Chapter 26 Kiss in Front of the Car
Sebastian withdrew his hand from Megan's with a faint expression of distaste. "You're the hostess this evening, why aren't you making your entrance?"
Megan's eyes widened in bewilderment as she looked at him. "Sebastian, aren't you supposed to accompany me?"
Sebastian, with a swift motion, opened the car door. "I won't repeat myself," he said, his tone final.
Megan clamped her mouth shut, too afraid to utter another word.
Sebastian was livid, seething with anger, and she dared not provoke him further. Megan was no fool; she knew when to draw near and when to keep her distance. Caution was key.
Megan slowly retreated from the parking lot, her mind whirling with grander schemes.
Sebastian's gaze fell upon the words and patterns smeared across his windshield, his eyebrows knitting together in a deep frown.
His car was vandalized with circuits damaged - was this Brooklyn's retaliation?
Brooklyn was like a wild, untamed feline, and she had managed to pique Sebastian's interest.
Once she was out of Sebastian's sight and certain she wouldn't be spotted, Brooklyn finally halted her steps. She sank down onto the pavement, hiking up her skirt to reveal a bleeding wound on her knee. She hissed in pain.
She was unsure when her apartment lock would be fixed. She had left without any identification, leaving her unable to check into a hotel. Was she destined to spend the night on the streets?
Brooklyn sat huddled by the roadside, her arms wrapped around her knees. For the first time, she truly understood the heart-wrenching despair of homelessness.
To add to her misery, when she pulled out her phone to call for help, she found it was dead.
Brooklyn's frustration peaked, yet she couldn't help but let out a bitter laugh.
Before fate destroyed someone, it surely drove them to madness first.
Suddenly, a car's headlights pierced the darkness behind her, the brightness forcing her to shield her eyes. The car pulled up beside her and came to a stop.
Brooklyn chuckled to herself, thinking, "Could this be a scene straight out of a romance film?"
Clearly, she was letting her imagination run wild.
The car window rolled down slowly, revealing Sebastian's frosty countenance. His hand rested on the window, his handsome features accentuated by the streetlights and car headlights. Yet, his icy demeanor made him unapproachable.
"You've dirtied my car, clean it," Sebastian commanded, his voice cold.
Brooklyn pouted. "Why do you assume I'm the one who dirtied it?"
Sebastian sneered impatiently. "I suggest you refrain from debating non-negotiable matters with me."
Brooklyn clenched her teeth, the bite mark on her lip stinging, the pain in her knee flaring up.
"Sebastian, you truly are my ill-fated destiny. Meeting you only brings me misfortune," she thought bitterly.
Brooklyn placed a hand on her knee, letting her injured hand hang limply. She turned her head to look at Sebastian. Under the streetlight, her usually stern features softened, lending her a touch of feminine allure. Sebastian's gaze held a fleeting hint of pity, but it was barely perceptible.
"Wash the car? Alright, but I don't have any tools. What if I accidentally damage your car while cleaning it?"
"Then be careful," he replied curtly.
Despite his mockery, Brooklyn didn't mind. She rose to her feet. "Alright then!"
Brooklyn opened the passenger door, slid inside, and buckled her seatbelt. "Lead the way, Sebastian. Wherever you want the car washed, I'll accompany you."
Her defiant attitude once again irritated Sebastian. He started the car abruptly, causing Brooklyn's head to jerk back against the seat.
The car pulled up in front of Bayside Villas.
An awkward silence filled the car. Brooklyn pretended not to notice Sebastian's intentions.
"Get out," he ordered in his usual indifferent tone.
As Brooklyn attempted to lift her leg, a sharp pain shot through her wound, causing her to slump back onto the seat.
Before she could react, Sebastian had already exited the car and rounded the front to her side. He roughly opened the door and, against her will, pulled her into his arms!
"Boom!"
The explosion in her mind was more potent than their earlier kiss, rendering Brooklyn momentarily stunned.
A blush crept onto Brooklyn's pale face, her cheeks and ears turning a fiery red. Her entire face felt aflame.
Could it be that he cared for her?
The sudden tension in the woman's back made Sebastian slightly apprehensive. He feared Brooklyn might misconstrue his actions.
"Put away your foolish fantasies. I simply don't want to lose a free car washer."
As expected, she had been overthinking. Sebastian was still the same Sebastian, offering her not even a shred of tenderness.
"Apologies, but my IQ level is A. I can't stoop to the level of childish behavior you understand."
