Chapter 613 Mrs. Kingsley, Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder
Dione and Susie both lunged for the envelope at the same time. Dione managed to grab a corner of the brown paper envelope, but before she could pull it away, Susie had already snatched it up.
"Dione, you might be good at stealing men, but when it comes to grabbing things, you're no match for me!" Susie held the envelope tightly, knowing without opening it that it contained a thick stack of photos.
"Give it back! Susie, give it back!" Dione scrambled to her feet, trying to snatch the envelope from Susie's hand, but Susie held it out of reach.
Susie gave a cold, mocking laugh, her lips curling in disdain. "Dione, I've got you now. If I hand these over to Dad, what do you think will happen to you? Judging by how hard he hit you earlier, he might just kill you."
Dione's heart sank into a pit of despair. She stared at Susie's smug expression, feeling like her fate was now in Susie's hands. Fear and anxiety gripped her. "What do you want?"
Dione's eyes widened with a mix of anger and desperation. This was her last stand, her final act of defiance.
Susie snorted. "It's simple. Do as I say. If you disobey or try to sabotage me, I'll give these to the man you fear most. Or maybe I'll just hand them over to the media. Let everyone see what kind of woman you really are."
Dione's body swayed, and she clutched the back of the sofa to keep from collapsing. Her voice trembled with fear. "What do you want me to do?"
Susie shrugged. "Who knows? I'll tell you when I think of something. Just be ready to follow my orders. And remember, don't make me angry. If you do, your fate will be very unpleasant."
Dione closed her eyes tightly. This wasn't a choice; it was a path Susie had laid out for her, with no alternatives.
"I agree, but... Susie, don't forget what you did back then."
"Me? What did I do? I don't remember. Or maybe you can tell my husband about it!"
"You... Susie, don't push me too far!"
Susie opened the envelope and slowly pulled out a few photos. "These are very clear. Front view, right side... Mom, I didn't expect you to keep such a good figure after having two kids. Very sexy! And your lover, he's in great shape too..."
"Susie! Shut up!"
"Dione! I'm in control now. You'd better behave, or else!"
The luxury sports car smoothly entered Aqua Vista City, heading towards the towering Nightfall Hotel. The hotel's brightly lit exterior was a beacon of opulence in the night.
Brooklyn bit her swollen lip, angrily punching Sebastian's chest. "That was so dangerous! Weren't you afraid something would happen?"
Sebastian turned to look at Brooklyn, her face flushed. "If I hadn't shut you up, it would have been more dangerous. Your jealousy is stronger than I thought, and you wouldn't have given me a chance to explain. What else could I do?"
His smirk was infuriatingly charming, his words delivered with an elegant, unassailable logic.
Brooklyn pushed his arm away, feigning annoyance. "Did I say something wrong? A night at the hotel, a revolving restaurant... what else don't I know about?"
Sebastian didn't respond, just smiled more and more confidently. "Yes, there are things you don't know, my dear."
Brooklyn crossed her arms and moved as far away from him as possible in the passenger seat. "You've already stayed at the hotel together. What else could you possibly do? Tell me, I'm all ears."
Sebastian enjoyed her jealous anger. In the past, he had gone to great lengths to make her jealous, even staging scenes with Megan. But Brooklyn had always remained calm and indifferent, never showing any concern about who he was with.
Now, he realized that Brooklyn could indeed get jealous, and it was adorable.
Brooklyn waited for him to continue, but he just stared at her with his intense blue eyes, as if trying to see into her soul.
"What are you looking at? I told you to speak." She was losing her composure.
Sebastian took her hand and kissed it deeply. "I'm watching you get jealous. It's cute."
"You... I'm not jealous. Being angry and being jealous are two different things."
"Really? But I think you wouldn't get angry over something that isn't real. You know exactly what's going on between Catherine and me, don't you?" Sebastian was confident, having figured out her thoughts. She wouldn't get upset over something trivial.
The car pulled into the hotel's underground garage. Sebastian parked and didn't rush to get out, continuing to look at Brooklyn with a mix of temptation and desire.
Brooklyn couldn't hold out any longer. "Okay, I know you're using her to get the permit. But Sebastian, don't you know you naturally attract women? If you so much as look at them, they'll throw themselves at you. How can any woman resist?"
Sebastian unbuckled his seatbelt and pulled her close. "What about you?"
"What are you doing? Let go of me." Brooklyn was caught off guard, seeing people in the garage.
"I don't care about other women. I just want to know about you."
"I'm not like them."
"Really?" Sebastian moved closer, his handsome face filling her vision.
"I..."
Before she could protest, he kissed her again, deeply and lingeringly. Finally, he kissed her nose. "How about now?"
Brooklyn's face heated up. "You're such a pervert."
"Yes, tonight I am."
Sebastian opened the car door and scooped Brooklyn into his arms, striding to the elevator that went straight to the top floor.
Brooklyn wrapped her arms around his neck, her slender body nestled against him, feeling his dominant affection. "Sebastian, you're like a wolf tonight."
Sebastian paused at the door. "Absence makes the heart grow fonder, my dear."
Brooklyn entered the suite's code, unlocking the door. Sebastian spun around and kicked it open.
"Looks like you've checked out my place." He laid Brooklyn on the sofa, his tall frame hovering over her.
Brooklyn played with his tie. "Guess."
"Did you find any traces of other women?" Sebastian propped himself up, half his body suspended over her.
"No, but I found this." Brooklyn pulled out something she had picked up at the Jordan Villa.
Sebastian frowned. "What's this?"
Brooklyn unwrapped it. "I found this under Catherine's seat. It's a powder."
Sebastian sat up. "Powder? Can you tell what it is?"
Brooklyn laughed. "If I'm right... It's an aphrodisiac. We could test it."
Sebastian raised an eyebrow. "You want to try it?"
Brooklyn elbowed him. "Kidding. What if it's poison?"
"I'll try it." Sebastian grinned, pulling her close. "I'm not afraid."
"Don't joke. I need to test it first."
Sebastian sighed as Brooklyn slipped away.
"Dear, the night is short."
"Let me test it first. It's only ten." Brooklyn dissolved some powder in water and poured it on a plant. "If it's what I think, the flowers will bloom in half an hour."
Sebastian rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "If it's what you say, Catherine planned to use it on me."
"Obviously. She wanted to make you lose control. Catherine's methods... I can't even." Brooklyn shook her head, amused by the lengths women would go to.
"If she used this, I wouldn't mind making her fall harder." Sebastian tapped the window, watching the plant.
"Fall harder? You have a plan?" Brooklyn was curious about how he'd handle Catherine.
"Want to know?" Sebastian trapped her between himself and the window, his presence overwhelming.
Brooklyn played with his tie, rising on her toes. "I... don't want to know."
"What do you want?"
