Chapter 143 Sebastian, I Must Hold Your Heart Tightly.
'Megan answered the phone, but how can she be holding Sebastian's phone? Isn't Sebastian away on a business trip? It's also so late. Does it mean they are going to sleep together tonight?' Brooklyn thought.
"Where's Sebastian? Give him the phone." Brooklyn tried to keep her voice as casual as possible, though she felt like her veins were about to burst.
She regretted not taking her phone into the operating room and blamed herself for missing all his calls.
However, she could not let Megan sense that.
Megan, hearing no panic in Brooklyn's tone, let out a cold laugh. She pretended to turn over, making suggestive noises. "Sebastian is asleep, of course. If you have something to tell him, I don't mind passing it on."
Megan mimicked Brooklyn's tone but deeper in sarcasm.
Megan waited quietly for Brooklyn to lose control and break down. She wanted to see Brooklyn go mad. Hopefully, Brooklyn would curse out at her, so she could record it and play it back for Sebastian at the right moment. That way, Brooklyn's departure from the Kingsley family would not be far off.
However, Brooklyn did not do that. She had countless things she could have said back, but she was too tired. She lazily replied, "Let him sleep on then."
She then hung up.
After setting down the phone, Brooklyn let out a self-mocking laugh. It seemed Sebastian did not call to check on her. Otherwise, why would he be lying next to Megan?
Closing her eyes, Brooklyn felt utterly exhausted. Her right hand trembled more violently in greater pain.
The piercing pain shot through her hand. Today's overexertion seemed to have triggered an old injury. If it worsened, the consequences would be dire.
Brooklyn swiftly walked out.
At Bayside Villas, in the living room.
Megan, seizing the moment before Sebastian came over, hurriedly deleted the call log, and placed the phone back where it was.
In the room darkened by night, Sebastian descended from the study on the second floor. The dazzling light from the crystal chandelier made the place look like a royal castle.
Thus, when Sebastian's tall and elegant figure came downstairs, he looked even more radiant than usual. His attractiveness was not just in his striking features but also in his innate noble aura.
Megan stood up, gazing at Sebastian with infatuation as she clenched her fists.
'I must hold on to Sebastian!' Megan thought.
"Sebastian, are you done with your work?" Megan smiled brightly with her voice as gentle as a spring breeze that was just waiting to be drunk from.
Sebastian lazily replied, "Yes."
Megan quickly approached, wrapping her hands around his arm. "Since you're done, let's go sleep. It's so late."
Sebastian had been about to go to bed. However, upon seeing Megan, he put away his fatigued, pulled away from her hands, and said, "I still have things to do. You sleep first."
Megan pouted as her delicate hand slowly caressed his chest. "Sebastian, I waited for you on purpose. You've been away from home for so many days. Finally, you're back. Let me spend the night with you, okay?"
Sebastian removed her hand. "You're pregnant. Go to bed early."
"Sebastian."
"Go to bed."
Megan dared not insist further and obediently agreed. "You should sleep soon, Sebastian."
Sebastian sat on the living room sofa and picked up the phone he had left there. There were no messages.
He had contacted Brooklyn so many times. She could not have missed it. He had clearly stated in the text to call back. Brooklyn could be stubborn, but she would not ignore his calls.
Had something happened to Brooklyn? Was she busy?
Even if Brooklyn was busy, she should have had time to check her phone.
Brooklyn had been completely silent these past few days. He had called home, but she had not returned a single call.
Sebastian had even sent texts, but she still did not respond.
Was Brooklyn's desire for divorce so strong that she hoped he would never come back?
Holding the phone, Sebastian paced the living room. As he walked, he found himself at the end of the hallway near the first room around the corner. It was her room.
Sebastian reached out, turned the doorknob, and with a click, the door opened.
