Chapter 537 Wishing to Eradicate the Turner Family!
The Right Disk?
James' words instantly grabbed everyone's attention!
The mention of high-definition content was enough to make people think of all sorts of things. As soon as he finished speaking, the banquet hall fell silent, and all eyes were fixed on him.
Megan's eyes widened in shock as she looked at James' half-smiling expression. His narrow, fox-like eyes held a hint of mischief, and his thin lips were tilted. This expression was all too familiar!
Countless times, whenever her cousin wanted to do something bad, he would show this exact expression!
"No... no need, James, no need."
Megan's voice was shaky, and her fingers clutched the hem of James' shirt. She shook her head vigorously and bit her lip hard. "James, don't do this. Let me go, please..."
As she spoke, tears flowed even faster, making her already heavily made-up face look even more disheveled.
James brushed her hand away, flicking the corner of his shirt that she had tugged on. A disdainful sneer escaped his lips as he looked down at the pleading Megan, shaking his head regretfully. "Megan, do you know why you've ended up like this?"
Megan reached out to grab him again, but James took a step back with his long legs, leaving her hands grasping at air. Megan never expected her cousin to step on her at such a critical moment.
"James, you're my cousin, how can you..." She sobbed, her voice choked, struggling to finish her sentence.
Lawrence's voice was hoarse as he spoke, "James, Megan is your family, how can you help outsiders bully your sister?"
James glanced at Megan, then at Lawrence and Karen. The two had already sensed the impending doom, supporting each other as they begged for mercy in front of Sebastian.
What a sight to behold!
"Aunt Karen, Uncle Lawrence, does this look familiar?"
James smiled slightly, his fox-like eyes lazily narrowing. He slipped one hand into the pocket of his suit pants, using the other to slowly straighten Lawrence's tie. He brushed over the wedding flower pinned to his chest that read "Father of the Bride."
Lawrence's face turned pale, the fine lines around his eyes piling up. His lips trembled several times as he stammered, looking at James' familiar yet distant face. A flash of realization struck him, and his eyes widened in shock!
"James... what are you talking about?"
Brooklyn and Sebastian exchanged a glance, but they didn't know what connection James and Lawrence had.
Could this situation get any messier?
James' fingers left Lawrence's collar, his height giving him a clear advantage as he looked down at Lawrence. "Uncle Lawrence, do you remember that snowy day years ago? Let me think... I was about eight years old. My parents were still alive, and Infinite International Group was under attack from a competitor. My dad hoped you would help out and promised to repay your investment double if the company survived. But..."
James shook his head, sighing with bitterness. "My dear Uncle, what did you say back then? You said Infinite International Group was destined to go bankrupt and suggested my dad transfer the company to you. Uncle, you were so kind! How touching!"
Lawrence's mouth hung open, unable to close for a long time, his fingers trembling as he pointed at James. "You... how..."
James snorted coldly, his breath filled with disgust and anger!
"Surprised? I was outside the study, listening to your conversation with my father, watching my father kneel before you and beg! Lawrence, my dear uncle! Why didn't you say we were family back then? Why did you ignore that the person kneeling was your brother-in-law?"
With her tear-filled eyes, Megan looked up at James' murderous expression, her legs weakening, almost collapsing again!
How could this be?
No wonder... no wonder her cousin had always treated her poorly, from childhood to now, and was even more distant after returning from abroad.
She couldn't understand why, but now she did. She understood everything!
James chuckled, his long fingers tapping Lawrence's shoulder, then turned to Karen. "Aunt Karen, my parents' illnesses started back then, you know? You and Uncle Lawrence are the murderers who killed my parents!"
James's voice suddenly grew louder, the veins on the back of his hand bulging with anger! He wished he could shoot them right now!
He had endured for nearly twenty years. Every time he thought of that night, he wanted to wipe out the Turner family!
Karen was speechless, trembling as she reached for James' arm. Her eyes were red and hot, her makeup smudged, and wrinkles covered her face. "James, it's been so long. Just let it go. Your parents didn't hold a grudge, so you should forget it, too. We're family; your sister and Megan have always been close!"
"That's because my sister didn't know!" James forcefully shook off Karen's arm. "Aunt Karen, if my sister knew the truth, what do you think would happen? Ha ha ha!"
Yes, after learning everything, he didn't tell anyone, including his sister, because James didn't want his sister to be tormented by hatred like him.
But he never expected his sister to team up with Megan to do such heartless things!
He hated it! He hated it even more!
James narrowed his eyes, smiling like a war god from the depths of hell. "Uncle Lawrence, Aunt Karen, Megan did such disgraceful things, but it's not her fault. With parents like you, what good could come of it?"
"James! I wronged your father and mother, it's my fault. I am willing to take all the blame, just spare Megan. I am apologizing to you!"
Lawrence's voice was weak as he struggled to stand, slowly approaching James, his face aged by countless hardships. He supported his knees, slowly kneeling down...
"James, I wronged your parents. I apologize. I owe your father, now I..."
"Enough!"
Before Lawrence's knees touched the ground, James's shout stopped him.
Enough! His heart was filled with hatred, anger, and frustration!
But seeing his uncle, whom he had known for over twenty years, about to kneel, James felt a pain like being stabbed. This kind of person should have died long ago! He definitely should!
But he couldn't go that far.
"Uncle Lawrence, I understand now. Some people are just built to be ungrateful. I'm different from you; we'll never be the same!"
Sebastian silently squeezed Brooklyn's hand. She looked up at him, whispering, "People are different. Lawrence indirectly caused his parents' deaths, but James still couldn't be ruthless. I'm surprised."
Sebastian nodded, "Yes, they're different. James may never be able to go as far as Lawrence. If he did, what would be the difference between them?"
James turned to Megan and Simon. Simon, in his wheelchair, hadn't said a word since the situation spiraled out of control.
"My dear brother-in-law, you've married my cousin. Seeing her like this, don't you want to say something? Is it fun? Is it interesting? You married a good woman! But..." James paused, deliberately dragging out the last word, "It doesn't matter, you're not a good person either. By the way, Simon, do you know what's the most fun?"
James glanced at Megan and then at the Turner couple. "I love watching dogs fight, fighting to the death, it's the most interesting."
Simon gripped the wheelchair armrest tightly. "My cousin, don't talk nonsense."
"Stop! Don't call me cousin so affectionately. I really don't want to hear it, especially from you!"
The guests were stunned by the live drama of the wealthy family's internal conflict. Who could have imagined that the seemingly harmonious Rivera and Turner families had such a long-standing feud?
It was mind-blowing.
Ophelia licked her lips. Could it get any more exciting?
After saying all this, James leisurely took a USB drive from the pocket of his black suit, smiling with murderous intent. "Let's cut the crap of old grudges, and focus on the present! Knowing my cousin was getting married, I didn't prepare a gift, so I'll give you this."
He walked to the multimedia control panel, his tall figure stepping onto the stage. "Everyone here gets a share, open your eyes and enjoy. This kind of treat isn't available every day!"
As he spoke, his gaze pierced through the crowd, landing on Susie. He called her out with a smile, "Mrs. Jordan, make sure you watch closely. There's a surprise for you too!"
Susie staggered, biting her lip hard!
Brooklyn's eyes narrowed slightly. "Dear, what did James prepare?"
Sebastian lovingly wrapped his arm around her waist. "I don't know, but James once asked me to spare his sister. I asked him to give a gift at Megan's wedding as a condition. This is probably the gift."
Wow! That was deep!
Sebastian added slowly, "James has long wanted to deal with the Turner family. He's probably been waiting for this moment for a long time."
No wonder James was so cooperative when he suggested giving the Turner family a taste of their own medicine.
Considering they were relatives, he originally thought that James wouldn't have agreed so readily. Now it all made sense!
Brooklyn couldn't help but feel deeply sympathetic for Megan. It was her wedding, and so many people had ulterior motives!
Even she, herself, wanted to make a big scene at the wedding.
Ah, women!
The multimedia system started, and the projector displayed a clear image. The screen showed photos of Megan with another man, one after another, crystal clear!
James crossed his arms, smiling wickedly. "How about it, my cousin? Compared to your misaligned photos, isn't this clearer and more eye-catching? The man in the photos is the father of the child you were carrying back then, right? No wonder he's an actor, he looks pretty good!"
"Ah!! Ah!!"
Megan suddenly grabbed her hair, screaming, clutching the bouquet tightly to her chest!
Simon lowered his head, supporting his forehead, saying nothing.
James continued, "Megan, if you want to hide your secrets, don't do it. Things you've done will eventually be revealed. You thought you could hide it forever? Let me tell you, karma isn't just a empty word from our ancestors!"
