Chapter 516 What It Feels Like to Have a Doctor as Your Wife

The plane touched down smoothly in Aucester, and as soon as Sebastian disembarked, he hopped into a private car headed straight for the hospital.

Brandon glanced at the growing bloodstain on Sebastian's arm and swallowed nervously. "Mr. Kingsley, I always thought you were untouchable. Never imagined you'd get hurt. When Dr. Scott patches you up, I'm definitely sticking around to watch."

Bianca, sitting in the back seat, broke into a cold sweat at Brandon's words. Talking to Sebastian like that was practically asking for trouble. Did Brandon have no sense?

Sebastian leaned his head against the back of the passenger seat, speaking nonchalantly, "Mr. Hernandez, what have you been eating lately?"

Brandon, not catching on, asked, "What do you mean?"

Sebastian smirked slightly. "I want to know what you've been eating to grow such a big pair of guts."

Bianca turned her gaze away, feeling a bit sorry for Brandon, who never seemed to catch a break with Sebastian.

Seeing the sweat trickling down Sebastian's forehead as he clutched his arm, Bianca apologized, "I'm sorry. It was my carelessness that caused you so much trouble."

Brandon quickly chimed in, "This is nothing. Mr. Kingsley and I have handled situations like this before. We were just shorthanded this time, or Sebastian wouldn't have gotten hurt. But honestly, it was pretty thrilling. It's been a while since I got to stretch my muscles like that."

Brandon laughed to show his nonchalance about the situation.

Sebastian remained calm. "Marc now knows your true identity. He won't let this go easily. You need to be extra careful for a while."

Bianca nodded, feeling the pain from her injuries but grateful they were hidden under Brandon's jacket. "Thanks for the heads-up, Mr. Kingsley. I'll be more cautious."

Brandon gritted his teeth. "Damn Marc. I thought we could catch him this time, but he wasn't on the boat. Damn it!"

Bianca added, "Marc isn't just anyone. He wouldn't be foolish enough to get his hands dirty himself. Today, he sent his top men. Now he's down twenty people, which will hurt him. I want to go to Aqua Vista City myself."

"Are you crazy?" Brandon cut her off, his concern evident. "Marc is a bastard. You, a woman, want to take him on? You wouldn't even know how you died."

Bianca looked back at Sebastian, who nodded in agreement.

"I'm sorry for causing Mr. Kingsley to get hurt and for the trouble today, Mr. Hernandez. This is my problem, and I need to handle it myself."

Sebastian glanced at Bianca's back from the passenger seat, his voice low and certain. "You're a friend of my wife. She promised to help you, and I'll fulfill her promise. You can't take on Marc alone. Don't be reckless."

"But I can't let what happened today happen again," Bianca said, feeling ashamed. Who was she to make Sebastian fight for her?

Sebastian closed his eyes, looking tired. "Today was minor. Leave Marc to me. No one is to act rashly. If you fall into Marc's hands again, I won't save you a second time."

Bianca opened her mouth but couldn't say a word. She nodded and looked at Brandon.

After a moment, Sebastian said, "Mr. Hernandez, you and Bianca are both part of the Mitchell Group. Given the current situation, you're responsible for her safety, 24/7."

"Mr. Kingsley, this..."

"Got it!"

Before Bianca could finish her surprised exclamation, Brandon had already agreed without a second's hesitation.

When they arrived at the hospital, Brandon helped Sebastian into the VIP elevator. Simon was already waiting in a luxurious room on the top floor.

Seeing the wound on Sebastian's arm, Simon's mouth twisted. "I wish I didn't have to treat your injuries again, Mr. Kingsley. It's been a while since you pushed yourself this hard."

Sebastian frowned, sitting on the sofa and giving Simon a look. "Got too much free time?"

The doctor coughed. "No, no, I'm very busy! I'll treat your wound right away."

As he cut Sebastian's sleeve, he remarked, "What a shame about this shirt."

Sebastian glared at him. "One more word?"

"No more words! Treating it now!"

Brandon and Bianca exchanged glances. Brandon then said, "Dr. Scott, have you been living the retired life lately? Since Mr. Kingsley's wife came back, it seems you haven't been needed. Are you feeling lonely?"

As Simon cut open Sebastian's sleeve, revealing the deep, bullet-grazed wound, he said, "I wish I could be lonely forever." He began cleaning the wound. "Mr. Kingsley, this is serious. It'll hurt. Do you want anesthesia?"

Bianca blurted out, "Of course!"

Sebastian replied, "No. Any anesthesia will mess with the nerves. Just stitch it up."

Brandon crossed his arms. "Mr. Kingsley, the nerves in your arm won't mess with your brain. It'll hurt like hell without anesthesia."

Sebastian shot him a look, and Brandon fell silent.

Bianca turned away, unable to watch. The doctor chatted with Sebastian as he stitched the wound with swift, precise movements, finishing in under three minutes.

Sebastian said, "Mr. Hernandez, call Dario and have him bring a clean set of clothes."

"Got it."

Once the wound was stitched, Sebastian went to the bathroom to wash off the blood. When he came out, Dario was already in the living room with a fresh set of clothes.

"Boss, your clothes."

Sebastian changed and instructed the group, "No one is to mention my injury, especially not to Brooklyn."

"Understood."

Dressed, Sebastian put his hands in his pockets to ease the strain. "I'm going to see Brooklyn. You all can go."

Brandon pouted. "Sebastian, don't turn into a henpecked husband. That's not your style!"

Sebastian didn't even look back as he got into the elevator.

Brooklyn returned to her office after a team meeting, with Jake and Arabella standing by her desk, all looking grim.

Brooklyn pointed to a CT scan. "The patient's affected area is here, which means we can't perform direct surgery. The patient has heart issues and now lung shadows. We need two rounds of chemotherapy first."

Arabella stammered, "Will they survive? They've been at Compo Hospital for six months with no improvement. If they die here, it'll be a mess."

Brooklyn studied the scans. "There's hope, but it depends on the patient's cooperation."

Jake nodded. "Right. Some people survive lung cancer, some don't. It's up to them. As for the heart, we'll figure it out." He changed the subject. "Dr. Mitchell, we haven't found a donor for Sofia. Her blood type is too rare. If it doesn't match, there could be post-op rejection, and she'll still die."

Brooklyn rubbed her forehead. "I know. Is Tia awake?"

Arabella shook her head, her voice low. "She woke for a few hours but has mostly been unconscious. Her vitals are stable. If she stays asleep, she might live longer."

Jake said, "Being asleep is no different from being dead. She's practically a vegetable."

"Jake, do you have to be so harsh?"

Brooklyn waved her hand. "Alright. Tia's condition is unique. Letting her sleep buys time. Don't wake her unless she does on her own."

As they spoke, a dark figure appeared at the door. The powerful presence drew their attention to Sebastian.

"Mr. Kingsley."

"Hello, Mr. Kingsley."

The two left, leaving Brooklyn and Sebastian alone.

Brooklyn stood, examining Sebastian's face. Her doctor's intuition told her something was off. She touched his face. "What's wrong?"

Sebastian held her hand to his face, shaking his head. "I had things to do, but seeing you, they don't matter."

Brooklyn wasn't convinced. "Don't brush me off."

She placed her other hand on his chest, her expression turning serious. "What's going on? Your heart rate is off. Are you hurt?"

Sebastian raised an eyebrow, holding her hand with a smile. "Having a doctor for a wife means I can't hide anything. It's a minor injury. Don't worry."

Brooklyn inspected him. "Where are you hurt? Let me see."

Sebastian gently pushed her into a chair. "It's nothing, darling. You're too tense. You said you needed to discuss something. What is it?"

Brooklyn looked skeptical. "If you won't tell me, I'll check you myself tonight."

"Alright, I'll cooperate fully tonight." Sebastian crossed his legs, feeling all his fatigue and pain vanish at the sight of his wife.

Brooklyn pulled out a file. "This is information on Peregrine's wife. I was looking into her daughter's surgery when I found this."

She handed the file to Sebastian.

Sebastian flipped through it, frowning. "I know about this."

Brooklyn's eyes widened. "You know? You know Peregrine's wife is..."

"Yes, I found out when I investigated him. I was as shocked as you, but now I think it's not so bad."

Brooklyn was overwhelmed. "It's very bad! Peregrine's wife is... Oh my God, I'm going crazy!"

Sebastian remained calm. "It's not surprising. Peregrine's wife is young and beautiful. Marrying an older man isn't unusual, especially with Marc's father's power. They both benefit."

Brooklyn's mind raced. "Peregrine's wife remarried Marc's father and had a child. My sister married Marc. What a small world!"

Sebastian smiled. "Don't worry about her background. Tell me what you need. How we achieve it is my concern."
