Chapter 81 My Person, I Protect
Brooklyn shifted her gaze and thoughts from Sebastian to Zach. The moment he arrived, she knew she was saved.
Seeing the head of the hospital approaching, Sebastian carried Megan to the other end of the elevator.
He thought he could wait for her to ask for help, but she would rather be surrounded by onlookers than show weakness.
He coldly watched her being pushed to the brink, waiting for her to ask for help.
But she didn't even show a hint of recognition towards him, like a stranger, no, even worse than a stranger.
He waited, thinking she would grab him and tell the reporters directly, "I have a husband. He's right here!"
So, he suppressed all his anger to help her.
He could bully his wife, but not outsiders! Definitely not a group of reporters!
But she didn't. She resisted everything with silence, showing no sign of weakness or softness.
Brooklyn used her actions to prove that she didn't need him.
Her world could accommodate one unsightly man after another, but not him.
She chose her path, so let her walk it alone! Without his involvement, he would wait to see what she would become.
Zach's first glance fell on Brooklyn, and the second on Sebastian.
Surrounded by reporters in the garage, Sebastian was being harassed again, all related to them.
So, it wasn't a coincidence.
Zach didn't wear any badges that could prove his identity, but judging by his demeanor, his status wasn't low.
The reporters had to ask, "Who are you?"
Zach reached over the crowd and directly shielded Brooklyn behind him, his strong protective instinct leaving everyone stunned.
Sebastian's peripheral vision took in everything. He thought, 'Was he the male doctor last night?'
His eyes darkened as he saw Zach suddenly grab her hand!
Damn it!
"I am the one who can answer all your questions!" Sebastian took a step into the elevator, hearing Zach's words.
The elevator doors closed, and Sebastian, without a word, held Megan, ready to go to the VIP exclusive ward.
Megan twisted his collar with her fingers, pitifully saying, "Sebastian, I'm so scared. I'm so worried she might harm the baby again. Sebastian, I'm no match for her. Can we change hospitals?"
"No need. She wouldn't dare do anything to you." Sebastian's voice was as cold as ice shards.
Tears welled up in Megan's eyes, "Sebastian, I never thought things would turn out like this. Our relationship used to be so good, how could she do this? Sebastian, can you stay at the hospital with me? What if reporters come when I'm alone?"
"Okay." Sebastian's voice remained cold.
But for Megan, that was enough. This was what she wanted.
Megan buried her face in his arm, a smile playing on her red lips.
She truly thanked this child, she had to protect this child well.
In the hallway, Brooklyn and Zach were still surrounded by reporters.
"Since you are in charge of the hospital, please explain first. Did Dr. Mitchell prescribe medication to harm the baby to the pregnant woman, and will she be expelled from the hospital?"
Zach didn't even bother to give a polite smile, he replied sternly, "Whether there are harmful ingredients in the medication needs to be tested, and also whether there are remnants of the same medication in the patient's body."
He remained calm, his unwavering authoritative aura reassuring.
"But Ms. Turner did suffer harm from taking the medication prescribed by Dr. Mitchell. Given their previous relationship, Dr. Mitchell clearly had a motive to harm." A reporter said.
Zach still kept her within his protective range, his gaze sharp, "Harm? Sir, with just that statement, I now have the right to file a lawsuit for defamation and slander. Please mind your words."
The reporter fell silent.
Zach remarked, "Whether it was a mistake by our doctor in prescribing the wrong medication or the patient's lack of common sense in consuming conflicting foods during medication, it remains to be investigated. But rest assured, as the incident occurred in our hospital, we will spare no effort to uncover the truth at any cost and make it public. Please await the truth patiently."
His words were casual, yet they easily dispelled the reporters' inquiries. Knowing Brooklyn's character, he believed she wouldn't do such a thing, not because she didn't have the opportunity, but because she didn't care.
The details of who Brooklyn was revealed her character.
As for this so-called Megan, he hadn't heard of this name abroad, but from what he heard today, she was just an ordinary person!
Brooklyn raised her eyes, a hint of gratitude in them, but quickly lowered them again.
"So, during work hours, the doctor flirted with a stranger. How do you explain that?"
"Yeah! Such vulgar behavior! How does she explain that?!"
Brooklyn gritted her teeth, wanting to speak, but Zach firmly held her wrist.
"Flirting? I only saw our doctor working late in the office without complaint, reviewing medical records. Her friend, or maybe lover, brought her a late-night snack. What? A gesture of kindness turned into such slander. After this news spreads, will anyone dare to bring food to their loved ones' workplace again?" Zach retorted.
His words were warm and touching, like a gust of wind sweeping away the dirt and dust on her. He wasn't angry or impatient, and his tone was calm and composed, without a hint of impropriety.
"Who are you? Are you really just her colleague or superior defending her?" A reporter asked.
Zach finally showed a slight change in expression, he smiled. From a cold smile toward the reporters to a warm smile toward her, the transition took only a second.
"That just means you haven't been as lucky as us, encountering a good colleague and leader who stands up for justice. And I will do everything to protect my person. If the malicious slander on the forum isn't removed by noon today, I will seek legal action to defend the rights." Zach said firmly.
The words 'my person' stunned Brooklyn.
The reporters were dismissed by Zach. None dared to speak out of turn.
