarlett understood it all! Sebastian went to great lengths to keep her around just to use her as a substitute for his late wife, to soothe his pain of losing her?
Megan reached out, intending to hold her hand, but Scarlett avoided it. She didn't like physical contact.
"Is there anything else?" Scarlett's voice was icy.
Megan touched her own abdomen, sighing sadly, "Over two years ago, I was pregnant with Sebastian's child, but I was framed by his ex-wife and lost the baby. My body hasn't fully recovered since. But because I love Sebastian, I even forgave him for that."
Megan was sick and didn't attend the banquet last night. It seemed she wasn't lying.
"So, when you were with Mr. Kingsley, his wife was still alive? And they weren't divorced?" Scarlett asked lightly.
"Yes, that's right. But Sebastian and I truly loved each other. It was his ex-wife who used tricks to marry him later." Megan nodded.
No matter how, this was still infidelity. Sebastian was indeed a scumbag.
Megan smiled gently,, "Thank you for treating Sebastian. I hope we can become friends. Would you be willing?"
