Chapter 334 This Is All the Power of Love
Brooklyn tumbled like a broken-winged butterfly, spiraling down towards the cliff!
'Sebastian, I can't wait for you anymore. I can't wait for you anymore.' Her heart screamed, but the pressure was too much. Despite her white lab coat getting snagged on branches as she fell, leaving cuts all over her body, she didn't feel a thing.
The world went pitch black, darker than any stormy night. It was an endless void, everything felt so distant and unreachable.
Sebastian's plane touched down on the tarmac, rain pouring down outside. The place was empty, the plane's lights cutting through the rain like steel beads. The mountains around stretched endlessly. It hardly ever rained in Jabari, but now it seemed like the skies had opened up.
Dario popped open an umbrella. "Mr. Kingsley."
Sebastian stepped down, grabbed an umbrella, and stood in the rain. The rain soaked through, drenching his suit, with drops splashing on his arms and back.
Quinn frowned. "After an earthquake, there's always heavy rain. It's like clockwork in Aseasian and Jabari."
Quinn tried to lighten the mood, but Sebastian's face was stone cold. With no one paying him any mind, Quinn just shrugged and kept to himself.
"To the medical team's camp," Sebastian said, his voice suddenly soft. In the pouring rain, there was a hint of warmth in his voice.
Dario was puzzled. 'Why does Mr. Kingsley's tone always soften when it comes to Brooklyn? Must be love.'
Dario nodded. "Yes, sir!"
Sebastian's heart surgery recovery wasn't great, and he moved slowly. What he was doing now was already straining his heart. If he kept pushing, it might be suicidal.
But even though Sebastian moved slower and looked more worn out, his aura of nobility, power, wealth, and arrogance didn't fade.
With the plane's headlights and the heavy rain as a backdrop, his presence seemed even more commanding.
Sebastian, Quinn, Dario, and the Kingsley family's private doctor each held a black umbrella. Under the plane's strong lights, they walked step by step off the tarmac, creating a striking scene in the downpour.
The rough road was impassable for cars, but fortunately, it wasn't far. After a twenty-minute walk, they spotted lights from a noisy temporary generator in the pitch-black night.
A few nurses and doctors saw Sebastian striding through the rain, standing tall and noble under the lights. His elegance, rebelliousness, and steadiness easily captivated the women.
Zach spotted Sebastian and Quinn coming his way but didn't see Brooklyn. 'What's going on? Where's Brooklyn?' he wondered.
Before he could ask, Sebastian beat him to it. "Where's Brooklyn?"
Sebastian had braved strong winds and heavy rain, flown in on a private jet, and pushed his body to the limit just to get here for Brooklyn. She was all he cared about.
This made everyone around even more envious. Flying a plane to pick someone up? That was classic Sebastian. Compared to this, sending roses to Megan at the hospital was nothing. Brooklyn was truly something special! And Sebastian? He was simply the most impressive man in the world!
But Sebastian's question threw Zach for a loop. His brows knitted together as he thought, 'I haven't even processed my own pain, and now I'm being asked where Brooklyn is?'
"She went to the tarmac to find you a while ago. Don't tell me you didn't see her. Mr. Kingsley, are you serious?" Zach said.
'She went to the tarmac? I didn't see her,' Sebastian thought, his brows furrowing. He had walked quickly earlier, and now his face was even paler, his lips almost white.
"Dr. Carter, we're here to collect Brooklyn. Let's not play games. Where is she? Hand her over," Quinn demanded, eager to expedite Brooklyn's return to Sebastian..
Piper stood with a smile. "Mr. Kingsley, what do you mean? Do you really think we could hide Dr. Mitchell? She knew you were flying over and went to meet you. You didn't see her, and now you're asking us? Are you kidding me?"
Piper made Quinn sick just by looking at her. "Hey, talking all tough like that will give you stinky breath, and no one's gonna want to kiss you. Oh, wait, nobody's lining up to kiss you anyway."
"Quinn, watch it!" Piper hollered.
"Oh, you wanna kiss me? Sorry, not my thing, especially with older ladies like yourself!" Quinn teased.
"You!"
Sebastian sensed something was off. He remembered seeing an umbrella under the lights, but no one was there.
"Back to the tarmac!" At Sebastian's command, everyone turned back.
Zach followed quickly. "I'm sure she went there!"
Sebastian gave him a faint look.
At the tarmac, they saw a half-submerged umbrella, already half-drowned by the rain, with no trace of anyone nearby.
"The umbrella is definitely the one she took out!" Zach said.
Sebastian glanced at the umbrella and then at the edge where the earthquake had damaged the railing. The terrain here was steep, and a slight misstep could lead to a fall off the cliff.
His brows furrowed deeply. "Search from the camp to the tarmac carefully!"
"Yes!"
Zach was also nervous and scared. "Hurry, we must find Dr. Mitchell!"
