Chapter 267 Sebastian's Actions Are Too Extreme
'What?! That day was my first day back in the country. After getting off the plane, I took a taxi home and encountered a car accident on the way. Sebastian's car was rear-ended, and I got out halfway to assist. He wasn't injured, but when I bent down to listen to his heartbeat, I found it was racing. But I never dare to imagine that after nearly four years, he will tell me the truth like this!' Brooklyn thought in shock.
Sebastian reached into the floral arrangements in the back of the car and pulled out a lush, dewy gardenia. Under the gaze of the crowd, it felt as if he was both the center of attention and utterly alone. He walked towards her with the grace of a meteor tracing a path across the sky.
Brooklyn shook off Kelly's hand, frantically shaking her head. "No! Sebastian, you can't do this. If you go through with it, you'll be a target for everyone. The Turner family won't forgive you, and neither will the Kingsley family. You're cutting off your own escape route!"
Sebastian was acutely aware that if he didn't use this drastic measure to sever ties with the Turner family, his life would remain forever constrained, never at peace.
He knew Brian and Jennifer's ruthlessness all too well. He was familiar with the Kingsley family's merciless nature, having once been one of them—cold and self-centered. Now, he was ready to face everything for the sake of one person.
His defiance when he married Brooklyn against his family's wishes was just the beginning of this battle.
"Brooklyn, I'm sorry for all the hardship I've caused you over the past three years. I promise it won't happen again." He gripped her shoulders, not giving her any chance to flee.
Brooklyn looked up at him, her tear-filled eyes lost in confusion. "Sebastian, you're pushing me into a corner."
He took a gardenia and carefully placed it in her hair, its white petals contrasting beautifully with her face under the dim light, glowing with an almost ethereal radiance.
Sebastian's commanding presence silenced all murmurs, leaving the world still, with only their shared breaths and heartbeats remaining.
"Mrs. Kingsley, you have nowhere to run. Even if it's a dead end, you'll face it with me."
He pulled her close, his lips near her ear. "Brooklyn, I love you."
Brooklyn passively accepted his embrace, resting her chin on his shoulder as tears, hot and corrosive as acid, burned her eyes.
Brooklyn thought, 'But, I'm sorry, Sebastian. I truly am.'
The photographers went wild, their flashes a blizzard of light capturing the couple's intimate moment. The top-tier magnate Sebastian boldly declared his love for his wife at Lawrence's birthday party, quashing any rumors of discord. The entire room was left with no room for Megan's rebuttals.
Brian, Jennifer, and Kelly were all present.
Sebastian released her shoulders and gently took Brooklyn's hand, his affection enveloping her like the vast sea. "Now, let's face this dead end together."
Holding the bewildered Brooklyn in his arms, Sebastian seemed oblivious to the chaos he had just unleashed. He approached the stage, his gaze coldly surveying the furious Turner family trio. "Thank you, Mr. Turner, for your hospitality. Megan, as you can see, this is my decision."
He made it clear that there was no need for further entanglement. As for the child, Megan could handle it however she wished. There was no possibility of marriage.
Megan's eyes were red with anger and hatred. "Sebastian, are you really willing to abandon your own child? Aren't you afraid of being labeled as ungrateful?"
Brooklyn shut her eyes in pain. Sebastian's actions were so extreme that he didn't even consider the consequences!
In a bold move, Sebastian openly defied both the Turner and Kingsley families at the crucial Aucester event, daring to go against the tide!
"Megan, do you see where you went wrong? It's something that should have been clear in a day, but you took five years to figure it out."
Ignoring her dignity, Megan scrambled down the steps and clung to Sebastian, her hands gripping him tightly. "No! I won't accept this! I love you, Sebastian! I love you so much, I can't live without you! Our baby—our child—you can't just abandon it!"
Sebastian's face hardened, his voice cold and devoid of patience. "Let go. Release me before I do something you'll regret."
"No! I won't! I love you! I've loved you for five years! Why should she get to be with you? She used those dirty tricks to get into your bed! Why should she have what's mine?"
Megan had crossed Sebastian's line.
With a powerful yank, he sent Megan flying away. If it hadn't been for Lawrence's quick intervention, Megan would have fallen hard.
Megan sobbed uncontrollably, shouting and hurling insults. "Sebastian, you can't treat me like this! Brooklyn is a trashy woman—she doesn't deserve you! She doesn't deserve anything!"
As she cried and railed, Megan tried to tear Brooklyn apart with her hands.
Brooklyn stood quietly beside Sebastian, the white gardenia in her hair blooming like a delicate flower.
Karen clenched her teeth, her anger palpable. "Sebastian, do you realize what you've done? From now on, the Turner family and the Kingsley family will be at each other's throats!"
Jennifer shut her eyes in anguish, slipping and crashing into a Roman column.
Sebastian had dug himself an endless pit; he was on a path of self-destruction.
Holding Brooklyn's hand firmly, Sebastian ignored Jennifer's fury and Lawrence's menacing stance.
He turned to Brooklyn with a soft smile. "Brooklyn, if we can't enjoy the glory together, will you face this struggle with me? Will you?"
