Chapter 464 Megan is Arrested

"It's over!"

That was the only thought left in Valerie's mind as the hotel door was kicked open.

The thought seized all her breath, like the final cry of the apocalypse.

The hangover had hit, and while the details of last night were fuzzy, the faces at the bar and the morning's aftermath told her everything. Valerie got it—she got it all.

It was over. She had been hiding for over two years, but she couldn't escape.

What terrified Valerie even more was that when the door opened, it wasn't just the police who rushed in, but also reporters with cameras!

Behind police officers, cameras were held high, flashing blinding lights like lightning that hurt her eyes. She clutched the blanket tightly around her, completely petrified.

"Valerie, you're under arrest for kidnapping. You have the right to remain silent, but anything you say…" The officer recited the Miranda rights, coldly eyeing the three men standing in the bedroom, covering themselves. "Put your clothes on!"

The three men, realizing the situation was far worse than they had anticipated, quickly pleaded, "Officer, we have nothing to do with her. We were just… just making money! We didn't know what she did! We're not accomplices!"

The officer barked, "Enough! Get dressed, now!"

At the officer's sharp rebuke, the reporters surged into the room like sharks drawn to blood, their cameras greedily capturing the four figures frozen in shame.

"Miss Sanchez, last night you admitted to helping Ms. Turner kidnap Ms. Mitchell and her friend. How do you explain that?"

"Did you leave the entertainment industry two years ago because of the kidnapping?"

"How do you explain what happened this morning?"

"Miss Sanchez, what do you have to say about your private life?"

"Someone has claimed that you've had inappropriate relationships with dozens of men. How do you respond to that?"

"Miss Sanchez, please answer!"

Valerie felt like she had fallen into a bottomless pit, surrounded by beasts with gaping jaws, ready to tear her apart and devour her.

"I don't know!" Valerie ignored the blanket that could've covered her, her hands gripping her head as if to hold herself together. Her hair hung in wild, ghostly strands around her, her face pale as death, her eyes empty. Over and over, she shrieked, "I don't know!"

The reporters continued questioning,"Miss Sanchez, Ms. Mitchell has not released any statements so far. How do you plan to handle this?"

"Ms. Mitchell is Sebastian's wife. How do you plan to face them?"

Brooklyn and Sebastian returned to the villa after their morning run, almost simultaneously noticing the newspaper spread out on the table.

"Her life is over. It's a pity, really," Brooklyn sighed, glancing at the front-page photo.

Even though the photo was pixelated, anyone could guess what a woman and three men were doing in a hotel room.

Moreover, the severity of the situation went beyond just a scandal.

Valerie was now facing kidnapping charges.

And the person she kidnapped was Sebastian's wife.

Valerie was completely finished.

Sebastian glanced at the paper coldly. "You sound almost sympathetic."

Brooklyn shrugged. "Not really sympathy. Just thinking some people are so foolish, ruining everything by themselves. But…" Brooklyn put down the paper and looked at Sebastian. "I'm more curious about how Megan will react."

Sebastian nodded. "She…"

When it came to Megan, Sebastian felt that saying even one more word was a waste of energy.

Besides, he was already prepared.

"Let's shower and have breakfast," Sebastian said, changing the subject, making his feelings about Megan clear.

Brooklyn shrugged. "Alright! But today probably won't be easy."

Sure enough, they hadn't finished breakfast when both their phones rang almost simultaneously.

Sebastian glanced at the number and flipped his phone over, continuing to eat.

But Brooklyn answered her call. "Zach, what's up?"

Sebastian's eyes flashed, but he continued eating his breakfast calmly.

The moment Zach heard the news, he picked up the phone and dialed Brooklyn. That kidnapping case from years ago had always bothered him, but life got in the way, and eventually, it just slipped through the cracks.

Now, it was being brought up again in such a shocking way.

"I saw the news. The kidnapper has finally been caught. I'm happy for you, but there are still many questions about the case. Do you have any plans?" Zach was worried.

"So far, the lawyers are handling it. The police haven't summoned me yet, so there's probably no change." Brooklyn replied.

It was strange. She was the victim, yet the police hadn't summoned her for a statement. But then again, with Sebastian around, things didn't always follow the usual rules.

Brooklyn couldn't help but smile.

"The mastermind is Megan. It's complicated and won't be easy to handle…" Zach hesitated, standing by the apartment window, then laughed. "I almost forgot, you have Sebastian by your side. He'll protect you."

"Yeah, don't worry. It'll be handled. I'm fine, thank you." There was still a hint of formality in her tone.

"That's good. Are you going to the hospital today? Do you want to take a day off?"

"No need. See you at the hospital."

"Alright, see you at the hospital."

Brooklyn hung up and looked at Sebastian, who was eating with relish. "Is there nothing you want to ask me?"

Back in the day, Zach was Sebastian's rival. Now, Sebastian listened to her phone call with such calmness. It's true—ever since they buried the hatchet, his attitude shifted surprisingly fast.

"I heard everything. No questions. It's good for my wife to have a like-minded male friend."

Brooklyn put down her phone and smiled, tapping her plate with her knife and fork. "What about you? Why didn't you answer your phone?"

His phone hadn't stopped ringing while she was on her call.

"Unimportant people aren't worth sacrificing my meal time."he said indifferently.

"Arrogant, Mr. Kingsley!"

Sebastian smiled. "I'm personally having breakfast with you. Aren't you more arrogant?"

"An honor!"

The unimportant person calling Sebastian was Simon.

Simon was anxious. He hadn't expected to be a step too late, and now he was cornered with no way out!

Megan clenched her fists, running her fingers through her hair in agitation. "What do we do now? The news can't be retracted. Whether Valerie is telling the truth or not, even without evidence, I'm already seen as the culprit! The news is out… the Turner Group's stock will plummet!"

Simon clenched his fists, rubbing his temples. "Sebastian isn't answering. My people at the police station seem to be under control. You'll have to confront Valerie."

Megan was desperate,"No! I instructed Valerie to kidnap Kelly. If we confront each other, I'll be exposed! I can't go! Valerie said she has evidence. If she hands it over to the police, I'm finished!"

Simon stood up, breathing heavily. "I won't let you go down like this. There must be a way."

At that moment, Megan's phone rang again. The sound was like a death knell, making her face turn pale.

"Dad…"she answered.

Lawrence's voice boomed through the phone, "Megan, what's going on in the news? How are you still a suspect?"

Megan collapsed onto the sofa, tears streaming down her face as she sobbed, "Dad, you have to help me. This time, Sebastian won't let me go, and Brooklyn has always wanted to destroy me. Dad, they'll ruin me and the Turner Group!"

Lawrence slumped into a chair, his eyes vacant. "you mean it's true? You really kidnapped her?"

"Dad, I was young and foolish. I loved Sebastian too much and wanted to be with him back then. Dad, you have to save me. The only way is to get Sebastian to drop the charges and for Valerie to keep quiet. Dad… I can't go to jail. If I do, I'm finished." Megan cried.

Lawrence's lips trembled, unable to speak for a while. "Megan, what do you want me to do? Why did you have to provoke Sebastian…"

Megan's call was still connected when the doorbell rang urgently.

She looked up in shock, staring at the screen showing the door. Police!

Five or six officers stood outside!

"Dad, the police are here! You have to find a way to save me!"

Lawrence was torn with anxiety,"Megan, don't be afraid. I'll find a way. I'll suppress the news! The video… yes, I'll contact the media to delete the video!"

Hanging up hurriedly, Megan grabbed Simon. "The police are here!"

Simon put his arm around her shoulder,"Remember, no matter what Valerie says, don't admit anything. She hasn't produced evidence yet. You have to insist you're innocent. The remittance slip alone can't prove you're the culprit. Distance yourself! I'll get the best lawyer to defend you."

Megan felt cold all over, taking a deep breath with her eyes closed. "If I get through this, I'll help you with anything you need, unconditionally."

Simon stroked her hair, smiling as he looked into her eyes. "I'll do my best to help you."

"I'll be watching."

The door opened, and several officers stepped into the living room.

Holding an arrest warrant, the officer announced coldly, "Ms. Turner, please come with us."

Megan stared blankly at the officer, her eyes unfocused. "I'm innocent. I request an appeal. Talk to my lawyer first."

"Ms. Turner, you're accused of being the mastermind behind the kidnapping. Please come with us to the station. You can use your lawyer for your defense later."

"You can't take me! Let go! Do you know who I am?" Megan struggled desperately, but couldn't escape the cold handcuffs.

With a click, the icy shackles bound her wrists tightly.

"Ms. Turner, cooperate, or you'll be charged with obstructing justice."

Megan shouted, "Simon, you have to find a way! You have to save me!"

Simon followed the officers out the door, helplessly watching Megan being taken away. "I'll find a way!"

As the police car sped away, Simon tried calling Sebastian again.

Sebastian had finished breakfast by then. Seeing Simon's number, he frowned and answered. "Mr. Scott, what's so urgent?"

"What do you want?"

Sebastian twirled his car keys, heading to the garage. "I don't understand what you mean."

Simon gritted his teeth, forcing a smile. "We both know what's going on. Just tell me, what will it take for you to let Megan go?"
