Chapter 431 You're Such a Good Actor, You Deserve an Award

It turned out that the magical existence of an opponent could indeed belong to Sebastian and Brooklyn.

For example, the person who just walked in.

Seeing the person who entered, Brooklyn couldn't help but cover her mouth and smile, then gave Sebastian a meaningful look. With just one glance, Sebastian instantly understood Brooklyn's intention.

Holding a large bouquet of carnations and dressed in a very formal suit, the person was James.

James, in a black suit, stood out starkly against the predominantly white hospital room. The scent of cologne on him was quite strong, seemingly to mask some other odor, making the cologne's intensity rather obvious.

This was truly a case of trying to cover up.

James, of the Rivera family, who always enjoyed lingering in red-light districts, naturally had no shortage of women around him. Sneaking away for some amusement now and then was an open secret to everyone.

Upon entering and seeing Sebastian inside, James greeted him first, "Mr. Kingsley, I didn't expect to see you here. I thought Ms. Taylor was alone with no one to take care of her, so I rushed over as soon as I got the news."

Rushed over?

Scarlett had been in the hospital for three days already.

James and Piper's excuses were not very convincing!

Sebastian didn't have the leisure to argue with him. In a calm and indifferent tone, he sipped his tea and said, "Mr. Rivera, with your busy schedule, I'm surprised you found time to visit my personal doctor."

James handed the carnations to Scarlett with both hands, "Scarlett is not just your personal doctor; she's also my friend. I had to come and see her. Besides, who wouldn't like someone as talented as Scarlett?"

These people were all actors.

Brooklyn glanced at the carnations in front of her, "Mr. Rivera, there are no more vases in the room. It would be a shame for such beautiful flowers to wither. Why don't you take them downstairs to the cardiology department and give the flower to your sister?"

James noticed the vase on the table, filled with flowers sent by Quinn. He grabbed the large bouquet of carnations, assessed them, and said, "This doesn't need to occupy a vase anymore."

With that, he threw the flowers into the trash can and carefully placed his own flowers in the vase, even moving it closer to Brooklyn. "Fresh flowers are the perfect gift for a beauty. As for withered blooms, let's not tarnish Ms. Taylor's sight with them."

Brooklyn glanced at the discarded flowers, wondering if Quinn would smash James' car if she told him about this.

Sebastian remained unperturbed, drinking tea, reading documents, and watching the scene unfold.

Brooklyn chuckled, "Mr. Rivera, you're quite domineering. No wonder you're a big shot with many women around you. It's an eye-opener for me."

James caught the sarcasm but didn't care. He pulled up a chair and sat down, carefully observing Scarlett's face. The more he looked, the more he felt that the women he had been with were inferior. Compared to Scarlett, they were all ordinary. Only Scarlett was truly a stunning beauty!

If he had a wife like her, he wouldn't need to look for other women.

James said, "Scarlett, I heard you and Kevin have broken off your engagement. Why not consider me? I think, regardless of my status or looks, I'm a good match for you."

Brooklyn looked him straight in the eye, "Mr. Rivera, your looks are indeed top-notch. I don't know how many people you've charmed, but I think you should consult my husband about this."

Husband?

James squinted his eyes and furrowed his brows, then burst into laughter, "Scarlett, you're too naughty. You're joking, right? You've broken off your engagement; how could you have a husband?"

Brooklyn smiled, "Sorry to disappoint you, Mr. Rivera, but not only do I have a husband, we've been married for several years."

"Scarlett, I don't understand your humor! But even if you're married, I bet your husband isn't as good as me! I can give you anything you want. As long as you're willing, I have enough wealth to guarantee you. Divorce him and be with me."

Sebastian's expression remained calm, his eyebrows unruffled. James' act of playing dumb was really not convincing.

He had known for a long time. Sebastian had mentioned at the banquet that his wife had returned. Although he hadn't publicly stated it was Scarlett, James couldn't be unaware of the special relationship between him and Scarlett.

James' act of playing dumb was very poor.

Brooklyn smiled lightly. She looked at James, making him feel uneasy and dazzled. Then her red lips parted, "Honey, do you think Mr. Rivera is better than you? Should I consider him?"

Sebastian remained seated on the sofa but comfortably changed the position of his crossed legs, put down the document, and looked at Brooklyn, "Mr. Rivera, as the chairman of Infinite International Group, with a net worth of a billion dollars, is not bad."

Brooklyn looked at James and smiled slowly, "Mr. Rivera, my husband is very generous."

James: "Scarlett, you..."

She nodded, "As you can see, I am Sebastian's wife. Let me introduce myself; my name is Brooklyn Mitchell. Nice to meet you."

She extended her small hand proactively, her smile filling her clear eyes, with a wise light shining from them.

"Brooklyn?"

So, she had regained her memory!

"That's right, it's me. But Mr. Rivera, you've been abroad for a long time and don't know me. However, your sister and cousin, we know each other very well."

James didn't end up shaking Brooklyn's hand. He didn't even know how he walked out of the hospital room.

Time flew by, and three days passed in a flash.

Many people came to visit Brooklyn in her hospital room, but Megan, Brian, and Jennifer were not among them.

On the day of her discharge, Sebastian personally carried her downstairs, holding her protectively in his arms. Even on the way home, Brooklyn stayed nestled in his embrace.

Brooklyn asked, "Sebastian, how do you plan to tell your parents about this?"

Sebastian held her close, "Why should I tell them? Do you think their opinions can influence my attitude towards my marriage? I've decided to marry you and I will never let go."

Brooklyn snuggled her head into his chest, wrapping her arms around his waist, "Me too. But there's something I promised my mom."

"Oh? What is it?"

Brooklyn suddenly smiled, looking up at Sebastian. The car was moving, and the shadows of the trees outside illuminated his face intermittently, "My Mom said that if I found a good man, I should bring him home for her to see. So, you need to pass my parents' approval."

Sebastian laughed, his smile incredibly handsome, his features deep and his eyes tender, "Alright! Once you're better, we'll go to Averlake together to visit your parents. I'll make sure they approve of me as their son-in-law."

Brooklyn said, "No rush. There's something I want to do soon. I don't want to wait any longer to deal with Susie. I want to go to Aqua Vista City."

"Oh?"

Sebastian fell silent for a moment. He didn't want Brooklyn to go personally, "No need. In a few days, there's an event in Aucester. Susie and Marc will definitely come. It's not worth the trouble of a long flight for someone like her."

Brooklyn smiled, her eyes sparkling with the comfort of being pampered, "Sebastian, be careful, or I might become spoiled."

Sebastian nodded, chuckling lightly, "You should have been like this long ago."

It was wonderful to be pampered, cherished, and held like a treasure by him.

"So, Brooklyn has regained her memory?" Kevin sat in his office, playing with a porcelain artifact on his desk. His long fingers traced the carved patterns.

"Yes, Mr. King. Our people said that Scarlett had an accidental fall, and her memory was unexpectedly restored. She has now returned to the villa with Sebastian." one of his subordinate replied.

Kevin continued to look at the artifact, smiling, but with a sinister edge, "So, her marital relationship with Sebastian is fully restored."

"Currently, their relationship seems very good. Sebastian was with Scarlett the entire time she was in the hospital."

Kevin sneered, "What a touching couple!"

"Mr. King, what do you plan to do now?" the subordinate asked.

Kevin smirked, letting go of the porcelain and looking at the distant horizon, "The Taylor Group's funding chain has been cut off, right?"

"Yes, without any investment from Blue Sky International Group, the Taylor Group's stock price will plummet within three days, even worse than last time."

"Good, let it hit rock bottom! Buy in large quantities; I want to take over the Taylor Group!"

Kevin's fist hit the desk with determination. He was determined to acquire the Taylor Group!

"Yes, sir!"

In Sebastian's private villa, the aroma of food wafted from the kitchen.

Brooklyn was almost drooling, "Sebastian, what delicious food did you make? My mouth is watering."

Sebastian was cooking, but he wouldn't let her see or participate, saying he wanted to surprise her.

Actually, even seeing any dish he prepared would delight her.

Sebastian's voice floated out from the kitchen along with the aroma, "Practice your handwriting. Your writing is terrible."

Brooklyn looked at her attempt to copy Sebastian's handwriting, feeling a bit dejected. Practicing handwriting wasn't something that could be done overnight. The characters were too difficult to learn. Her hands were only dexterous with a scalpel; writing was too challenging.

She wrote a few more characters, slowly and lazily.

After a while, Sebastian came out of the long hallway with two plates, the aroma making Brooklyn lose all interest in writing.

"You made fish! When did you learn to cook fish?" She exclaimed.

Her favorite fish, simmered with vegetables, the aroma of the seasoning permeating the fish, smelled so appetizing!

Brooklyn almost reached out to grab a bite.

But Sebastian's height gave him an advantage. As soon as she reached out, he lifted his arm, keeping the plate out of her reach.

"Come on! You'll have to let me eat it eventually." Brooklyn said.

Sebastian placed the dishes on the table, one by one. Four dishes and a soup, his cooking was truly excellent!

"How's your handwriting?"

He had her practice writing as soon as she was discharged, even monitoring her, which was really over the top.

Brooklyn replied. "I've written this much. Is it okay?"

He didn't look but nodded, "Go wash your hands."

Brooklyn obediently went to wash her hands.

Sebastian picked up her writing. The handwriting was far from the old Brooklyn's standard.

As he looked, Sebastian couldn't help but smile. Amidst the messy writing on the white paper, she had interspersed a few lines of poetry, "How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. I love thee to the depth and breadth and height my soul can reach, when feeling out of sight, for the ends of being and ideal grace."

'Alright, I love you too.' he smiled.
