Chapter 531 Attending Megan's Wedding

Sebastian's words made Brooklyn's rice taste even sweeter. She held her phone and bit her fork, "Who taught you to be so sweet? Do you think a few nice words will do the trick?"

"If sweet words don't work, I can prove it with actions. But we're a bit far apart right now. Wait until I get back."

Brooklyn almost spat out her food, lowering her voice as she glanced around the hospital cafeteria, "Mr. Kingsley, it's the middle of the night over there. It's noon here. I can't exactly share your feelings."

Sebastian stood on the balcony, looking up at the vast starry sky, his fingers tapping lightly on the railing. Yes, he missed her so much that he couldn't sleep while she was busy at the hospital.

"Are you busy today?" he asked, leaning against the balcony, just wanting to hear her voice, even if it was just small talk.

"Not too bad today. Thanks to you for bringing my mentor here. Sofia is now under his care. I checked on her before lunch. He's using traditional medicine, which will take longer but has fewer side effects. With him here, I'm sure Sofia will be fine."

Mentioning her mentor, Brooklyn's tone lightened up. Professor Harrington was quite a character at the hospital.

"And how's everything at home?" he asked naturally.

Home?

Brooklyn chewed her food, "I don't think I need to tell you about home. Quinn is there, and his updates are probably faster than the news."

Sebastian chuckled at her sharp wit, looking up at the sky, thinking, "If Donny and Amarantha give you a hard time, don't hold back. No matter how much trouble you cause, I'll handle it. But don't let yourself be wronged."

Brooklyn's fork felt heavy and light at the same time. "Mr. Kingsley, if you keep talking like this, I won't need any side dishes. Your sweet words are enough to fill me up. It's late, you should get some sleep."

He really didn't want to hang up, didn't want her voice to leave his ears.

"Alright."

After hanging up, Brooklyn was still staring at her phone, smiling foolishly. When did their conversations become so warm and tender, so heartwarming?

It was truly blissful!

"Hey, Brooklyn, why are you blushing at your phone?"

Benedict's voice suddenly broke the moment, changing the scene instantly.

Brooklyn put down her phone and continued eating, "Professor Harrington, have a seat and join me."

Benedict looked at her food with disdain. "You're a doctor, and you're eating this for lunch? It's too bland and plain. Not a single meat dish, that's not good."

Brooklyn glanced at Benedict's plate, which was full of meat.

"Professor Harrington, at your age, you should eat less meat. Too much meat is hard to digest and bad for your stomach!" Brooklyn continued eating her vegetables, which were good for clearing the blood clot in her head.

She actually wanted to eat meat, too.

Benedict added a piece of fish to her plate, his wise eyes observing her, "Brooklyn, you've been married to Sebastian for a few years now, right?"

Brooklyn nodded with her mouth full, "Yes, why?"

Benedict turned into a seasoned expert, "I knew it! You young people don't take care of your bodies. Always dieting to control weight, not eating this or that, all ending up malnourished. How are you supposed to have kids like that? You've been married for years, hurry up and have a baby! Give me a grandchild to play with! How about it?"

Brooklyn rolled her eyes at him, "Professor Harrington, you're getting more mischievous with age!"

"Old rascal, old rascal, the older, the more mischievous! I'm serious, Brooklyn, hurry up and have a little Brooklyn. I'll help you take care of your health, and your baby will be healthy!"

Brooklyn was speechless. Her parents weren't pressuring her to have kids, but Benedict was.

"I can't get pregnant right now. I've been on medication since the accident left a blood clot in my head."

Benedict quickly checked her pulse, his face turning serious, "Oh, you really do have a blood clot. But, Brooklyn, besides the blood clot, you have another small issue."

Brooklyn bit her fork. As a doctor, she didn't feel like she had any problems.

"What issue?"

Benedict added a big piece of rib to her plate, "Eat this, and I'll tell you."

Brooklyn frowned, "You better not be tricking me, or I'll throw out all your tea leaves and not let you have a sip at work."

"Come on! Eat it, and I'll tell you."

Brooklyn humored him and ate half, "Alright, spill."

Benedict acted mysteriously, "Brooklyn, do you have a bit of a hormonal imbalance? How's your life with Sebastian? Good?"

Brooklyn tightened her grip on the fork and banged it on his plate with a loud "thud." "Benedict, are you eating or not? If not, get back to work! When Sofia wakes up, I'll have her pluck out all your beard hairs!"

Benedict laughed, his wrinkled face full of creases, "I hit the mark, didn't I? Brooklyn, your medication won't interfere. I'll help you take care of your health, and you'll have a little Brooklyn in no time!"

Benedict's white lab coat fluttered as he walked away, looking quite ethereal. Brooklyn watched his retreating figure and looked at her reflection on her phone screen, "Is it really that obvious? We're doing fine..."

The day of Megan and Simon's wedding arrived.

In the morning, Donny and Amarantha looked at her with sour expressions. "Brooklyn, you're going to Megan's wedding today, right?"

Brooklyn nodded casually, "Yeah, why? Didn't get an invite?"

Donny and Amarantha scoffed, "Sister-in-law, we're part of the Kingsley family. We have the right to attend the Scott and Turner family wedding!"

Brooklyn nodded again, "That's good. You'll need a dress for the wedding. Do you have one? I can lend you a custom-made Verdanza dress, only worn once."

Amarantha knew Brooklyn's dresses were all custom-made by Sebastian, each one a masterpiece, highly coveted. She had long wanted one.

But wearing a dress twice was unheard of, and Brooklyn was clearly mocking her.

"No need! I have plenty of dresses! Worry about yourself. At least I have Donny with me. You're going alone, how pitiful."

Brooklyn laughed lightly and gracefully went downstairs. "You're right. I'll tell Sebastian to feel sorry for me."

If she really told him, Amarantha would be in big trouble.

Quinn hung up the phone. "Brooklyn, I'll go with you to the wedding. We'll leave at nine. Let's pick out a dress and get styled first."

Brooklyn smiled back, "Amarantha, want to join us for a top designer styling session?"

Donny tried to stop her, but Amarantha couldn't resist the allure of beauty and agreed.

After a simple styling session, Brooklyn, already naturally beautiful, looked even more stunning, making Amarantha look plain in comparison.

"This dress looks great on you, Brooklyn. It suits you perfectly!" Brooklyn praised Amarantha's white lace dress, which looked gaudy and over-the-top, far from elegant.

In contrast, Brooklyn's simple long dress had no embellishments, almost too plain for a wedding.

Amarantha and Donny took one car, while Brooklyn and Quinn took another.

On the way, Brooklyn said, "Quinn, this dress you picked for me feels more like I'm going to a funeral."

Quinn, driving, smirked, "Don't you think it's fun, Brooklyn?"

Brooklyn smiled wryly, saying nothing.

The car stopped outside the hotel, where a red carpet lined with red roses stretched from the entrance to the parking lot. The wedding setup was lavish, almost blindingly so.

Brooklyn stepped out of the car, her long legs in high heels, walking gracefully, each step like a ripple in a pond.

As Sebastian's wife, Brooklyn naturally drew attention wherever she went.

But Brooklyn's plain white dress with no decorations made the photographers pause. Was she here for the wedding or to crash it?

Brooklyn's stunning smile didn't waver under the surprised gazes.

Quinn, in a white tailcoat, stepped out of the car, holding a lightweight silk shawl. With a flick of his hands, the wine-red shawl floated like a cloud.

The photographers went wild, capturing the breathtaking moment, their cameras clicking furiously.

Beautiful, instantly captivating the entire scene, drawing all eyes!

The red shawl floated onto Brooklyn's shoulders, perfectly complementing her white dress. In an instant, it transformed her look from plain to passionate.

Brooklyn hadn't expected Quinn to have a backup plan. She smiled subtly, guessing there were more surprises to come.

Arm in arm with Quinn, they walked inside. Though Sebastian wasn't by her side, Quinn's status as the Kingsley family's second son was also significant, making them the media's focus, overshadowing other guests.

"Quinn, when did you learn this trick?"

"You've got it wrong. This was all Sebastian's idea!"

"How did he know?"

"You think he can't manage things from Averlake? You're underestimating him."

As they spoke, they entered the banquet hall, filled with elegantly dressed guests, champagne towers, and crystal chandeliers competing with the sunlight.

Simon had rented out the entire hotel, with three floors for the banquet and upper floors for guests to relax, sparing no expense.

No wonder it was a million-dollar wedding.

"Wow! Mrs. Brooklyn Kingsley is here! Looking stunning today!"

"Stunning, yes, but isn't her outfit too simple? No jewelry except for her wedding ring."

"True, a diamond necklace would look great on her beautiful neck!"
