Chapter 117 No Mood for Scenery

As the end of the month approached, there was a lot to be done. Sebastian was busy at the company until late. Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, the city lights flickered. He frowned, realizing how late it was.

Since Sebastian hadn't left, Dario didn't dare go either. He was yawning incessantly and had to watch a few funny videos on his phone to stay awake.

But as soon as he opened the local trending topics on Twitter, Dario's finger froze. "Aucester Hospital performs another act of kindness, dispatching eight doctors to an AIDS village?"

He scrolled down to see the ID photos of the eight doctors. The last one was Brooklyn.

Dario's jaw dropped, nearly dislocating. He thought, 'The mistress of the Kingsley family, the young lady of the Mitchell family, Brooklyn, actually went with the medical team to such a place?

'If Sebastian find outs, he will definitely go to the hospital for explanation!'

Dario looked up to see Sebastian putting on his coat. So, Dario cautiously smiled, "Mr. Kingsley, heading home?"

Sebastian gave him a cold look. "What else?"

Dario immediately put on a serious face and started babbling, "Didn't you go to Mrs. Kingsley's place last night?"

This was not the right time to bring it up, as Sebastian and Brooklyn hadn't had a pleasant interaction the previous night.

But Sebastian wasn't in the mood to reprimand him and tiredly said, "I'm going back to Elite Manor."

As Dario helped him out the door, he sneaked a glance at Sebastian's icy eyes. "Mr. Kingsley, Aucester Hospital has been in the news a lot lately. Today, they made headlines again."

Sebastian's face remained expressionless. He didn't stop Dario directly but didn't show any good humor either.

As the elevator descended quickly, Dario smiled and said, "I just saw the news. Aucester Hospital sent eight doctors to support an AIDS village. That's so dangerous."

Sebastian's eyes swept over him coldly. "Dario, you're talking too much today."

"Then I'll get straight to the point. Here, take a look at this."

Dario handed Sebastian his phone with both hands. Sebastian impatiently took the phone.

"Damn it!"

He thought, 'Brooklyn! You like to get involved in everything? Even in such matters? Foolish woman!'

In a fit of rage, Sebastian flung the phone out. The black phone smashed against the elevator wall. At that moment, the elevator doors opened, and Sebastian strode out, leaving Dario far behind.

Dario looked at the phone on the ground, its screen shattered into pieces. Tears welled up in his eyes as he muttered, "Why am I so unlucky?"

The next day, the crowing of roosters in the wilderness woke them up.

Brooklyn threw off the covers. "Damn!"

Last night, she only felt that the place was eerie and desolate. Now she realized that the village was not only remote but also surrounded by mountains, completely isolated.

The mountains stretched endlessly, connecting the vast green expanse of the earth and sky like the pulse of a strong man, a symbol of life. But the desolate village looked incredibly bleak.

"The countryside environment is good. The air is so fresh; we should take deep breaths." Brooklyn stretched lazily. The two girls beside her, looking defeated, were listlessly massaging their backs and legs.

They had only slept on hard beds for one night and already felt uncomfortable.

"Dr. Mitchell, please don't joke. We are in no mood to enjoy the scenery."

The doctors all looked grim and downcast, filled with anxiety.

When they saw breakfast, their spirits plummeted.

On the wooden table were the same six large bowls from last night, still filled to the brim with food.

Nathan smiled warmly, "Doctors, there's not much to offer in the town. The food is simple; please make do."

The female doctors timidly stepped back a few paces. "I'm on a diet, not hungry."

The male doctors had been hungry since last night but were really reluctant to eat. However, they were starving and could only stare at the food, swallowing their saliva.

They wondered, 'Should we eat?'

All eyes turned to Brooklyn.

"Dr. Mitchell, are you hungry?"

Brooklyn felt helpless.

They had been working hard all day and were indeed famished.

Nathan's honest smile would make them feel ashamed if they didn't eat.

Biting her lip, Brooklyn picked up the food and asked, "Aren't you going to eat?"

Seeing this, the five male doctors rushed forward and started devouring the food. It was actually quite delicious! They ate with great relish.

Brooklyn asked, "What about you two? Really not eating?"

The two female doctors resolutely refused, saying, "We're really not hungry."

Upon seeing them, a single word leaped into Brooklyn's mind: contrived.

One should never be contrived as it was the most annoying behavior.

Nathan finally relaxed his tense expression. "Don't worry, the food is really clean. I'm just not a great cook, so it doesn't taste very good."

Brooklyn ate heartily, her eating manner becoming quite rough. "Your cooking is great. You could open a restaurant, and we'd come to support you!"

The five male doctors looked horrified. They didn't want to come back!

Before they finished breakfast, a seven or eight-year-old child stumbled in from outside, falling to the ground before getting up and running again. "Uncle Nathan, my mom fainted again!"

Brooklyn put down her bowl and stood up. "What's wrong with your mom? Take us to see her quickly!"
