Chapter 400 No Sharing Tables, He Finds It Crowded

James opened the car door and let Scarlett sit in the passenger seat. He then walked around to the other side, got in the car, and closed the door.

"Mr. Rivera, what do you mean by this?" Scarlett tugged at the door handle a few times, but it was locked.

James chuckled, a genuine smile peeking through his otherwise roguish demeanor. "Ms. Taylor, it's really hard to invite you to dinner. Without a little trick, I'm afraid you wouldn't even get in my car, right?"

Scarlett sneered, "You went through all this trouble just to invite me to dinner?"

"Of course not. Inviting you to dinner is just the first step." He shrugged and started the engine. "My goal is to pursue you. Obviously, you can see that. I'm going to drive now, Ms. Taylor. Please fasten your seatbelt. Otherwise, if you lean over during a turn, I might take it as you throwing yourself at me!"

In less than a day, Sebastian had confessed his feelings to her like a madman, and now James was using tricks to invite her to dinner. Was this the so-called good luck with romance?

It didn't seem good.

Scarlett looked at the car ceiling and laughed helplessly, "Mr. Rivera! You really have too much free time!"

James started the car, and the white vehicle sped away. "No! I'm very busy, but when it comes to pursuing you, time is an investment."

Scarlett was amused by James and fastened her seatbelt. "Mr. Rivera, I have a fiancé. Even if you invited me to the moon, I wouldn't agree."

James didn't respond. He looked at Scarlett's delicate profile, his lips trembling with desire. He wanted to lean in and take a sniff or even a kiss! "With a beauty by my side, anywhere is fine!"

The planned dinner location was quite far, and it took James a full hour to drive there.

Through the car window, Scarlett saw the logo of the luxurious Gallonia restaurant outside. It was the only global luxury chain restaurant in Aucester, inaccessible to ordinary people. But James, in his pursuit of her, was willing to spend the money.

"Ms. Taylor, please." James made a gentlemanly gesture, inviting her in. The smile on his face never faded, and it was unclear why he always had good mood.

They took the elevator straight to the top floor. When Scarlett saw the spacious and luxurious hall of the Gallonia restaurant, she smiled, crossed her arms, and raised an eyebrow. "Mr. Rivera, you really know how to spend money."

James had booked the entire place, truly a wealthy young man willing to spend lavishly.

The dazzling light of the crystal chandelier shone on them. Scarlett, in her casual clothes and slippers, and James, in his sharp suit and polished shoes, didn't quite look like a pair.

James stood with his hands behind his back. "To make a beauty smile, no amount of money is too much."

Scarlett's mouth twitched. Had James used all his knowledge just to pursue her?

They sat by the floor-to-ceiling window. In the top-floor noble restaurant of Aucester's tallest landmark building, the soft sound of a violin filled the air, with notes echoing in every corner.

The platinum-decorated walls reflected Scarlett's fair and delicate face. Her long sleeves were casually rolled up, and her hair fell naturally over her shoulders.

James stared at her, unable to control his wildly beating heart.

Scarlett looked up, meeting his gaze. One was filled with passionate admiration, the other with calm and rational distance. Finally, James was defeated by her indifference.

"Scarlett, do you know that a cold beauty can arouse a man's desire to conquer? Men love a challenge. The more you act like this, the more I can't resist." He clasped his hands on the table, a thin smile on his handsome face.

Scarlett boredly twirled the empty wine glass. "Mr. Rivera, you probably don't know that playing with fire might get you killed."

"Scarlett, you're adorable when you threaten me!" After a playful exchange, James snapped his fingers, and the violin music turned into a more romantic melody, elegant and heart-stirring.

A Gallonia waiter, moving to the rhythm of the music, pushed a dining cart from the entrance. On the silver cart were plates and a delicate star-shaped tiramisu cake.

In pure Gallonia language, the waiter began, "Sir, beautiful lady, allow me to introduce tonight's menu."

Scarlett crossed her legs and tapped her foot under the table, looking at James with a hint of sarcasm. "Sorry, Mr. Rivera, I don't understand a word of Gallonia."

That was impossible, he had investigated and knew Scarlett was fluent in Gallonia. But he played along, "It's okay if you don't understand. I'm here to be your translator, waiter, and future boyfriend."

Scarlett's lips curved into a mocking smile. "Looks like I won't be able to stay for this meal."

She pushed her chair back to leave, but James quickly reached out to stop her. "Okay! Let's take it step by step."

While the chef introduced the dishes, Scarlett glanced at her watch, which showed eight o'clock. Had Sebastian not noticed she was gone when he got home?

Frowning, she sent Sebastian a text message: [I'm going out tonight, won't be home for dinner.]

Meanwhile, downstairs in the restaurant.

Sebastian, who had just parked his car, saw his phone light up with a message from Scarlett.

[Coincidentally, so am I.]

After replying to the message, he got out of the car.

Megan eagerly took his arm, smiling sweetly. "Sebastian, it's been a long time since we came to this restaurant. Their foie gras is really good."

Sebastian slipped one hand into his pocket, allowing Megan to cling to his other arm, nodding indifferently.

The elevator went straight to the top floor, and Megan clung tightly to his arm the entire time, afraid that if she let go, Sebastian would run away. She occasionally glanced up at him, her smile widening each time.

Hes was her fiancé, and he could only belong to her!

As soon as Sebastian stepped out of the elevator, he was right at the glass doors of the restaurant. Two Gallonia staff members stood on either side. Upon seeing him, they quickly apologized, "We're very sorry, sir, but the place has been booked for a private event today. Please come another day."

Sebastian, already uninterested in dining with Megan, frowned. "Since it's booked, we'll come back another day."

Megan was reluctant to let go and whined, "Sebastian, I haven't seen you in days. How can we just leave without having dinner? And these people, how dare they not give you face? It's outrageous!"

She sneered at the waiters, "Do you know who you just turned away? I don't think you want to keep your jobs here."

Sebastian's lazy gaze shifted to the inside of the glass doors, and his eyes suddenly darkened. The woman sitting by the window was Scarlett?

And sitting across from her was James.

What were they doing here?

While Megan continued to argue with the waiters, Sebastian stepped forward, his deep, authoritative voice commanding, "Get your manager to see me."

The manager, noticing the commotion outside, peeked out and was shocked. Oh no! This was a big deal!

How could the waiters have blocked Sebastian outside!

Sebastian enjoyed absolute privileges. Forget about a private event, even if the restaurant was closed, all the staff must come back to work overtime!

"Mr. Kingsley! Please, come in!"

Surrounded by several waiters, Sebastian strode into the dazzling hall. His peripheral vision caught sight of Scarlett by the window, and his eyes softened slightly.

Hearing the commotion, both James and Scarlett turned their heads, seeing the imposing figure of Sebastian standing under the crystal chandelier.

With the night behind him and stars twinkling above, Sebastian and Scarlett exchanged a meaningful look, as if the air between them whispered of fate.

Sebastian was wearing the suit she had seen him in when he left and the tie she had personally chosen for him. The red tie accentuated his striking and confident demeanor. Whether it was due to the lighting or the people around him, she suddenly noticed that Sebastian seemed much taller. His expression was indifferent, and he looked at everything with a touch of disdain and laziness.

But that wasn't the main point.

As her gaze moved downward, Scarlett saw Megan clinging to his arm. Megan was wearing a bright red dress with a black belt, accentuating her slender waist. It gave an unintentional impression of a couple's outfit.

Scarlett's face darkened.

James stood up politely when he saw Sebastian. "Mr. Kingsley, I didn't expect to see you and Megan here. What a coincidence."

Sebastian didn't even look at James, his gaze solely on Scarlett. "Indeed, quite a coincidence."

Megan, noticing Scarlett sitting across from James, smiled sweetly. "James, are you having dinner with your girlfriend? No wonder you spent so much money. You're really generous with your girlfriend."

Sebastian's peripheral vision caught Megan's words, and he was visibly displeased.

Scarlett opened her mouth to explain, but James laughed heartily, "Megan, you're getting better at talking. No wonder Mr. Kingsley treasures you so much. Hurry up and get married! I'll definitely attend your wedding."

James and Megan were putting on quite a show.

Scarlett decided not to explain either; there was no point in clarifying things. With Sebastian now appearing alongside Megan, if she deliberately distanced herself from James, it would give the wrong impression.

Sebastian's deep eyes glanced over Scarlett, a lingering look that seemed to stretch on.

James politely suggested, "Since it's such a coincidence, why don't we sit together?"

Sebastian's aloof gaze barely acknowledged him. Compared to James's enthusiasm, he was so arrogant. "It's too crowded."

Scarlett's hand on the table involuntarily clenched. When she looked at Sebastian again, he was already seated at a central table not far away.

Megan, after sitting down, looked over at Scarlett and James's table with a smile. "Sebastian, Scarlett and James seem quite a match. James is quite influential in Aucester. Even though Scarlett is an internationally renowned doctor, James is still a good match for her. And look at Scarlett's outfit, she's wearing house slippers to a restaurant like this. They must be very close."

Sebastian's icy glare made Megan immediately shut her mouth.

"Scarlett has a fiancé. Besides, James changes girlfriends quickly. How could he be a match for Scarlett?" Sebastian tapped the table with his long fingers, losing even the mood to order.

Scarlett came out in house slippers to have dinner with James, a well-known wealthy man in Aucester. Had she lost her mind?
