Chapter 478 Drunk Driving, Car Accident

After hanging up the phone, Sebastian returned to Brooklyn's side with a calm expression. "You hungry? What do you feel like eating?"

When he mentioned it, she realized she was indeed a bit hungry. "There's a restaurant across from the hospital. I want to eat their food."

Sebastian almost broke into a sweat. "Just that?"

"Yeah, I don't want anything greasy. Their food's great. Let's eat together later."

It was just a simple meal, yet she was so happy, her eyes and heart filled with little bursts of joy. This adorable look was different from any moment he remembered of Brooklyn.

But he liked it.

No matter how she was now, he liked it.

"Alright, I'll go get it."

Without another word, he turned to get Brooklyn's meal, but she grabbed his hand, making him turn back in surprise. "What's up? Changed your mind?"

Brooklyn looked up at his bright, deep eyes, almost falling into their endless depths. "No, let my assistant get the food. You stay here. I have something to tell you."

Sebastian held her hand in his palm and sat down beside her, gently brushing her hair from her forehead. "Okay, I'll stay here with you."

She didn't keep him there because of a desperate need to see him every minute. She just suddenly wanted to sit quietly with Sebastian, doing nothing, just listening to his breathing, looking at him, and casually chatting about unimportant things.

"What does my wife want to say? You talk, I'll listen."

His gentle and considerate manner was so natural, as if he had practiced it countless times.

She wondered if the cold Sebastian she used to know was really him.

Thinking this, she got distracted for a moment. When she finally came back to her senses, she looked at him. "Were you talking about Piper on the phone earlier?"

She heard it?

"Yeah, it was about Piper."

"Do you want to deal with her?"

Brooklyn tried to read his eyes for an answer, but this man was too good at hiding his thoughts, giving no chance for any glimpse.

"Deal with? How can you say deal with? A woman like Piper, with a vicious heart, would never treat patients as diligently as you do. She's like a ticking time bomb in my hospital. I'm just cleaning up the internal mess as a leader."

The word "just" sounded so casual, so indifferent, so nonchalant!

Alright, Brooklyn roughly knew what Sebastian was up to.

As they were talking, Arabella came in with two takeout boxes and knocked on the door. "Dr. Mitchell, your lunch."

"Come in."

Arabella entered and placed the food down, sneaking a glance at Sebastian. The charm of this man was always absolutely attractive, absolutely commanding, absolutely charismatic!

No wonder so many people were desperate to connect with him.

The blame was truly not on the lovesick girls but on the handsome men!

Seeing Arabella still standing in the room after delivering the food, Brooklyn's elegant face showed a light smile. "Anything else?"

"Yeah! Dr. Mitchell, I need to take a few days off." Arabella adjusted her glasses, smiling a bit embarrassed.

"Didn't you just take some time off? Why do you need more now?"

Arabella smiled. "I have some urgent matters to handle. It'll be over in a couple of days. I promise I won't take any more leave for a month after this."

She even swore seriously, her expression quite earnest.

"Alright, write a leave request, I'll sign it."

"I've already written it. I just need your signature, Dr. Mitchell."

Brooklyn glanced at the leave request in her hand. "It seems like you are prepared. Next time, if you do this again, I'll make you work overtime for a week."

Despite her words, she signed the request.

Arabella left the room with the leave request, looking delighted.

After she left, Brooklyn turned her gaze to Sebastian. "Guess who that girl is?"

"Your assistant."

The first layer of meaning.

Even if he didn't know deeper secrets, Sebastian would never say he didn't know.

Brooklyn was too familiar with his ways. "She's not just my assistant, she's also Zephyr Warner's daughter."

This time, Sebastian's face finally showed some change. Thinking back to the girl's features, she did resemble Zephyr's wife a bit.

Zephyr's business was huge, but he never followed the trends of the four major families, nor did he flaunt his wealth. He was a decent businessman with a great reputation, having almost no enemies in Aucester.

But he didn't expect his daughter to be Brooklyn's assistant.

"Zephyr's daughter is working as your assistant. Dr. Mitchell's status must be unimaginable."

Sebastian said as he opened the plastic bag containing the two food boxes, clearly deliberately misunderstanding Brooklyn's point.

"Sebastian, as Aucester's richest man, are you mocking me, a mere doctor? Isn't this a form of flaunting your wealth?"

When he opened the food boxes, the aroma wafted out—simple, clean, home-cooked flavors—something Sebastian rarely smelled.

But it felt nice.

Sebastian wanted to place the food on her bedside table, but Brooklyn refused.

"Help me up, my back hurts from lying down. I want to sit on the sofa outside for a while." She stretched out her arms, childishly asking for his embrace.

"Alright, wherever my wife wants to eat, we'll eat there."

Instead of pulling her up, he bent down and lifted her into his arms, placing her on the sofa, propping a pillow behind her back, then opened the plastic food boxes.

"Also, Arabella isn't just Zephyr's daughter. She's also Quinn's nemesis. I can tell Quinn is interested in her."

This news surprised Sebastian. "Quinn likes her?"

Honestly, based on Arabella's outfit and appearance just now, Sebastian couldn't believe the high-standard Quinn would be interested.

Quinn liked women like Brooklyn.

"Yeah, I'm sure. So I'm wondering if Quinn has a thing for uniforms? Likes women in lab coats?"

Sebastian laughed mysteriously. "In that case, it's possible. After all, men like me who can see your beautiful soul beyond your surface are rare."

This narcissism, Brooklyn had to admit.

She picked up some food and stuffed it into his mouth, blocking his words. "Eat!"

She said fiercely, but the smile in her eyes never faded.

How wonderful it was to share a simple meal and chat with the one you love.

It was a woman's ultimate wish, and nothing could compare to this.

The next day, around five o'clock, most of Aucester was still asleep when an urgent news story hit the Aucester headlines online.

#Simon Scott drunk driving late at night! Causing a serious car accident, and currently hospitalized!#

The news wasn't short, summarizing that Simon was driving back to Aucester from Regal City, and due to drunk driving and night driving, he collided with a truck on the road.

Brooklyn woke up to the news, lazily yawning. Lawrence's affection for Simon was truly cheap.

Just days ago, their engagement ceremony was celebrated as a perfect match, and now they were enemies. A marriage formed by fragile commercial interests, how sad, how pitiful.

Looking at the picture of Simon covered in blood, Brooklyn's expression turned gloomy. Such terrible and pitiful means of exploitation were chilling.

Turning her gaze, she looked at Sebastian lying beside her, his arm stretched out, her head resting on his chest. His handsome face in the thin morning light had a breathtaking charm.

She was truly grateful that the person she loved exchanged not interests, but genuine feelings with her.

Putting down her phone, Brooklyn turned and kissed his forehead, her lips curving into a happy smile.

Sebastian woke up around six, his internal clock rousing him. As he opened his eyes, Brooklyn closed hers.

He shook his head with a light smile, lovingly touching her head. "Since you're awake, why pretend to sleep?"

She lifted her head from his chest. "Rumor has it Sebastian likes to be first in everything. I don't dare wake up before you."

"Sharp-tongued, being first depends on the situation. I won't compete in this."

Brooklyn yawned, covering her mouth. "Get up, Mr. Kingsley."

Sebastian moved closer to her. "Won't my wife give me a good morning kiss?"

This request for a kiss, really, no one else could match.

Brooklyn kissed him lightly on the lips.

But for someone as passionate as Sebastian, a light kiss seemed too unfair. He wrapped his hand around the back of her head, deepening the kiss, tongues entwined, kissing seriously.

"Mm... I haven't brushed my teeth."

She wasn't afraid of his kiss, but a deep kiss first thing in the morning was a bit embarrassing.

Sebastian released her head, tapping her nose. "No worries, I already brushed them for you."

Brooklyn, married for several years, blushed a bit.

After showering and dressing, Sebastian saw the news on his phone, scrolling down with little interest, then putting it aside, as if Simon's life or death had nothing to do with him.

Even though Sebastian knew, Simon's half-life was bought by his wife with hundreds of billions of dollars.

Of course, the money belonged to Lawrence; he wouldn't touch it.

Sebastian didn't care, but someone couldn't sit still.

Seeing the news, Samantha went almost crazy. She got up disheveled, crying and cursing, "How could this happen? How could Simon have a car accident?"

The Scott family villa was in complete chaos. Samantha, in her pajamas, ran to the living room, seeing her parents hurriedly putting on shoes to go to the hospital. She grabbed her father's arm. "Dad! I don't believe Simon was drunk driving! Someone must be trying to kill Simon!"

"We haven't figured it out yet. Let's go to the hospital first. You change and come over."

"Okay! I'll go right away!"

As her parents' car sped away, Samantha clutched her phone, angrily yelling at the servants, "What are you standing there for? Get me clothes!"

Compared to the chaos at the Scott family villa, the Rivera Villa was much calmer.

Piper glanced at the news, coldly laughing. "James, if Simon falls this time, can you take over his factory in the western suburbs?"

James glanced sideways, his eyes sparkling. "Simon's assets won't fall to me. I won't get involved."

"Oh?" Piper questioned James's view.

James put down his phone, analyzing. "Simon is Megan's fiancé. The ones wanting to deal with Simon are either Brooklyn or Sebastian. Whoever takes the benefit will be the unlucky one."

"Timid people won't get benefits."

James shook his head. "I've observed Sebastian's abilities many times since returning. He's a proud man. So, Piper, never go against him. If you've wronged him before, apologize immediately. Don't wait for him to come to you. Otherwise, I can't help you."

Piper glared at him. "Cryptic, what are you trying to say?"

She cursed him, but her heart tightened.

"Piper, don't you understand?"
