Chapter 24 Report

The atmosphere plummeted to a chilling degree, the cold so intense one could almost hear the crystalline chime of forming ice. As Quinn swiveled his head, he caught the icy glare in Sebastian's eyes and a thought flashed through his mind, 'I've been caught in the act.'

Brooklyn, however, remained undaunted. She boldly met Sebastian's frosty gaze, a silent chuckle echoing in her mind, 'He was so tender with Megan just moments ago, yet with me, he can only muster cold indifference. Sebastian, you truly excel at playing favorites.'

"Sebastian, what a coincidence," Quinn interjected, attempting to divert Sebastian's attention. He could tell from the murderous look Sebastian was directing at Brooklyn that he was on the verge of losing control.

Sebastian shot Quinn a frigid glance. "Go home!"

Quinn was taken aback. "Sebastian..."

"Go home!"

Brooklyn leaned towards Quinn, whispering, "Your brother wants you to leave. Why are you still here?"

Quinn murmured back, "What will happen once I'm gone? Sebastian will surely throttle you."

Brooklyn merely chuckled. "If he wanted to strangle me, he wouldn't have waited until now."

Observing their whispered exchange, Sebastian's fury intensified. He gestured dismissively, "Quinn, I told you to leave."

Sebastian's commanding presence was overwhelming. Quinn dared not defy him. Swallowing hard, he conceded, "I'll leave now."

Quinn wanted to defend Brooklyn, but the brewing storm between her and Sebastian, visible in their locked gazes, made him feel as though any further words would be a death sentence. He had no choice but to retreat from the battlefield.

Brooklyn lifted her chin slightly, keenly observing the subtle shifts in Sebastian's eyes. His gaze was a storm of fury, cold and ruthless.

"You're very bold," he said, his words slicing through the air like sharp blades, each syllable a deliberate arrow.

Brooklyn responded candidly, "Even if I'm bold, I can't outdo Mr. Kingsley. You have a wife at home and a mistress elsewhere. You truly are a champion, Mr. Kingsley."

Her words were laced with sarcasm, devoid of warmth or anger, as if she were merely a disinterested observer. Sebastian's fist tightened in his pocket, his hand dangerously close to colliding with Brooklyn's face.

"Are you jealous?" he asked, his eyes narrowing as he searched her face for any signs of jealousy-induced anger. But he found none. All he saw was the satisfaction of revenge and her usual cold detachment.

"Mr. Kingsley, which of your eyes saw me being jealous?" Brooklyn retorted, her face impassive.

Sebastian advanced towards her, step by step. With each stride, the surrounding air pressure seemed to drop, making it increasingly difficult for Brooklyn to breathe.

Suddenly, Sebastian's immaculate fingers gripped Brooklyn's chin. "You're not jealous? Then why all this fuss?" he demanded.

The streetlight cast a halo around Brooklyn, highlighting her delicate features. Her defiant gaze was filled with contempt, but devoid of warmth. She smiled and said, "I haven't gone through any trouble. It's simple for me."

Sebastian's fury reached a boiling point.

"You're courting death!" he bellowed.

Brooklyn braced herself for a blow, expecting to crumble under Sebastian's grip or be knocked out by a slap. But it never came. Sebastian was livid, veins bulging on his forehead, his capillaries reddening. It was a display of rage so intense it bordered on bursting blood vessels.

'Even so, he still didn't hit me?' Brooklyn was taken aback, but upon reflection, she wasn't surprised.

'Why would Sebastian hit a woman he doesn't care about?' she mused.

Brooklyn slowly placed her hand on his arm, fully aware of how much Sebastian detested her touch. But tonight, she was determined to provoke him. "Mr. Kingsley, your beauty is waiting inside. Aren't you going back to accompany her?"

Sebastian's mind raced, 'Beauty? As expected, she saw Megan.'

"You dare claim you have no reaction?" Sebastian hissed, his handsome face drawing closer to Brooklyn, forcing her to lean back.

"What reaction can I have? Oh, right. I'm quite pleased. Mr. Kingsley, seeing you embrace your beauty, I..." Brooklyn's sarcastic retort was abruptly cut off as Sebastian's lips crashed onto hers, swallowing her unspoken words and sealing them between their entwined lips.

He didn't want to hear another word from the woman beneath him.

'This woman is driving me insane!' Sebastian thought.

"Let go!" Brooklyn struggled futilely against Sebastian's imposing figure as he pinned her against the car, his kisses wild and forceful.
