Chapter 109 Falling into the Water
"It's better for you to come over here!" Brooklyn responded.
Susie was trying to set her up, overestimating her abilities!
When Susie was about to jump into the swimming pool, Brooklyn fiercely pulled her hands.
"Splash!"
All of Susie's weight pressed down on Brooklyn in an instant, and both of them fell to the ground together!
Upon hearing the noise from this side, the guests immediately shifted their gaze over and saw the scene of the two falling to the ground.
"What's going on? Brooklyn, what did you do to Susie?" Seraphina suddenly screamed.
Under the pressure, Brooklyn couldn't get up for a moment, her back had hit the ground hard.
She gasped in pain, but there was no change in the expression on her face. She pushed Susie away and asked with concern, "Susie, why were you so careless? If I hadn't caught you in time just now, you would have fallen into the pool."
Gritting her teeth, Susie spat out from between her teeth, "B*tch! What are you so proud of!"
Their conversation was in whispers, and others didn't hear it. Brooklyn's smile remained on her face, her concern and gentleness earning praises from the onlookers.
"Of course, I'm proud. Susie, use your brain next time you do something."
Seraphina helped Susie up and checked her body several times. "How are you? Are you okay? Are you injured?"
"I'm fine!"
Brooklyn propped herself up on the ground, and someone reached out to help her up. She lowered her head and thanked them.
Sebastian and Quinn both saw the scene just now. Brooklyn's action of pulling Quinn was so fierce that it didn't seem like something a woman would do, but clearly, she was the woman who was pushed to the limit.
"Ms. Mitchell, your elbows and back are scraped. You need to have a doctor come over to treat them immediately."
Brooklyn raised her arm and looked at it. Some skin was scraped off, and she smiled. "It's no matter. Carry on, everyone. Don't get too close to the pool. If something like this happens again, I can't guarantee I'll be able to save someone in time."
Ignoring her injuries, she graciously reminded the guests, earning unanimous praise, "Ms. Mitchell, I didn't expect you to be so humorous!"
Sebastian frowned, turned around, and prepared to leave the scene.
He had no interest in watching the drama tonight.
Quinn was surrounded by a group of beautiful women, drinking one glass after another, showing off his playboy demeanor. Brooklyn couldn't be bothered to look.
But what she didn't see was that Quinn's gaze had been focused on her all along.
Brooklyn raised her hand, feeling the pain in both elbows at the same time. When she looked up again, Sebastian was nowhere to be found in the crowd.
There was an indescribable sense of loss in her heart. If tonight's events were a performance, the only audience she wanted to keep was him.
She wanted him to watch as she handled all the difficulties herself.
But he left, and her enthusiasm for the performance disappeared.
However, the banquet was not over yet, and as one of the hosts, she couldn't leave early.
"Brooklyn, you are indeed cunning. You were able to successfully enter the Kingsley family back then. You do have some real skills, after all." Susie's malicious gaze slid over her fingers. "Not wearing your wedding ring? You're not divorced yet."
Clutching her handbag, Brooklyn tightened her fingers. "I have the ability to enter the Kingsley family, and I also have the ability to kick you out of the Mitchell family. Do you believe it?"
Susie replied, "Just based on you? Brooklyn, take a look at yourself first. And also, the largest shareholder of the Mitchell Group is me. The heir of the Mitchell family is my mother!"
Brooklyn gritted her teeth. She had misjudged the person back then!
Brooklyn responded, "As long as I want to, my father's friends will immediately unite to attack the Mitchell Group. Mr. Baker is just one of them. Let me remind you, Mr. Baker's company is now larger than two Mitchell Groups combined."
Susie was furious. "Brooklyn, you forced me into this!"
Susie suddenly snatched Brooklyn's handbag, and everything inside spilled out with a clatter until she saw the sparkling diamond ring.
"It's really here!"
Susie picked up the ring and held it in her hand.
"Look! Let's see what you'll do this time!"
"Give it to me!" Brooklyn said.
Susie raised her arm, and the white dot of light traced a parabola in the air, falling into the center of the pool.
"Susie, you wait!"
Susie smirked. "I'll be waiting!"
The ring, her wedding ring! She couldn't lose it!
Brooklyn kicked off her high heels, spread out her hands, and, with a splash, jumped into the swimming pool!
The whole scene was in an uproar. Even Sebastian, who hadn't walked far, was stopped in his tracks by the loud splash.
"Ms. Mitchell! Ms. Mitchell!"
Brooklyn? What was this foolish woman doing again?
The temperature of the pool was very low now. After jumping in, Brooklyn felt cold all over, and even the drunkenness from earlier dissipated. She was completely sober, the water seeped into her wounds, causing intense pain.
She didn't care, she had to find the ring, she must find it!
She took a deep breath, bent down, and dove into the water, struggling to keep her eyes open and search carefully.
'The ring! My ring! ' Brooklyn thought.
The people on the shore were dumbfounded. "What's going on? What is Ms. Mitchell doing?"
Susie explained with a smile. "Brooklyn felt that the atmosphere tonight was too oppressive and wanted to liven things up for everyone, right?"
"So Ms. Mitchell still has a special performance? Wow, her diving skills are impressive. She has been holding her breath for two minutes, right?"
Quinn saw Brooklyn jump into the water and heard the discussions. He dropped his cup, didn't even take off his shoes, and jumped into the pool!
Quinn tried to pull her up, but Brooklyn struggled desperately. "Let go of me!"
"Are you out of your mind? Are you really performing and holding your breath? If you don't go up now, you'll become famous!"
"Quinn, get away from me. I dropped something!"
As she pushed Quinn away and tried to dive into the water to search, the crowd outside the pool was bustling, taking photos with their phones, the flash blinding. Brooklyn was really going to become famous.
"Are you crazy? What did you drop? Go up first, drain the water, and then we'll search for it."
"You're the crazy one. If the water is drained, it will be drained away as well."
She bent down again to search for the ring, the vast pool rippling.
Quinn used force to lift her. "Go up. I'll help you find whatever you lost."
Brooklyn looked coldly at the onlookers outside, her lips turning purple from the cold. She bit them and said, "If you really want to help me, get rid of these people for me."
