Chapter 538 Benefits in Place, Everyone Gets a Share

Megan's body suddenly felt heavy, and without any support, she collapsed to the ground.

Her bones shattered bit by bit, the pain numbing her instantly, leaving her with no sensation, just a limp body, a huge void, and boundless despair.

The dark aura of death enveloped her, covering her white gown.

No, this couldn't be happening.

She was Megan, the eldest daughter of the Turner family, adored by thousands, a screen darling with countless fans! She was the undefeated goddess of the fashion world!

She was destined to be admired by the world, standing above everyone!

She couldn't lose, even in death, she couldn't lose!

Megan sat on the carpet, her white wedding dress spread out on the crimson carpet, resembling a large cloud.

Her body lay horizontally, the dress spread out, rose petals emitting the scent of death.

She could see the glamorous figures at the film festival, the flashing lights, and the fans' frenzied screams.

It was all so familiar!

The queen's crown was within reach; wasn't it rightfully hers?

Why did it all vanish in an instant?

It was all gone.

Megan closed her eyes, the strapless dress pulled down further as she bent over, her hands weakly falling to the ground, hitting it heavily.

The white bridal bouquet flew out of her hand, landing on the floor not far away.

Countless petals were scattered, the ribbon binding the bouquet unraveled, and the exquisite flowers turned into a mess of broken stems and petals.

Everything was over.

Two lines of tears slid from her tightly closed eyes.

Megan felt the world shaking as her head hit the ground heavily.

"Megan!"

"Megan! Megan, wake up!"

Brooklyn turned her head away, unable to bear it, pressing her cheek against Sebastian's chest, her face nestled in his chest, taking a deep breath, inhaling the faint scent of tequila that made her feel incredibly safe.

Sebastian tightened his grip, carefully and cautiously holding Brooklyn in his arms, his broad chest providing her with a haven.

His strong hand gently stroked her back, silently encouraging and loving her.

With his embrace, Brooklyn's nerves gradually relaxed.

"Darling, I feel quite sorry for Megan."

She was being honest, and her actions confirmed it.

Sebastian lowered his head, his thin lips landing on her hair, "I know, you have a kind heart."

Brooklyn didn't think she was kind; she just hadn't become that bad, that ruthless.

"It's okay, Megan won't hurt you anymore." Sebastian soothed her, easing her tension.

She nodded.

Watching Megan being carried out by several people, Brooklyn sighed helplessly. "She used to be so high and mighty. Who would've thought she'd lose her reputation in front of all those media today?"

Kelly swallowed, wanting to vent to Brooklyn, but when she turned her head, she saw Brooklyn and Sebastian embracing lovingly, and choked.

Luckily, she spotted Ophelia in the crowd and tugged her arm, unable to hold back. "Hey, today's drama was so satisfying, don't you think? Megan deserved it! Finally, she's done for! So satisfying!"

Ophelia looked at the petite Kelly in high heels, not quite understanding. "Done for? You don't think Megan's dead, do you? She's just fainted from the shock, not dead, okay?"

Kelly wasn't a doctor and didn't understand the shock. "Huh? She's not dead? Damn, I thought she was."

"Even if she's not dead, she won't have a chance to cause trouble anymore. Brooklyn is safe, don't worry."

Ophelia held her wine glass, wanting to take a sip, but thinking about the host providing the drinks, she couldn't bring herself to drink, so she put the glass down and watched the show.

"Wait, you're a cop, why don't you arrest the bad guys?"

Ophelia laughed. "I have my tasks."

The Turner family left, and Simon politely apologized to the guests. "Everyone, I'm sorry you had to witness this today. I apologize on behalf of Megan."

James sneered, hitting the nail on the head. "Of course, you have to apologize for her. You're marrying Megan, you get a share of her money! This apology is quite profitable for you!"

After his sarcastic remarks, he continued to look at the guests and reporters, those quickly typing up news articles were making a fortune today.

"Everyone, the show isn't over yet, keep watching."

He said, adjusting the pause button to play.

His gaze met Susie's in the crowd. "Mrs. Jordan, where's Mr. Jordan? He'll love the gift I prepared for him!"

Susie's eyes were lifeless.

The guests turned their attention to Susie, now the center of attention.

Susie looked at Megan's photos and videos, completely devastated.

She weakly held onto the crystal wine rack, her legs felt like they had been drained of all blood and bone, becoming limp, her fingers digging into her palm, leaving deep grooves.

Marc wasn't here, but she knew he would see these things sooner or later.

Brooklyn lifted her head from Sebastian's chest, seeing a picture of an abortion form on the screen.

James explained, "Mrs. Jordan, if we're talking about a chaotic private life, you take the crown. I'm not interested in investigating every man you've slept with. I prefer simple, direct evidence. Do you remember this form?"

Susie gritted her teeth, "I did have an abortion, so what? What woman hasn't had an abortion in her life?"

"Well said!"

James clicked to the next photo, showing Susie and several men in a hotel suite, barely clothed, engaging in unspeakable acts.

The guests gasped, covering their shocked mouths.

Susie's hand slipped.

The crystal wine rack she was holding shattered on the floor.

Susie stared at the screen, her face turning pale, her dress being poked by her fingers.

James smiled politely, "Drank a bit too much, Mrs. Jordan? You didn't even know you were being sold out, did you? Oh, let me think, someone used these photos to blackmail you later, right?"

Susie shook her head, desperately shaking her head, "No!"

James impatiently rubbed his forehead. "Coincidentally, I'm not good at much, but I know a lot of people! I bought these photos back, solving quite a few problems for you. How do you plan to thank me?"

Brooklyn's eyes almost popped out!

"Darling, how does James know so much? He was abroad at the time; he couldn't have known this."

Sebastian realized belatedly, covering her eyes, "Don't look! It's not appropriate! Don't let this corrupt you."

Brooklyn said, "I've already seen it, what's the point of covering my eyes now?"

This was ridiculous.

Sebastian said seriously, "Forget it."

"Okay, I'll try. What's going on with James?"

Sebastian pondered for a moment, his handsome brows furrowing slightly, "James once asked me which key people to clean up at Megan's wedding. I thought about it, Susie's name, you probably don't like her much, so I told him. Now it seems, James is quite efficient."

Brooklyn: "Alright, it feels like you're controlling everything."

Sebastian nodded, pleased, "James has passed my test, that's good."

Brooklyn didn't quite understand, "What test?"

Sebastian squeezed her hand, playing with it idly, "He wants to work for me in the future."

Brooklyn opened her mouth, then closed it again.

What has happened these past few days?

Susie cried, suddenly bending down to take off her high heels, throwing them at James, "James, you're going to regret this!"

James dodged her shoe, "Mrs. Jordan, save your strength to explain to Mr. Jordan at home!"

Brandon clicked his tongue, "Ms. Gomez, Susie's in deep trouble. Marc won't let her off easy."

Bianca glared at Brandon, "Shut up!"

"What's wrong? Their internal conflict is good, isn't it? Marc deserves this!"

Bianca clenched her fist, her high heel kicking Brandon's calf, "Don't mention Marc again, or else!"

Dario looked at the two.

At that moment, Ophelia heard a voice in her ear, "Quinn was sent to the hotel by Marc's people, trapped in the suite, temporarily safe. Marc's target isn't him."

"Understood."

"Find a way to detain Susie, she has secrets about Marc."

"Get it."

Ophelia checked the time; this wedding was quite eventful.

"James! You violated my privacy, you broke the law! This is illegal! I'll sue you! I'll sue you!"

Susie roared, her makeup ruined, her hair a mess, barefoot, she was a complete disaster.

James laughed, clicking his tongue, "Susie, you want to sue me for violating your privacy? Go ahead, I'm ready. Let's have a good court battle; I'd love to put on another show!"

"Freeze! Police!"

A clear, firm voice suddenly broke the noise in the banquet hall.

The guests' eyes turned to Ophelia, holding her police badge.

It just got more exciting.

An undercover cop.

Ophelia showed her badge, then took out a pair of cold handcuffs from her bag.

Kelly's eyes widened, looking at Ophelia's suddenly serious face.

Ophelia's face was cold and serious, looking at Susie, "Mrs. Jordan, you have the right to remain silent, but anything you say can be used against you in court! You're under arrest, please come with me!"

Handcuffs on.

Susie didn't understand, staring at Ophelia, shouting and struggling, "Why are you arresting me! What crime did I commit? Let go of me! Let go!"

Ophelia sternly shouted, her voice carrying the unique authority and dominance of a cop, "Mrs. Jordan, cooperate with the police investigation, or we'll detain you for non-cooperation!"

Brooklyn was stunned.

Ophelia wanted to arrest Susie, but didn't have a direct reason.

"Darling, can they detain someone for non-cooperation?" She asked.

Sebastian shrugged, "What the police say goes, darling, don't take it so seriously."

"But Susie is my sister."

Sebastian was silent for a moment, "Darling, don't you think now is a bad time to acknowledge that? Forget it."

"Darling, you're so bad! But I like it!"

He patted her head, "I can be worse."
